Looks like the dashcam portion doesn't extend out like the one you have.

I love it, installed one just like what you have. It's great for backing up and parking closer to a car in back.

I have a very similar setup from Haloview for the back of my travel trailer. My dad purchased the Haloview that has the typical square screen to attach to the windshield but I always like to make things look the most factory as possible to i got the mirror version and I am happy with it.

I drive a cargo van as my daily driver, I don't even have any back windows. This mirror would be perfect. 👍

I am looking forward to getting one. I think it a great idea, I think the older we get, it is important to see more backing up. Great safety . I think it's an awesome idea because your all ready trained to look at your mirror.

I absolutely love this feature in my 2020 Sierra 1500 AT4. I love not having glare at night.

I too have this very unit. It has been a true blessing. It was originally in my 2011 F150 supercab, and provided excellent backup views, since the truck did not have backup cameras. Moved the mirror and camera to my 2023 F350 Super Duty crew cab, that does have a backup camera, but am going to install the camera on the back of the travel trailer. Just need to figure out the wiring for that installation at the moment. Wish me luck. Safe travels, and keep that precious bundle safe.

This would be perfect if it could also attach to a second rear camera that could be wirelessly placed on the back of a trailer and give you the option to switch between the two as needed. I'd buy one today.

You may be able to purchase an extended length separate cable to be able to extend the rear view camera to the back of a trailer. I did that on another brand of rearview mirror camera, and attached to back of UTV on my trailer, and it worked just fine.

@MrUtubeobia That's certainly an option, but trying to get a cable from the cab to the back of a 35' fifth wheel night be quite a chore. That's why I mentioned "wirelessly", so it's like my current Furion camera.

Nice to see you followed up with a new unit. As one who does a lot of electronic device reviews I have to call you out for the previous pan of this Wolfbox mirror due to out of box issues. I always contact the seller or manufacturer to make sure I've not made an error and there is in fact a defect. I wait for a replacement then do the review and mention the previous issues if relevant. Anything can have a problem brand new no matter the cost. Regardless, this was informative and I hope it works well for you, it's certainly piqued my interest in trying one as well.

100% agree on Ford needing to allow access to the bed camera while driving. I can't tell you how many times I was hauling something in my F-150, either in the bed or on a trailer, and it would have been really nice to be able to look at it without having to stop and get out. Also, I definitely need one of these for my 2022 Bronco. With the top on, the rear view mirror is almost useless. Especially with a 37" tire on the gate.

Center mounted camera works while driving in my '21 F250, should on your future one as well. Nice to keep an eye on the cargo/trailer.

I added one yesterday (different brand though) to restore rear view when camper is loaded, great use of technology!

I have an at4 3500 that came with this....soooo much better than the mirror. Helps brighten up the view at night and no glare. Also like that it can toggle to see the bed or trailer.

I have a wolfbox rearview camera system for my girlfriends car. It is a great camera even though the back camera failed. Their warranty was awesome and they sent a replacement no questions asked.

I have this in my 2022 RAM 3500 Limited Longhorn Mega Cab from the factory. Mine also came with a camera to mount on the back of a trailer. My truck also came with additional cameras that mount to the rear and sides, which show up on my 12 inch factory infotainment screen when in reverse or changing lanes. Of course I love this technology! Great video JD.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I had a 2021 rav4 that had a digital mirror, I never used the regular mirror. I had it for a year and 13k miles.. then I sold it and bought a vehicle that it's not a possible option. Off to amazon I went and found this.. better resolution, records, front camera as well..AND considerably cheaper than a factory one. I've added these to both of my vehicles, and about 10 others of family and friends lol!

I love the camera package on my 2020 Chevy Duramax Silverado 2500 HD. One of the selling points for me !

I have the factory mirror in my 21 GMC 3500 and really like the view I get with it. I very rarely use the standard mirror view.

I installed a G900 in my Maverick and like you I love it. I mounted the rear camera on top of the receiver hitch. It's low, but it works. 100% unobstructed behind me. I intended to put this in my F150, but wasn't totally satisfied with rear camera placement on the license plate. I'm glad I got to see your view from mounting the camera in the rear window. It's not ideal, but it works I guess. I'm not thrilled with the bed always in the view, but options are limited with pickup trucks.

I got it, I’m happy with it, great recording. Sometimes it doesn’t turn on but it is recording. I just don’t see the view as I’m driving.

This would be a good upgrade to any classic vehicle.

I use a ghetto version of this with a WiFi security camera mounted to the back of my truck camper and an old phone mounted in the cab running the viewer software.

The TV station I worked for had a rear view camera on an E-350 van. It took a surprisingly short time to get used to. I found it easier to parallel park that damned van than my Chevy Malibu 🤣

I have the OEM version on my 2022 Denali HD. I really really like it. Especially at night.

The problem with the RVC is the jack. I had similar issues with the GPS, a second GPS worked even though the plugs looked OK, The first one worked then stopped working then worked later on down the road. Once swapped out, worked fine. The one issue I have with this setup is that huge cover over the Ford sensors blocks part of the video to the right. I also can't move the mirror fully to the left to use it as a mirror as the camera doesn't have enough movement to the left to get full forward view while getting full backward view. I have the G840S in my F-450. I mounted the RVC to the slider window on the inside. Works perfectly.

The real test is at night. Daytime any camera can preform well, even a cereal box would do good

I had a Vantop rear view mirror that was similar to this if not the exact same under a different name.. It was 4k front and 1080p rear. Or 2k+2k. It was good for a year before the plastic band attachment location broke off and then it stopped working altogether 6 months later. I didn’t have tint so it got really hot up there but no as hot as it would be in florida Texas or Arizona.

Nascar has added a camera along with their rear view mirror. The drivers tried locating the monitor in several different positions. I think I would like it inorder to help reduce blind spots. That is why I added side cameras as well as a rear camera on my 34ft gooseneck cargo trailer. Goodluck and give an update in 6mo or so.

I mounted the rear view camera to the headliner centered in the sliding window. I'd send a photo if I could figure out how to do it. Nice system.

I have two. I like the rear view reverse cam so I know of a child or animal walks behind me. The. I also have an always on similar to yours which is the default. I plan to add wheel placement cams at some point. I do a lot of off-road stuff. Peace!

I installed the mastertailgaters version that is an OEM replacement mirror rather than a cover for the mirror. many people reported the bands that hold these strap monitors on will rot away and the unit will fall off the mirror. I am now working on upgrading my truck mirror though to a 4 or 5 camera model so I can select different cameras for backing into campsites if needed.

Definitely want this now. Biggest issue is figuring out where to mount the rear camera in my Colorado

I removed the stock mirror from my 2016 GMC 3500 and mounted it with a magnetic phone mount. Runs great and looks better than the mirror on mirror look.

I daily drive a Tesla and we have a Silverado 3500HD LTZ with the same rear view camera as your GMC… I want all the cameras on everything now. I’m looking to add to our Avalanche farm truck as well as my ‘64 Chevy panel truck. This of one of the top rear view cameras I’ve seen so far. Looking into quality blind spot cameras as well.

Bought a Cadillac CT6 a few years ago that had one of these, and man am I ruined for regular rearview mirrors now! I just bought a new vehicle that didn't have the cam mirror, and it's driving me nuts not having the rearview mirror cam. I have an appointment to get another one installed. After suffering a neck injury and 2 cervical fusions, I can't turn my head too far. The cam mirror takes care of that. By the time someone gets out of the cam view, I can see it out of the corner of my eye. Blind spots completely eliminated!

On a suggestion from someone else, I tried this mirror and returned it. The glare from the rear headlights is worse than looking directly in the mirror itself. The contrast when going through tunnels and under bridges is bad enough that it has a hard time adjusting, too. You lose your stereo vision for a flat screen with only 2D. The video format is proprietary and not viewable on a normal computer. When viewed using their app, you have to export it as an MP4 and then you are prompted to purchase the special Codec if you want to view it! Removing the micro SD card is nearly impossible. When I did to download the images, reinserting it was even worse! It would not record anything. I took it back out and found some kind of goo all over the contacts. Only after cleaning it off did it start recording again. When the camera is operating and I cycle the key, such as when the key is on but the engine is off for a period of time and then later I start the engine, the device cycles off and will not start back up even by pressing the power button. I have to unplug the power and plug it back in to get it to start up again. I returned the device and will find something that is more to my liking. At least my Viofo's rear camera is capable of delivering good quality images in any light!

I am looking forward to rear view camera for our Sprinter van. I cannot figure out why for years manufactures keep placing the rear view mirror in line with the rear door posts. Offset it slightly will give a better view behind the vehicle. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.

I got the G900 the only bad thing is when you got the rear camera on, when looking at it in the mirror you see 2 pictures at once. The rear camera and out your back window. So you got 2 the rear camera picture and your rear view mirror picture it’s confusing so I shut the rear camera off and use it as a regular rear view mirror. It’s still recording though. I could move it and not see the back window in the mirror but the rear camera makes objects look farther away than they are. That’s a big deal on the highway.

The two pictures at once on my vantop h610 from 2019 bothers me and it seems like something that is still an issue with today's mirrors. Been thinking about upgrading but that issue is holding me back. Have not checked if that is an issue with oem mirrors though.

I do like the reverse camera on my minivan, but I really want a system like this for my E350 extended van - where the rear windows are so far back and high above the road surface that a standard windshield mirror is pretty much useless. The actual camera is the tricky part since this camera is not quite what I'd like to see.

Wish there was a high quality one. With a topper, would love two inputs, one for truck and one for travel trailer

Nice review. I was looking at this one myself and saw they have a different mount so that it replaces your OEM Mirror and cleans up the install. Time will tell if it will last in the Texas heat.

I've seen some after-market modules that work with Ford trucks to free up the factory cameras and allow the use of all the cameras at any time. Currently, you are limited as to which cameras you can view while driving. I don't see any reason that manufacturer could not add the ability to record video.

I love this feature on my 2024 Chevy 2500. Freaked me out a little at first I’ll admit.

Can you post a video of recording playback? Possible the "jitteriness" is more due to the refresh rate of the display and not the framerate of the video itself. And maybe some night time video, curious to see how washed out the rear view camera gets when vehicle lights are behind you.

That would be nice to convert to a trailer camera system.

after your first video I went and bought the 840 model . I am leary of hooking it up directly ie hardwire but concerned about battery draw. any suggestions. I also mounted my camera inside. the only drawback is that when I am driving seems to have alot of glare from daylight in the rearview mirror. so far I am liking it for backing up to 5th wheel to hitch up so far good product. what is the light bar for in the rear window?

JD…have you found a product like this (Wolfbox) that also incorporates the wireless trailer camera as well? A rear view mirror display with an attached forward facing camera that also has a wireless camera screen?

I've gone through all the big name dash cams in the past decade. I just gave up after being ripped off by Garmin for $500.00. Then I found Wolfbox G850. I now own 2 of them and have never found anything with all the features. It's less than $200.00 for the system and hardware (wiring power for 24hr cam). I prefer the cam off while my daughter prefers it on. All about personal preference and this system accounts for personal setups. No wifi or Bluetooth on the G850. Step up to the 900 system for total spacecraft control. Not needed for me. It's a install, set and forget it's there until you need it. Then all is well. No, won't patch into your onboard cams, they are not video quailty anyway just a pic to park with. The video quailty is fantastic. I have been in contact with the company and you can actually contact them and talk to a living human being, I know, weird..... If this system won't work for you then it's safe to say no system in the market today will.

I am considering a Tadi Brothers version of this. They claim to have a 70 ft wireless version that you can use on the back of a trailer. Has anyone heard of them or have any experience with them? I like others would like a wireless version that could fit over/replace the current rear view mirror (since it is useless when towing a 5th wheel except to know that you haven't lost it along the way) and wirelessly connect to 1 or ideally 3 cameras attached to your trailer. The last thing I want is yet another screen to have to look at as I already have a TMPS, Garmin and dashcam. What would be great is if Lippert or some RV accessories company would develop a tablet type device that would connect with cameras, trailer aware GPS/Maps, TPMS all in one place.

I bought the 930 about a week ago and it worked great until today. Rear camera not detected now.

GM camera work’s even better in the Camaro. Much wider view than the window allows.

Front facing dash cam should be placed on the passenger side of the mirror.

I have a 2019 Silverado 1500, did NOT come with the Factory Rear View Camera, I wish it did. I can get the Factory Camera System from Infotainment Systems in Florida, only issue is the price ($1400.00). I don't mind doing the work to install either. I would prefer for that price the system would include a Dash Camera, but it does not. I will follow up with your reviews on this system. Thanks.

I need this for my work transit van. It doesn't even have a rearview mirror and horrible visibility.

The issue I see is dead space behind rear of truck. Anything can be in that zone

My biggest concern is what occurs at night when being closely followed by another car. Does it auto dim as do other high end rear view mirrors ?

I had one like this on a stretched limo and it did great at night adjusting to headlight. A real lifesaver addition for that vehicle.

JD, are you sure you can’t use that bed camera while driving in the ford? I have a 2022 F250 lariat and I can toggle to the bed cam and the rear/hitch cam while driving and it stays there.

No. At least on the 17s the cameras are disabled once the car is above something like 5 mph according to GPS. I found this annoying and bought a NavTV to “fix” this oversight.

It's been a few months since you did the install. Are you still liking it? How is it in high and low light conditions?

the box you have says g930 but the link takes you to the g840s. Which one do you actually have?

If you've not figured this out yet, you can get very long USB-C cables (make sure they are good for video/data) and some female-to-female USB-C connectors. Get a second camera, use some dielectric grease at the connection points and heat shrink the cable to keep it protected and a secure connection. The only pitfall is that you will have to swap the USB-C connection at the mirror between the towing camera and the backup camera because this only supports one at a time.

Nice review! Why didnt you look at the 900? And also why didnt you go for the license plate bracket mount? I have F150 lightning and I wish the OEM cameras would record stuff. Did you try other areas to mount the rear camera?

There is a problem while using the camera here at night time it doesn't replace off of cars and it's just white blotches

Does this go into rear camera mode automatically when your start the car? Im in and out of my car all day so if it does that then im buying it now.

Do both cameras record, regardless of what is displayed? In other words, if your mirror is showing the rear camera, and you get rear-ended, will it record that?

I like it, now to get it without static from the wife. think " but hon is safer, and I need it " would work ?

That looks silly how it doesn't completely hide the old mirror. They couldn't make it just an inch wider to do the trick?

Is there a good solution for 'Rear View Cameras' and truck toppers? Are they able to be moved to the back of the topper? My wife jokingly said, well you can't see out of the mirror with a topper anyways, so what does it matter? I mean, she's not wrong, but I don't want to spend money on expensive unusable features.

Does the dash cam record parked incidents? Is it recording with the truck off. That's important to many folks. Parking incidents happen here in Vegas all the time. Nobody ever leaves a note if they hit you in a parking lot. I'm waiting for car makers to come out with side view cameras. Blind spots could be eliminated with the technology. I think their just waiting for the DOT to get off their asses and make it legal.
