I have a balcony-sized part of a deck, and we have two racks of potted plants there. I started several years ago with herbs, and then got into pansies and other flowers. At first I looked for hummingbird/butterfly-friendly flowers, then realized all flowers are pollinators and critter-friendly so it didn't matter which ones. My partner got two deck chairs and a little table, which we'll use when the weather gets warmer. So we'll be doing the same things you are, but I'd suggest you might also want some plant friends on the balcony. We can also use the rest of the deck occasionally for an hour or so, so in the summer we take our folding table out and have breakfast or dinner there, and sometimes invite one of our neighbors to join.

I’m am, according to the MBTI test, an INFJ person, and I watched the video on how to handle life as an HSP person. Those are things that are important to me because when I was in college I would get very nervous after having had too much social interaction, and I couldn’t understand what the issue was. You said it perfectly on the video that, that is a personality trait. Also, I’m focusing myself on becoming a minimalist. It won’t happen over night, but I already do some of the minimalistic stuff that you were discussing, like clothes shopping. I havn’t done that in a few years. I basically have everything I need and I have to get rid of some stuff. Thank you for your videos.

Moving itself is a big change in life. It could reprents at this point of your life there are other changes. I am happy for you everything turned out just fine. All the best to you.

I am a sensitive person too. And I went through the same thing you did (the night anxiety and panic attacks), at the end of March. It was something with the energies of the world. I am from Romania. A lot of sensitive people were struck by those energies.

Right now I'm in a similar situation as you were few months ago (part related to the house and the area I live in, the dangers, the noise, the dirty things around) and I'm so greatful to be able to move to a bigger house with a balcony, an extra room, a cleaner and safer space in general! I bought my first home two years ago on my birthday. I was very excited and very scared at the same time. Being raised in a traditional family, I never had credit to buy anything. Everything I own, I bought outright. Or if it's expensive enough, I have to wait patiently until I have a certain amount of money to buy it with cash or by waiting for a discount. Nevertheless, I took a leap of faith by buying a cozy little house with 25 years of credit up front. And it has been driving me crazy for several months. My husband, encouraged me to change my mindset a bit by paying a credit like I pay my monthly rent. Since then, I am less anxious and more excited about decorating my new home. I use milanote and planfloor to bring my ideas to life. It helps me a lot to avoid unnecessary purchases of furniture, decoration, etc. Congratulations on your new home Vera!

I want to give you a virtual hug. At 70, I've been through EVERYTHING you mentioned and know the anxiety.. and buying a home is near the top of the list. Every home transaction has been challenging, yet we have done it four times and after the 'dust' settles, we are very happy that we went through it. My two mantras are breathe ( I do yoga) and be still.. and it has served me well over the years. And yes, I still wake up at night sometimes with the' four am syndrome' over things I can't control.. it is part of the human condition. I wish you everything you hope for in your new home.

Yay, thank you so much!!! Yes, it's defitely an upgrade in many ways. Some parts of the apartment are a little bit less 'fancy' as this one, it's quite simple and definitely like a starter home, but I really don't mind, I just love the fact that it'll be ours and that we can live there simply, without having to worry about a huge mortgage or anything :)

I'm right there with you, Vera. The simplest everyday things I just have to go in my bedroom and lay down and block out everything to recover. The smallest things that need to be done overwhelm me. I get extremely anxious and cannot sleep or eat. I see these people getting all this stuff done, like it's a breeze and I just shake my head.. How? I am sorry to hear about your mom. I, too, have medical anxiety. My BP shoots up when I get around any medical. I understand everything you are saying.

Congratulations on the big purchase. Hearing you talk about how important it is to have a ‘safe’ feeling home, made me feel better. Moving is so traumatic for me. Even when the move is ‘good’. I feel more ‘normal’ after hearing your experience. I am sorry to hear of all you went through with your mom and how stressful and scary it is. Last year my mom had her 4th time having cancer and treatment. I thought I did so well through it until the worst was over and she was recovering well and then I had a huge crash. I actually did not recover until just this past fall. It does help so much to have the self care and mindfulness practices you have and especially minimalism. It just helps to have more bandwidth when stress does come. I hope you ‘recover’ well and quickly.

Things around us should trigger the good (!) things and not the others, we don't want. So we subcontiously struggle with this and that, because we are in our real comfort zone. My big thing the past 9 months is an elderly relative reaching the point she needed to move from an apartment to a room in a 24-hour care home and me managing her bills. So I had to dispose of her furniture and car and bring two dozen file containers to my place to sort through. She'd saved every bill and brochure from the past thirty years, and she'd had to submit her medical receipts every year for a housing discount so she had all those notebooks. Luckily several volunteers helped with the furniture and household items, otherwise I'd be overwhelmed. I've been taking a kind of break from it the past three months, but now I'm in the home stretch to finally finish going through those containers. I've long been a minimalist. Not extreme, but all my possessions fit in 2-3 pickup truck loads. So it's been an ordeal sorting through a non-minimalist's stuff, deciding what to keep. Some things she needs for use or documentation, some for nostalgia, but I have to decide what will be important in the future and what won't. She now has prefurnished room with few personal possessions, and she wants to avoid clutter accumulating there like it did in the apartment. So she says to throw away all the old photos and items I can't store, because she doesn't want my apartment filled with her clutter either. So now taking care of my clutter and her clutter has merged into the same thing. I've pared down my files a lot but I still need to do more, and let go of some old books I haven't read, and I'm staring at a yoga mat I haven't used for years but still maybe I'll get back into it someday. So that's the phase I'm in now.

Yay! Welcome back! I totally understand the the stress of buying a home. I have bought and sold two houses. It was HORRIBLE! Now I am so happy being a renter, and I am in a very good situation. I don't know if I will ever buy/own a home again. Sending well wishes to your mom, and sorry for your health scares. My goodness. You have had so much at once. I am a nurse and even I get scared with doctor visits. Life is so fragile. I think it reminds us to be grateful for health and safety. 📿

I think it's really helpful to think through how we manage in these times of catching many viruses, because this is often the cause of my breaks not being restorative. Every time I get time off work I'm sick and can't go out because I don't want others to get sick. I know there are things we can do at home but it is definitely harder to be intentional when your energy is all used up fighting off a virus.

March was all about phone detox, because my excessive phone usage was starting to become a problem, particularly at bedtim because I would get out of bed, switch on my phone watch reels on FB, and I would do that for about an hour or more. After watching a video about excessive phone usage, I decided to do something about it, so I removed FB, WhatsApp, KZread and internet browsers from my phone, and my sleep improved dramatically. This is another new habit that i'll be sticking to :)

Here in the UK my daughter has recently left uni and is struggling to even find somewhere affordable to rent, it shouldn't be this hard/stressful and I feel angry for young people dealing with this. Sounds like the stars aligned for you and I look forward to seeing the new place. Sorry to hear about your mum's health issue, how awful for you. Glad to hear she is home now. Our march was nice, finished up our post-op recovery and went back to work. Spent a lot of our off time working on music. We definitely know how you feel about the crazy rents- its been wild here in Canada too. We're very grateful for the place we're living right now, as the rent hs not increased since we moved in 4 years ago. The way you describe your neighbourhood w the abandoned buildings is very intriguing to us.

Vera, I'm so happy to see you again and thrilled to hear the good news! ☺ You have had quite a month in March dealing with so much, but good results overall, especially with your Mom's health even though she still has a way to go, she's improving little by little. Hee Vera, ik ben zo blij voor jullie dat jullie een huis hebben gevonden!! Begrijpelijk dat je wereld even helemaal op de kop staat, zeker met de andere pittige dingen die spelen (in de afgelopen maand). Ik hoop dat je de komende tijd goed door kan komen en kan genieten van het creëren van jullie nieuwe thuis! Ik ben al een aantal jaar een trouwe volger van je account, misschien niet iemand die vaak reageert, maar wel die trouw met je meekijkt. Sinds 1,5 jaar kwam ik er minder aan toe omdat ik een wereldreis aan het maken (was). Momenteel ben ik tijdelijk gesetteld op een eiland in de Caribische zee en vind ik weer wat meer rust voor mezelf en ook om je video's te kijken. Ik kijk weer naar je nieuwe video's en probeer ook je oude video's terug te kijken waar ik gebleven was. Het doet me goed om je video's weer te zien. Je manier van praten, ik vind het altijd fijn om naar je stem te luisteren hihi, en de verhalen die je verteld heb ik gemist. En ik vind je blonde krullen trouwens prachtig!! Veel succes met de onstuimige tijd de komende tijd!

WOW...that's a lot to handle...stress can come from good things (buying a new home, starting a new job, etc) as well as from difficult things!! Fellow medi-phobic here!! Needles are horrid yet I learned to deal in order to be a dart board for Pfizer vaccines...

That is great news about your move and sorry to hear about your mother. My only advice for the coming months is to be mindful of Wu Wei and be like water. Water flows around obstacles or cuts through them when needed. Look forward to more videos about your move

It seems life has thrown a whole year's worth of events into one month for you, but it's fantastic that some of them were so amazing. I'm super excited to see your new apartment and how it will look when you've put your personal touch on it. Moving home as a minimalist is a subject I'm quite fascinated by. I'm hoping that the rest of April will be sunnier and drier than March was in both our countries, so that some of that easy breezy spring-fresh spirit will carry us along during the month.

I love your videos. I identify with everything you talk about. I don't like medical or dental appointments at all.

I struggle a lot with dental anxiety so I feel you on the dentist and hygienist torturing you. 😂 My current one I have had for probably 15 years. His staff knows and gives me a stress ball. It has gotten better since he listened when something was really wrong and he wouldn't let it go. It took 2 years to find the problem. He never let it go and continued to work on figuring it out. We finally did and it was completely reasonable that it took him so long to find. His diligence and care helped calm my dental anxiety.

Thanks for sharing these details of your life. I am happy that your test results were normal. With so much happening in your life, anxiety is understandable. Please upload only as much as you can. Best wishes.
