Impressed you eye balled those brace positions! Did you check it afterwards with tape measurer or just accept there might be a mm or so to come off shoulder during assembly?

There’s usually sums fine tuning to do on assembly, but looking down the shoulder is pretty accurate

Great video and very informative. But I’ve got a (possibly) daft question: in this instance, are the knee braces absolutely necessary from a structural perspective, or are they more of a decorative feature?

Great question, they are more decorative in this instance because the house it’s on two sides, but they do narrow the unsupported span on 4m beam…. Which is good 👍🏻
