I went to Dubai for the first time a couple weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised. As for a USA comparison, it’s more like an improved Vegas. Nothing like Los Angeles in my opinion respectfully. No gambling, way way less drunk people, & more of an international crowd… but that larger than life everything brand new with the build outs was super noticeable. I know it was touched on in this video, but way safer feeling in Dubai compared to the majority of metropolitan cities in the USA.

I’ve visited Dubai (about 10 years ago) and I’ve been living in Las Vegas for the past 8 years. I’ll say this, back then I felt Dubai was Las Vegas on steroids. Now, Las Vegas still can’t keep up. Raiders, Golden Knights, Aces, Athletics and new casinos and hotels, still doesn’t keep up with Dubai today. Just my opinion.

The growth part is super critical and a lot of people simply don't comprehend it, or understimate its value. As a Brit, the UK has a clear culture of "traditional complacency." Where we keep around what's "old" and simply patch over it if it breaks, resulting in a lot of really inefficient, overly complex, and unreliable foundations to society. Pweople are more concerned with preserving what they have left, rather than growing and building, and it's extremely depressing for people like me. The world is moving on and leaving the west behind, and we in the west have this misconception that the pedigree of our countries and cultures is enough. It isn't. Our cities are old and stagnating, while being full of crime. Dubai is far from perfect, but I think it's the best choice an international citizen has for a safe and secure future.

Housing rent is expensive, traffic is bad especially during rush hours, everything is expensive here. Spoke to some local immigrants and they said things are expensive and they dont save any money, they cant bring in their family, the only reason they are sticking around here is that they no other options as back home in their home country they have a high rate of unemployment. unless one has a high paying job you are ok, otherwise its not affordable or feasible to live here long term. Was there for 9 years and it really does depend on who you are, what you do, and where you're from. Whilst cost is relative to your earnings, without a doubt, Dubai is not value for money and has gotten worse. That goes for food and beverage and service in almost every industry. As I said, if your nationality restricts you from choosing any country, then Dubai may be an option, but otherwise, there are many many countries that are better value for money, better weather, lifestyle, travel and better for doing business and establishing a company.
@TH-qk6ez

The weather factor my friend, I am not sure if I can handle the heat in Dubai but certainly sunshine means a lot to how one feels about life in general...Mediterranean weather 👍
Very helpful
Few points I must say so people get the full picture. I lived there for years and yes, it is safe and nice IF you go where the westerners are located. Don't believe me, have a look at some stats on sa... You will pay 1st world prices for 3rd world services and products. If you're an outdorrsie kinda person the uae IS NOT the place for you. If you like shopping and hanging out at cafes, it's for you. It really is expensive and the traffic is horrible. HORRIBLE!! you will always need to live close to work, so factor that in. Overall, it is a nice country and I love the locals (what emiraties call themselves). If they keep the standards they have now, I would say there are so many pros. Even tho I have stated some cons. And remember, you're in a place with a lot of sand, what health issues can that lead to... lung cancer. The most common form of cancer. So if you do it, be smart. Best of luck

Dubai was based on Singapore as far as law and order. I’ve been visiting for a long time - but always Nov - March. In the summer my friends say you exercise (run tennis, football) outside at 6AM or 10PM. But there are plenty of indoor gyms for staying in shape in the hot months. Didn’t scroll all the way down - but we Americans only have to pay tax on wages over $125k/yr. Still ridiculous but not that bad. And that can be avoided by setting up a company, as you said the bar is much higher, then pay yourself a salary below $125k.

Thanks for the insights. I think Singapore is probably a better compromise for many people. It also has a growth mindset with low taxes and the possibility of a lavish lifestyle. But at the same time it’s not as strict when it comes to things like alcohol, religion and freedom of sexuality that westerners are so used to (except dont smuggle weed or they’ll literally hang you lol). It also has a stable temperature all year round, not too hot, not too cold and virtually no crime. The biggest downside lately I think is cost of living, the rental prices went thru the roof in the last few years, making it harder to start out.

Thanks for great material! Re safety. We live in Munich, Germany and only last year there were 1600 cases of sexual crime character cases at schools :( Off course we are moving to Dubai this summer.
Well explained. But people need to know that there is no health insurance and that you have to cover it by yourself and that can be expensive 400 euros per person. Also if you retire your pension will be 0 euros per month...so if people want to have pension when they retire they need to pay for that as well...and that is 400-600 euros at least per month.

My health insurance is less than 400eur per YEAR - If you can't afford that then you should not be in Dubai. And if you are not able to save enough for your retirement with 0% tax income then you should also not be in Dubai.

@@tuomaskiv For you Dubai is probably amazing(and many other people with their own businesses), cause you are a single person and you are having a business that is running well and you dont have to pay taxes for it. But for family of 4 just good health insurance is around 9000 usd per year or 750 per month. Plus there are costs of international schools(1200 euros per month per kid), plus 2000+ euros for 2 bedroom apartment. Plus you have to save some money for your retirement and also to put some money on the side for an apartment(if you want to have your own place one day). All that is almost impossible for two well educated people/engineers in Dubai especially because salaries of engineers are super low 20k Dirham at most (maybe 10% make little more than that) but probably you can expect 12k dirham salary. So 3000 euros bruto salary is nothing. As a software engineer i can make that neto salary in Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, probably even in Portugal...but there everything cost 2 times less. So yeah Dubai is absolutely great but it isn't for every educated person... it's more oriented to business people who make 8000+ euros per month(even you said that in one of your videos).

Yeah I have never recommended Dubai for software engineers, it's great for business owners (like myself), consultants, real estate agents etc

That is NOTHING. The taxes you pay to get that for "free" is far, far more. If much rather be responsible for it all myself
Have you visited US cities (NYC, Austin)? Both of these cities are very energetic city but they lack safety

They are horrible compared to Dubai. I’m American

I haven't been to Texas but I am going soon. NYC is amazing but also has many problems and not worth the prices and cost imo.

Hi can someone say can I photograph cars with a camera on public?
oh, please, the weather is nowhere near perfect, with 5 brutally hot months out of 12
It's so curious and interesting how different we people are. I'm from Salvador, Brazil, a city where is summer 365 days a year, sun all the time and hot, but less than Dubai, and I left because I just cannot deal with 365 days of sun and warm weather, you just have no peace, no cozy day ever. That's the main reason I would never live in Dubai: I've been there 4 times and I could not spend more than 15 minutes outside, away for air conditioning. This is hell for me. But it's very interesting to see almost and exact opposite point of view. Cool video 👏🏽

@@slyisdaname it's true! But Dubai is not for me also, too hot. Could not spend 10 minutes outside, only from late november 'til February.

@@slyisdaname lol yes, not common right? But I left Brazil, one of the reasons is the hot weather (yeah I know, few people believe this) 😂
i wanna but i have a problem i have 11 year old it me dream to go to dubai
That's a pretty large microphone, there, bub...
What about i have e-commerce business and live there so i get 9% corporate tax?
@tuomaskiv

9% corporate tax i your total revenue is over 3 million AED
I guess we all have different preferencies. Sun is nice but not 365 days. Summer unbearable unless in air conditioned room,car,mall. If you like it live there, enjoy .... 👍😉🙂
I have seen Dubai in 2000 and it was just starting. It was much more Arabic and conservative. Then again in 2010 which changed a lot and now in 2024 it’s not recognizable ! The city of the future . It’s crazy how it changed just in 24 years !
So what is it actually like?
How does that compare to like Austin?
