I Learned to Snowboard Without Touching Snow!

Спорт

In today's video we'll explore whether it's possible to learn to snowboard without ever touching snow. This won't involve any dryslopes and is by far the cheapest option of learning (without ever touching snow). I'll show you my top 3 tricks which I'm hoping to take from Concrete Snowboarding (Freebording) to Snowboarding, and how to do them.

Also not trolling, be careful/not over confident when you get to the hill. I can snowboard, but haven’t been in 5 years, going again in 3 weeks so thought a trip to a dry slope might help. Perhaps if I hadn’t the. Caught my heel edge & knocked myself out (was wearing a helmet). Speed control/checking on a snowboard is sort of done by what you’ve show as oversliding, traversing the slope on your uphill edge, applying pressure by shifting your centre of mass. Interested to see how you get on 👍

Great comment! I will be sending it for sure but like you say safety is still the priority. With Freebording I try and follow the famous advice of Jordi Puig (Pro Freeborder) "you make the most progress when you push your boundary by 1% each time". That is brutal that you got kocked out, Ill try my best to avoid that!

How fast do you wear out wheels on a freeboard

  • @easy_riders

It depends what you ride, I do a lot of city/urban spots so they dont wear out (>1year). If you do mountains and go very fast then probably 3 months! Basically wheels dont need replacing much!

How do you know you’ve learned to snowboard if you’ve never been snowboarding? I’m not trolling, it an honest question. How are you so sure you won’t immediately fall on your face?

Good question, I guess that's why it's a two part series! No one has recorded going from knowing how to freebord to trying snowboarding for the first time but the reason I'm confident is there are a number of stories (Quentin Streum, Dino Elliot and a friend I recently taught to Freebord) of people who know how to Freebord trying snowboarding and being able to do it. I have a video that goes over this (an interview of a Freeborder who now snowboards recounting his first time snowboarding ("Cheapest Way to Learn Snowboarding"). I hope this helps 🤙

@@easy_riders I’m not the best snowboarder but it seems to me that this is more a variation of a skateboard to something similar to a snowboard. You virtually never ride the base of a snowboard, only the edges. This is something you just can’t do on concrete

@@mikemarcus7442 The reason I recommend center wheeling is to practice riding switch, rather than to practice center wheeling. It's slightly counter intuitive but centerwheeling helps improve your balance. I understand your skepticism but you won't have to wait long to find out. I'm going next week. :-)

@@mikemarcus7442 that’s what that center wheel is there for. He says it like 3 or 4 times in the video
