This guy is exactly right!! My daddy was in trucking business for 35 years and he would never let his checking account for his trucking company get below $125,000 because he had eight trucks on the road and he always said you never know when one’s gonna break down or how long it might be down and you’ve got to have money in the bank to pay for it he never let his banking account get low. But my momma got a new car every three years and we took a big vacation for a week to Florida or Myrtle Beach every year! My daddy was a good businessman and he had some other stuff on the side that I got into And I made a good living from just listening to what my daddy said to do

@@SB-df8vy save and buy a truck outright, my opinion would be a freightliner Columbia or FLD with a Detroit engine because those are the models I've seen that are cheapest to fix when things happen. A reman Detroit engine goes for around $5,000-$7,500 without the core charge. Plus knowing how to work on your own vehicle helps cut labor out of your maintenance cost. So realistically to get a decent truck, insurance, authority, numbers, etc you'll want about $50k in the bank to start out. Considering a new vehicle is around that range, I would consider the rig a much more worth while investment.

Great video, but one thing truckers fail to do is planning for retirement. I was a trucker and really didn't know much on growing my earnings then i was working. People grappling with the difficulty of meeting essential expenses often encounter this situation due to inadequate savings during their working years. The decisions taken in readiness for retirement carry extensive consequences, as demonstrated within my own family dynamics. Differing investment approaches yielded disparate results. Guided by a financial advisor, I'm currently retired and still earn monthly from my investments.

Indeed, that's accurate. I'm currently in my mid-50s. My wife and I were on a similar path until a couple of years ago when I decided to shift my investments to her wealth manager. While I haven't quite caught up to her accumulated profits over the years, I'm at least earning more now. I'm generating income even before retirement, and my retirement fund has experienced remarkable growth compared to what it would have with just the 401(k). It's quite amusing.

Don't you mean you're glad she stayed with him? They came up with a plan that he would save all his money outside of whatever essentials he needed on the road, and she would take care of everything else on what USED TO be a basic teacher salary. It is an extreme rarity nowadays for a woman to want to build with a man and not touch any of that 82 grand yearly profit he was coming home with. Did you hear that they lived off her salary and the interest on his savings per year? After 5 years of savings he has 410k. At a 4% high yield savings, that's 16,400 in year 6 on interest. Year 7 is 19,980 on 492k. Year 8 is 22,960 on 574k. Year 9 is 26,240 on 656k, and year 10 is 29,520 on 738k. Once he hit 820k on his 10th year, you're talking 32,800 at a 4% high yield savings. Those are per year and if they could keep that 4% high yield savings. So over the span of 6 years, before taxes, the interest alone on all that money he was saving at 4% APR would be 148k. My God if I could find a woman like this, I'd make us wealthy for myself personally, but on the strength of her being so damn rare that it would motivate me even more.

No matter how well you plan it, you’re gonna fall out of rapport with friends and miss out on countless moments with family. I stayed local and started things on the side.

Life is all about long term sacrifices... some people work and live really close to family and friends only to end up distancing from them for different reasons. Sometimes you need a break from people including family to be able to meditate and clear up your thought patterns. You said 10 years... what about fucking up most of your life ? In other countries people work 12 to 15 hours DAILY just to be able to eat and not be homeless and they don't even complain. People in the states are weak and lazy as fuck and ungrateful.

The budgeting, discipline to live frugally, and support system (a.k.a. the wife) are keys to success in trucking. Ps: For the bachelors like myself it is still possible 100% but much harder. Our time-management skills to get quality rest, prep meals, manage any additional sources of income we have, exercise, and/or get our minds in the correct mental-state to work 12-14 hours everyday 5-6 days/week needs to be impeccable.
