The sound of Philly! Who's still listening until the end of time? 😊❤👍👏💯
Simply put! This is lovely, this is real Art. Precious 70's and 80's. Thank you Lord for those times.
Color of Soul band is about to explode...2023... Black and White these guys were the best!!
Soul funky jazzero. Ritmo, swing. 🎸 Faabuloooossoo!!! ❤️
Real professional musicians!! Real music!!♥️♥️🏆🏆🎯🎯
This is what’s missing today (2020)
The majority of what would be called MFSB have sadly passed away ,except for the legendary Earl Young........the other members of the rhythm section ,Norman Harris,Ronald Baker ,Ron 'Have Mercy' Kersey and the iconic conga and bongo player Larry Washington (check the beginning of the Ojays' I Love Music)are presently keeping Heaven rocking with their one of a kind sound

I believe it was Rikki Hicks on the congas on the studio release of this. And indeed, this looks like Rikki Hicks here too on this video. Sadly he passed away a few years ago. Also I see Jimmie Williams on bass guitar here ('Ain't no stoppin us now' original studio bass player). Don't forget legend Bobby Eli as part of MFSB too :-)
@Bandtraxs

Off course, I am doubting myself for some reason. Rikki was The O'Jays percussionist and I was told he actually played on 'I Love Music' in the studio. I have recorded in Philly and Rikki was on the session I did with Bobby Eli ('Soul Recession' by Double Exposure (2008) written by myself, Bobby and Chiquite Green).
OMG...that was more than just music...that was an EXPERIENCE!!
I met Earl Young and got his autograph when he was with the Trammps. I still treasure it, his drumming on the original MFSB orchestra is sensational. He also did fantastic drumming on the Black and Blue album by Harold Melvin and the Blue notes, with Teddy Pendergrass’s sensational singing. It’s my favourite Album of all time. Have a listen.
Mr. Gamble & Mr. Huff NEED to launch a SiriusXM channel.

I AGREE 100 %..........THE PHILLY SOUND WAS THE 70'S .....NO ONE COULD TOUCH GAMBLE AND HUFF BACK THEN !!!!!!!!!!
You will never see the like of these guys again. Black and White playing together in perfect harmony. God I wish I could have been there!

I love the white sax player looking over and rocking out to the rhythm section during his rest.
As well as Gamble & Huff in the philly stable is Dexter Wansal and the "Sweetes Pain" I think this is very underated and the version by Loose Ends is as good as the original. Gamble & Huff, MFSB, Dexter, Teddy, Mcfadden & Whitehead & Lou Rawls ARE THE SOUND OF THE 70'S & 80'S Respect to all. Robert from Manchester England
Get down, get down, with the Mighty O'Jays Orchestra.
Engineer Joe Tarsis allegedly has tapes of original Philly International recordings. These tapes have the vocals but when they fade out the band kept cooking .
Lawd Jesus! Dem horns! ....all of these muscians ard amazing together AND individually. I'm blessed to have shared stage with most....and continue to do so now. Humbled.
a genuine bad ass song, no matter how it's delivered
MFSB with the O'Jays"s rhythm section. Featuring Darren, Jimmy and Freddy. Oh,that Philly sound! You can say all you want about Motown But Motown had nothing on the Philadelphia sound. The Philly had a certain sophistication and rawness to it,which set it above other sounds. It was funky when needed to be and really smooth and laid back at other times. The Soul Train theme was really classic example of all this put together. I really miss this kind of really good musicianship and producing. Nothing on today's market can even compare to it. I long for the old days of real music and musicians.

Among the soul house bands (Funk Brothers, Booker T. & The MG's, Love Unlimited Orchestra) MFSB are still the classiest, sexiest, sassiest, most refined and sophisticated of them all.
That was by far the very definition of a tight band...wow
The guy on the sax face 5:27 and 5:42 said(man that’s funky) lol. And that drummers pocket 6:02 is on point. And the violinist 6:24 ,you know you jamming when the band is feeling it!

Yes indeed, that jam session could have went at least 15-30 minutes. I've played in some long jam sessions and when you feeling it , it hard to stop. Definitely takes some restraint...
I’d sure like to know more about the guitarist and how to follow him. His RB Funk moves are hot to say the least. The whole band is great, but he knows just how and when to cut through the mix with great licks and fills without getting in the way
