I'm Back Playing Hearthstone and EVERYTHING Changed

Ойындар

BLIZZARD MONTH BEGINS!! I'll be streaming Hearthstone, StarCraft 1/2, WoW, Heroes of the Storm, and more!
For now, though, I'm jumping into HEARTHSTONE all week long! How the hell does this game even work now? I'll be opening packs, netdecking, and brewing!

The thing is, some of his complaints are intentionally designed. Like having to click rewards encourages players to go into shops, where they can spend money. The 900 shops is based on gacha design to encourage more purchases. It’s meant to be confusing so people can feel good when they find a “deal” with the different currencies/shops and give money to blizzard. It works.

Its actually insane based on last played date - I booted the game up to unlock the new WoW Hearthsteed reskin (its free, im not gonna say no) and figured i may as well check out some new cards, but unfortunately last time I played for myself was way back around release, so Hearthstone threw me tutorials for every. single. screen. It was a barrage of ~10-15 mins of nonstop tutorial (not even reading, just skipping them all), so my brain just switched off and I went from ''lets play a couple rounds' to 'lets play something else' inside about 30 seconds. That 10-15 mins was not even me trying to figure out how to play the game - it was purely trying to figure out how to quit legitimately through all the forced tutorial popups. In hindsight I should have alt+f4'd The barrier to entry is incredibly high, to the point id be very surprised if anyone actually starts this for the first time any more, and i'm sure day9 was deeply regretting his choice for at least parts of this stream.

The "Hearthstone" label should read "Constructed" and the "Modes" label should read "Other Modes." I suspect they didn't use "Constructed" because they were concerned that players wouldn't know what that meant, both old and new players. They might be right. But they don't know what "Hearthstone" means either (isn't it all Hearthstone?). I guess it's better than a big tacky arrow saying "main game here."

He really was the funniest hearthstone content creator.. theres a reason we still talk about making larger and larger men, into an even LARGER man.

I'm laughing at Day9 opening reward menus from the UX like he's getting pepper sprayed with confetti. XD

Welcome back! You made my week on a consistent basis back when you played. The time you faced the Mage that pulled the RNG Mysterious Challenger and proceeded to cast all his Secrets lives in infamy

This is so funny i started watching all of Rarran HS videos coz of the algorithm. Although i havent played for years and i saw alot of videos with Day9 about the good old days of HS. Damn that game had an insane peak and was soso fkn good back then with worlds and everything. Makes me wanna jump back in again too sometimes ^^

This game has been a mobile first designed game for so long, everything else has to fit in around that. Designing for no hover, context click etc means you have to fight for screen real estate, especially when mobile buttons need to be so big compared to a cursor!

I also recently opened hearthstone for the first time in years and the accumulation of content, notifications, and shoehorned UI was one of the most baffling experiences of my life

59:48 That exact kind of extreme tempo shift is the reason why I stopped playing HS and why every time I give it another chance I end up giving up on the game. The game has powercrept itself into a corner where that kind of ridiculous shift happen every other turns and you can't do anything about it, outside of trying to pull the same kind of shifts because the game doesn't have any interactions during the turn of your adversary. It just feels very bad and extremely RNG.

I'm glad Day9 came back. I remember when journey to ungoro came out and I queued into him randomly and beat him. His reaction was so funny lol. Good times.
