Bale may be good to many but Batman is supposed to be a silent guardian not sounding like he has a sore throat like Christian. In Batman Returns you can definitely understand him when he says, “Shut up. You’re going to jail.” While Bale sounds like he’s yells, “you’re peanut butter and jelly forever!” with his sore throat. Keaton’s Batmobile had the best bat-like design and Danny Elfman’s ‘89 Batman theme is the best of all Batman movies.

This scene in my opinion is the best Batman introduction ever. It's simple, memorable, and straight to the point. And it was the perfect way to introduce Batman on the big screen for the first time. It does a great job at setting up Batman's character and giving you an idea at what he's like despite not even knowing his origin story. From the moment he gently lands on the rooftop behind the two muggers counting their money and closes his cape like a pair of wings, you know you are going to witness something really awesome. The scene does a great job portraying Batman as this terrifying monster who terrorizes criminals and he feels very intimidating. Michael Keaton delivers the iconic ''I'm Batman'' line perfectly (and you've gotta just love the way he pulls the street thug close and smirks before saying it). And once hes scared the crap out of the crooks and says ''I'm Batman,'' he just disappears into the night like a badass. No other Batman introduction in the movies has topped this.

This is the first movie I ever saw as a child and is still my *FAVORITE* one as Keaton plays him as a more silent guardian and watchful protector while Bale plays him as such a loud character with a sore throat. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton were the ones who first started and forever changed Batman into a dark and serious style character and movie in ‘89 and as far as Bat-Gadgets go, nothing is cooler than the 1989 and 1992 Batmobile Tim Burton designed which had a very creative bat look to it unlike Bale’s tank, with: _thrusters, spherical bombs, a pair of forward-facing Browning machine guns, side-mounted disc launchers, and chassis-mounted shinbreakers, side-mounted grappling hook launchers and a central "foot" capable of lifting and rotating it 180°. In addition to its armor plated body, a heavy armor cocoon, oil slick dispensers, smoke emitters, and in extereme circumstances, and a "Batmissile" mode to avoid capture._ None of the other 6 so called “Batmobiles” can top that. Tim also chose by far the best person _(Danny Elfman)_ to create the most iconic Batman theme also used in Batman TAS. If it wasn’t for Tim Burton’s dark and creative idea of how The Dark Knight should be, Batman would still be dancing in blue and gray tights on the screen.

One thing I always liked about Michael Keaton's Batman was how calm and quite he was. His Batman was always so chill and silent and yet he still managed to be so dark and intimidating. His version of the character was always so mysterious and subtle whenever he appeared on screen character and he was always so badass to watch. Nothing against Christian Bale, but his version of the character was way to angry and aggressive for my liking. He always seemed way to try hardish and forced and just didn't feel that dark or intimidating like the way Batman should be. And that throat cancer voice sure didn't help either. Keaton on the other hand felt more natural. Just Keaton's glares alone was intimidating enough.

Giant statues, gargoyles in buildings, heavy Christian Gothic imaginery, perpetual fog/smog at night, unkept and dirty streets with 1 bulb light only...... Is that not dark enough for you? And it's Batman, not Bruce Wayne doing the fight. With the cowl no one sees your hairline and with the aggressive attitude in the dark no one is measuring you height. @@unhommequicourt The Hollywood Reporter are almost never wrong. He's not the new Batman, he's the Batman of Earth-89, seen in the Batman Anthology, having a role in the upcoming film "The Flash". Robert Pattinson is the main film Batman from now on, though he exists separately from any established continuity. You know what the multiverse is, right? All the major trades, not just The Hollywood Reporter, reported it. They're incredibly reliable sources, not the bullshit WeGotThisCovered or CosmicBookNews websites. Mike Mike it’s not just the cast members that make this pretty the best Batman movie it’s the gadgets as well. Keaton’s Batmobile is the most iconic vehicle/gadget in the Batman movie production that looks like it was driven right out of the comic book. Unlike Bale’s tank, it has a more Bat-like theme to it containing: thrusters, spherical bombs, a pair of forward-facing Browning machine guns, side-mounted disc launchers, and chassis-mounted shinbreakers. For quick maneuvers, the Batmobile had side-mounted grappling hook launchers and a central "foot" capable of lifting the car and rotating it 180°. In addition to its armor plated body, the car could envelop itself in a heavy armor cocoon. To avoid capture, the Batmobile also featured three primary pursuit deterrents: oil slick dispensers, smoke emitters, and in extereme circumstances, a "Batmissile" mode. None of the other six Batman movie vehicles can top that.

I'll take Michael Keaton’s Batman over Christian Bale's loud sore throat and Bat Afleck any day. Michael’s the first dark and still the best Batman imo. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton were the ones who first started and forever changed Batman into a dark and serious style character and movie in ‘89 and as far as Bat-Gadgets go, nothing is cooler in my mind than the Batmobile Tim Burton designed. Tim also chose by far the best person _(Danny Elfman)_ to create the most iconic theme of all Batman movies that was also used in Batman TAS. If it wasn’t for Tim Burton’s creative idea of how The Dark Knight should be, Batman would still be dancing in blue and gray tights on the screen.

He only lost the Bane ( another trained fighter ) because he was soft from years of nonfighting. But the Batman in "Dark Knight" at his peak would have kicked the shit out of this batman with ease.

Batman had gone back to the film noir-meets-high-adventure style of the 1940s comics immediately following the end of the Adam West show. The tail end of the Silver Age and the whole of the Bronze Age was a return to the atmospheric yet swashbuckling vibe of Kane and Finger's classic Batman stories. Even without Burton, a Batman film series would inevitably have broken away from the Adam West mold simply because it was of a different time and place. There were already scripts written that did just that (Tom Mankiewicz of SUPERMAN fame wrote a very well-liked script that pre-dated Burton's involvement.) Burton was just the guy who happened to get the job and make it happen. Also, Batman's classic gray and blue suit was never going to make the jump to a big-budget movie, simply because it would have been a special FX nightmare at the time with bluescreen. Gray and black was what was intended up until Burton came along. (Superman's movie costume had to be changed to turquoise for that very reason.) Let's not elevate Burton more than he deserves, especially since he did the franchise real harm with BATMAN RETURNS.

The way he slowly and calmly approaches the bad guys, doesn't say anything or show any emotion, gets shot down but then bushes it off like it's nothing and rises back from the ground like he's undead. It really reminded me of Michael Myers and wouldn't surprise me if Tim Burton took some inspiration from the Halloween movies when making this scene.

He didn't "watch" the family get mugged, you even see after he hears the screaming that he moves to investigate.

1:52 I just noticed that when Batman lands quietly, one of the goons looks at the glass, which reflects to seeing Batman and that's why he said "I'm getting out of here" and 2:00 he looks up to Batman but tries to ignore him, thinking he won't approach them

In many ways, I'd say it's iconoclastic. And that's a good thing: it presents Batman more as a figure connected to noir and horror than as a 'superhero'.

The went back to the 35mm camera negatives and did a 4k remaster on it. I hear they have changed some sound effects, which isn't something I agree with, but it does look good.
