Holy shit dude, i CANNOT thank you enough. Recently I had my turbo replaced and ever since then my car has had this wooshing sound. almost like a vacuum, and then this tiny blow off noise. I knew it wasn’t normal.. You’re a god send, brother.

I know I’m 3 years late - but I am having the same “pshhhh” noise from the passenger side and going to try replacing diverter valve this weekend. Been trying to fix the boost/accelerating issues for a while now fingers crossed. This video was massively helpful

Hey there! Chances are it's the diverted valve. They make the psshhh sound when they fail. Also, make sure your intake couplers and hose clamps are tight as well. Good luck!

Everything you said is exactly on point, it was a little cool at first then hella annoying, that acceleration lag gets hella old hella fast, and it never looks hella busted and I should’ve replaced it first. Same issue on my GTI, gave your video a watch, went back and swapped out that pesky diverted valve and now I have the same super big cheesy smile you did. “THANK YOU SO DAMN MUCH MAN!!!!!!”. I wasn’t a subscriber to your channel before but after this consider me a fan until the end bro, can’t tell you how much this saved me more money, time, and frustration. And the DRL’s look mighty fine on her, thanks again and keep up the good work helping other VW owners like me not look and feel like such idiots lol.

Thanks for sharing and very Beautiful Jetta! Unfortunately we don't have this Jetta in Australia! What physical condition was the old diverter valve ? I have some funny noises from like sucking air - whistle and then when i release the accelerator pedal i have that fake blow off valve noise! But when i check my diverter valve looks ok without any cracks.

The old diverter valve looked fine. No visible cracks or signs of wear. I remember checking it but it didn't look defective. As soon as i replaced it, the "blow off valve" issue went away. I recommend replacing it first. They're inexpensive and takes about 15 minutes to replace 👍

@@JoelsDriveway did you had any engine light? Yes i have order my one it's on the way the latest version. But i didn't had any engine light at all, i just have the funny turbo noises. Thank you very much

@@nikosraptis1985 No check engine light on mine. It ran a little sluggish at times but not enough to give a code. Felt good to finally get rid of that silly noise though.

Do you know if they have to pull the turbo out for 17 gli? I wanna change diverter valve I feel like it’ll drive better it’s a bit laggy and makes bov sounds sometimes haha just like you said . Can i upgrade dv

On the newer Gli, its located on the top. From what I've seen, it depends if one of the coolant lines is blocking one of the screws. Some people had to unbolt the turbo for extra clearance but not 100% necessary. Its just in a tight spot.

Have you changed spark plugs or coil packs? Sounds like one might be bad.

I actually did this morning after I took it out for a test drive after clearing a boost controller code I tighten the diverted valve sputtered the slightest and got cylinder 4 misfire so swapped that out and it dosent stutter thanks tho surprised you reached out that quick

The leak was it a high pitch noise ?

It was more of a "pshhh" sound coming from the passenger side. Not so much high pitched.
