I learned fluent Japanese by IGNORING the details

In this video, we will discuss why it is important, especially for beginners, to not get bogged down by details and instead focus more on getting a rough overview of the meaning of words and grammar. Once you are more advanced, you will get more value out of revisiting detailed explanations of grammar and the differences between similar grammar points and words.

Most people don't have a solid foundation in vocabulary or grammar to immerse. I think you should study till N4 and accquire a healthy vocabulary before reading, otherwise it can be just as fustrating immersing when your fundementals are weak.

ok yes, but ... that shelf is too organised to state that all this will all happen "by itself" :p

Hey guys, glad for the updates. I learned Japanese for several years with anki and the old ways and now i'm starting my Mandarin journey with you guys and your apps; really awesome work on those by the way they're so sick! Could we get Yoga in a video to speak about some Mandarin tips/features in the future? Thanks!

Great video! Learning the basics on a “shallow” level first is very practical advice. Much better than the usual “immerse, immerse, immerse” we often see on KZread :)

Very true, I do feel like going through an N2 grammar book comparing grammar points after a point (ie when already pretty comfortably reading native stuff and already having seen the grammar in some form already) was a good decision though personally, even if only to make you aware of some points which you can then start noticing more acutely during reading. Using a J-J grammar book counts as immersion anyway in my book lol so why not

Great video, always love to see you post something! This might be a bit random, but do you have any concrete plans on when to release the Italian language pack? Haven't heard of it in a while and I'm dying to get my hands on it!

The sentence 先生に聞いたらすぐ分かった。 sounds much more naturally than the equivalent with と, as the latter makes it look like a naturalness, like everytime one would ask the teacher they'll always grasp things instantly, which I don't really believe was the intended message of the sentence.
