i´ll fly away.(o brother)

Фильм және анимация

Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away)
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away)
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch

    I wish she didn't coattail this version of the song with her own on the album, though. It's nowhere close, nowhere close. Could have done without it. Welch's version almost assuredly gets the most mistaken listens to of any songs ever of people looking for this song. That they put her version on the OST instead of this one is nothing short of highway robbery and extremely subversive advertising in my opinion xD.

    THE INSIDE SCOOP ON THIS SONG: This is the Kossoy Sisters with Eric Darling on banjo released on their first album Bowling Green. This version is not on the movie CD. The movie was too cheap to pay the Kossoy Sisters so they had Alison Krause do a version (which Alison intentionally flubbed to stand up for the Kossoy Sisters). The Kossoy Sisters didn't get a nickel for use of the song in the Movie. In fact, they didn't even know their tune would be in the movie until it came out and people started calling them.

    The version in the film was not sung by Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch but by the Kossoy Sisters.

    Just a reminder, this song was written and performed by the Kossoy Sisters, who released it 50 years prior to this film. They did not receive any royalties.

    Such a simpler time. No constant news, no constant everything rushing around like mad. It was the depression but to some, it was life and they got on with it the best way they knew how. I love seeing the scene with the two boys carrying the ice blocks. That's how food was refrigerated then. Sometimes we get so far ahead of ourselves I think we lost something.
