Honestly, most would NEVER have noticed he chews gum constantly.

Mili still performing very well and he´s now 59 yo. He´s also the real voice of Mark Wahlberg character on the movie Rockstar as a lead singer of the fictional band Steel Dragon. Great choice! Can´t wait to see it!

I don't like this song at all and do not think it showcases his talent. Not to mention, the lyrics are corny. However, he rocks in Rockstar and the quintessential rock voice comes out with clarity.

Miljenko Matijevic is amazing, and will always be amazing. He is STILL slaying! Gotta do I'll Never Let You Go and of course We All Die Young!

As mentioned above, you need to check out Tommy Johanssons cover of She's gone. You should listen and react to all his covers. He's a music genius, incredible talanted vocalist. Also incredible at playing a lot of instruments.

Rik Emmett had that dog whistle register that he'd bust out of nowhere! 😂

We are lucky to still have Milo. During a concert he tried climbing a light rig which wasnt tied down properly. When he jumped off the 1 ton structure fell on him crushing his back, smashed head to floor but yet jumped up and walked off then spent months in hospital

That was at McNichols Arena in Denver. It took him years to fully recover. In an interview he said he was constantly in a mental fog for years then one day it was like a switch flipped and he had clarity again.

“I’ll never let you go” and “Everybody loves Eileen” are 2 of my favorites. Milijenko aka Mike the lead singer hits some more of those killer notes in each of those songs.

I’ll never let you go is so epic it will blow your mind! The range he has is incredible, massive, epic, frickin unbelievable!!! You’re awesome btw , I love how expressive you are❤️❤️

She's Gone was a huge hit in South Korea. Miljenko spent 4 months learning how to sing in Korean and entered the "King of Masked Singers" TV show in 2016 as the character "A Quiet Sort of Lightning Man", to the confusion of the judges who couldn't quite place the accent 😂

Tommy Johansson does a version of this song he’s the ex lead guitarist in Sabaton but he has his solo stuff you need to check out also. As far as this song I’m glad you picked this version because it’s live And back in the day he could sing it just like the studio when a lot of singers out there could not.

My Glam-rock heart always breaks a little when I hear Steelheart and Miljenko, such incredibly good songs and what a Voice!! The fact that they are not more talked about and known really stings💔🔥

I saw Steelheart in a small venue in 1990 when they were touring for their self-titled album. I liked them enough to ride a motorcycle in the pouring rain and see the show absolutely soaked, but I walked away from that show liking them even more. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. Back then, we all expected singers to fall a little short from their often over-produced studio recordings when performing live; but that was not the case with Miljenko. What a talent! I think, “I’ll Never Let You Go” or, “Everybody Loves Eileen” would be the next go-to songs to review here.

Tommy Johansson covers a few Steel Heart songs, including this one. As you can imagine, with Tommy's range, he does it very well.

I was very fortunate to get to meet and hear Miljenko, I believe it was in 2007, at Blarney Stone's for Myrtle Beach's Bike Week. There were friends of mine playing, a group called Black Glass, and Ronnie Roger's their lead singer started to play and sing Steelheart's "I'll Never Let You Go" (some people call it Angel Eyes) and Miljenko jumped up on stage with Ronnie and sang it with him. When Ronnie got to the hardest part of the song, Miljenko stepped back, smiled, pointed, and started clapping for Ronnie. Miljenko is an amazing singer and a super nice guy. He's also the singer for Mark Wahlberg in the 2001 movie Rock Star.

Hi Elizabeth, I'm sorry to say that I haven't watched KZread for a while and I totally freaked out when I noticed in the sidebar suggestions that you FINALLY analyzed Steelheart!!! I immediately went to your video instead of watching the one I originally went to KZread for. I have been begging for years ever since you started doing hard rock/metal to listen to the vocals of Steelheart. I knew that you would love Miljenko Matijevic! Hopefully your next review of Steelheart will be "I'll Never Let You Go". Back in the day EVERY time the local rock station would play that song the DJ would have to answer several calls and when he/she would came back "on air" they would announce that the question everyone was asking "Who the heck was that?" "It was Steelheart" and hopefully gained new fans. I agree with other comments below that We All Die Young and Everybody Loves Eileen would also be fun for you to analyze. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Great review Elizabeth. I am so glad you finally did a Steelheart song and it was a really great choice. I definitely think "I'll Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes)" should be your next song by this amazing band. That song, IMO, is the #1 power balad ever created.

Definitely “I’ll never let you go”. But I also recommend Skid Row Wasted Time. Sebastian Bach is also an amazing singer from that era.

Need to check out Miljenko Matijevic story as he had an accident while on stage where the lighting rig fell and hit him in the head. Miljenko Matijevic ended up with amnesia and not only had to relearn how to speak but also had to relearn all of his songs to be able to sing them. Was such a dark time in his life but has come back stronger than ever.

I've been waiting for ages for You to react to one of the greatest voices in Glam Metal. I'm also stunned that no one has suggested our Swedish meastro of covers (and of course his own band Majestica), Tommy Johansson. Tommy was one of the lead guitarists in Sabaton for 7 years (he just announced he's leaving to pursue his own band). He has made covers of famous songs for a couple of years now and post a new one weekly on Fridays. Thanks for reacting to Steelheart, my favorite band out of this era. They were late to the scene, always underrated and then the horrible accident happened. Milli is singing again and still sounds great. He is chewing gum throughout this song and usually did during a performance. He said it was to keep his throat moist so he could hit the high notes.

Wow. This is taking me way back. I haven’t thought about Steelheart in years.

Everyone is saying it, "Never Let You Go" - set the music worlds ears on notice. They should have been bigger but they were struck by a horrible tragic accident that nearly killed the singer. He still performs as Steelheart today though, and while he can still sing amazingly, he just can't quite hit the highs he did back in the day (that is not a knock, those highs were insane and he did it with no auto tune, backing tracks...just him and a piano...we need more of this in today's music!!!). He still is a great rock singer and if you have the chance to see him live, go!

More Steelheart please! I found out about this band when the movie Rock Star came out. Miljenko Matijevic is the singing voice for Mark Wahlberg in the movie. I really like the movie so I checked out the band and I just love them. Other suggestions from them: "I'll Never Let You Go", "Sheila", "Gimme Gimme" and "Like Never Before". 😎👍

'Gimme Gimme' SLAMS!!! Same with 'Down N' Dirty'. Their debut album opened with three so-so songs then the rest of the album was killer material. Except for 'Everyone Loves Eileen'.....it fits in the rack with the first three tracks. Six absolute bangers from a ten track album is a good hit rate and Mike's voice is so gravelly on a few tracks it surprises. I love Steelheart.

This channel consistently shows me songs that I probably wouldn’t have ever heard before and are now just absolute favourites.

Back when Steelheart's first cd came out I was completely blown away by Miljenko's voice.....still an incredible album to listen to.

Everyone is begging for I’ll never let you go, but I’ll put my vote in for their song Steelheart off of their second album. Huge high notes and shows off the clarity of his singing at a fast clip.

I'll agree with everyone else and suggest "I'll never let you go" mind blowing vocals, and tight band all around. The drummers kit is sick.

"I'll Never Let You Go" is the song that he really shows off on, you REALLY should react to and analyze that song!!!!

About time. Good choice on the acoustic version. I'll Never Let You Go is their other "big" hit (relatively) you should have a listen. They were on their way up and Millie suffered an on-stage accident to his head and lost the ability to sing. He recovered just in time for the genre to die in favor of the short lived grunge era to emerge, thus missing their chance to make it to the mainstream of hard rock. (short version of their history). Millie also suffered a minor stroke about 6 months ago and was back on tour by early September. (40+ min interview on Flickering Box 8/23-ish).

Finally! You did this video. I thought I was the only one who recommended this about a year ago. I'm glad so many others did as well. He is an amazing singer despite the "hair band" association. Cant Stop Me Lovin You is a beast.

This guy's has one of THE most amazing voices. You should really pay closer attention to him. The band didn't get the attention they deserved, but ask anyone in the music industry about him, you will get the same response. He is next level vocal. It's sp sad he had an accident that damaged his vocal chords. He can still belt, but the gift was damaged beyond repair. A true tragedy.

As so many others have said you need to listen to "I'll Never Let You Go". The studio version. Although in the more recent live versions he hasn't lost his voice much at all.

Now you got to do never let you go. So glad you are doing this band. Keep up the great work

Whoo whoo lmao yeah it gives me goosebumps also .I have been recommending Milo Matijevic for soooo long on your channel .everyone always thinks of Sebastián Bach when it comes to rock ballads. But this guy is just unbelievable .Steal Heart is practically unknown boost rock fans cause the only song of theirs that got any radio play was 'Angel Eyes (I'll Never Let You Go) and that was about it ! They were a outstanding band but never really had that super successful break out hit so most don't even know him .my ex-girlfriend was from just outside Hartford Connecticut and went to high school with Milo (she said he went by Michael though inserted of Milo back in school) and said he was this good in 10th grade singing and winning every single school talent show the the school put on .and then won o lot of the local battle of the bands contest there in Connecticut .another thing most don't kno is when the movie "Rock Star" came out 15 years or more ago featuring Jennifer Aniston and Mark Walberg (as the lead role) they sought out really successful musicians and bands from rock and metal for all their opinions on who was the best singers .of course Rob Halford from Judus Priest was recommended which is who the main band in the movie is based on but countless musicians named Steelhearts Milo Matijevic as probably one of the greatest singers not just from Rock or Metal but from any genre for that matter so Milo was approached and did all the vocals for Walbergs character .they actually recorded Milo's vocals than had Walberg sing it as close as possible (which wasn't to close lol) and punched in a low volume layer on top of Milo's to kind of give it a small believable aspect to it) the films score was all or mostly done by Matijevic .Ozzys guitarist Zak Whilde stared and played in the movie along with the Jeff Pilson bass player from Dokken .and Led Zeppelins late drummer John Bonhams son Jason stared and did the drumming on the movies soundtrack .several other musicians from 80s bands stared in the movie also but Milo was the meat and potatoes of all the vocals even doing one song from Milo and Steelheart album "We All Die Young" really was a awesome movie .but my point of all this is when Hollywood wanted the best vocalist for a movie they were making asked numerous Rockstars who was the best singer they all recommend Milo Matijevic

One of my fave singers from that era and still today. What a voice. I have their entire collection. He really wails. I’ll Never Let You Go is my fave.

I got to me him in a small bar in Orange Ct right when Steelheart first broke.He came down with a buddy of mine.Not only an incredible singer but a great guy too.
