I LOVE How EMPATHETIC FILIPINOS Are

From our run-in with the airport security lady to the Cebu Pacific staff to so many others around the Philippines..
Filipinos are super great at empathy. They are able to step into the shoes of others so well, and it's something that helps them band together and work as a team to thrive.
I hope we can learn something from the Philippines.

There was a time when I was in a jeepney and I forgot that I have no coins with me so I asked the strangers if they have a changed for my 1000 peso bill because I’m certain that the driver won’t have a changed for that amount. And then there was this girl that I asked if she have other bills to exchanged with my money and she said “no.” Instead, she paid for my fare without asking something in return. Even it was only a small amount compare to the money I have, I feel very luck that someone really offered to me without expecting anything in return and I think that’s beautiful. ❤️

Filipinos are taught the Golden Rule since they're young: "Do unto others what you want others to do unto you." The mindset is, "what if I or one of my family members is in the same predicament? I would want someone to help me or them out also ."

Key thing is have fun and enjoy here but be wary of your environment at some point (mostly it depends upon the place you are in). Just like every country there is a dark side on the other side of the coin but basically, people here are very much willing to help and are hospitable. In a bunch of any fruit there is always a defected part.

I’m a local and one time I visited a friend in Clark Pampanga a nearby province. On going back I came to the toll and realized I left my bag with my purse and all in it. I stalled for a while near the toll hoping for a miracle. A while later, a driver asked what happened and after I explained my predicament, he handed me money for the toll. Yes, Filipino empathy and kindness is true.

We emphasize because we know how it feels to have nothing and most of us did not have the opportunity that other people have to give them advantage in life. we know and we understand when people goes through the same difficulties we experienced, and this is something that the worlds need. Apathy for me is sin that some people commit but never felt wrong about it. World needs to care for each other and that's how understanding starts basically. 😊

It's true!!! One day after a long day of work. As i was about to to pay a jeepney driver i was soooo shock at finding out that i lost my fair. I was about to cry because i don't know how will i go home without it! I have no cellphone, no coins to call home to when i whisper to the driver " sir, i lost my fair and i can't pay yòu to ride your jeepney and i really need to go home. After saying that, he just smiles at me and said nothing. Then he ask where would you want to go ? I told him the place then he smiles and said relax. I was soooo relieved!!!! That is why i love my country more!!!!

We also care a lot about our image and what other people think of us. That’s why sometimes, we are coerced to be kind and empathetic, especially towards foreigners. Haha. But yes, I feel like Filipinos are usually more emotional and sensitive to other people’s needs. There was a viral photo recently of a leukemia patient riding the MRT on his way to a television network to seek help. Instead, the people in the train started chipping in money for him so he can have the diagnostics exams he needed. Filipinos understand what it feels like to have hardships, so when we come across someone who needs help, we are usually helpful towards them. Because we know how they feel. But of course, all countries have their bad apples.

When I was in college, my class just got back from a field trip, and it was late at night. While we were waiting for jeepney rides to go to our homes, a teen approached all of the student groups to beg for food. "baka may sobra po kayong pagkain?" (do you have extra food?) When he was done collecting the food. He approached a family sleeping at a waiting shed (like a small covered bus stop). He left all the food he'd collected, then he walked away. Apparently, he does not know the sleeping family, but just felt sorry for them that he begged food from us for them. --- The world is a richer place, when even those who are poor looks out for those who are poorer than them.

Of course all cultures have they're good and not so good sides. Our own also 😒. If we focus on the good sides of each other, we will see the wonderful truth in reality! All people are basically the same. Skin colors, diff beliefs, language diffs...all of it, is not reason to pass n believe in negative assumptions. Learn to embrace each other's cultures, look past or through any if at all previous, negative thoughts about others. Philipinos go above and beyond in so many ways. Admirable culture on the most part. I'm on a personal mission to encourage anti racism. KZread is a great start.

My husband’s friend initially got so weirded why I’m too nice and giving. A lot doubted it thinking that we have a malicious motive. My husband have to reassure his friend that it’s normal in our culture to be that generous and giving. If you are our visitor in a traditional Filipino family, it’s common that you will receive the best of everything because you are a visitor!

Thanks for this observation. I am always hopeful that ALL FILIPINOS will look to all the positivities, despite what we lack. Contrary to what the others said, that our country is too bizarre to change. I am always hopeful and thankful to anyone who would see the Philippines and its People (the Filipinos) as emphatic, kind, hospitable, talented, and loving. Again, thank you and God bless.
