I am 30% into the course and loving it so far! i've tried to learn Ableton through youtube over the past year and it is just so hard since there wasn't clear direction. This is amazing! Lessons are easy to follow, well produced and the curriculum just flows so well. Would recommend to anyone thinking about it! For those thinking it is too expensive, you get so much in this course that i'd honestly be happy to pay more haha. Super well done to you and RKC! Best to thing happen in 2020 haha :D

Is this a 10-minute long advertisement for Rachel's lessons?
Absolutely fantastic! You two are working together on some great content, I'm hoping it extends further than Ableton, You both are very talented!
I rarely comment on KZread! - Completed RKC's Ableton course w Mary Spender here in UK during pseudo “lockdown 2.0”. I’ve used Ableton for about 10 yrs in a home hobby context, but there were frustrating gaps in my knowledge and clunky elements to my workflow. 80% of the course I kinda knew/understood/do already etc but it was the 20% I didn't the know that was (pure gold) totally worth the time and effort. Unlike a lot of KZread music tech content that tends to be wrapped up in product pushing or self promotion, the course was pure quality education, humbly, but passionately presented by both Rachel and Mary. Big thanks for a great genuine learning experience during difficult times.
So excited for the new music!!! You've been an inspiration to me lately, Mary! I am also looking forward to learning more about ableton. It feels more user friendly than other daws I've seen.
This course is outstanding. 100% worth it Any comments saying it is too expensive are ridiculous when you examine the amount of quality and content. Clear, concise and not overwhelming. Amazing teaching. As suggested, start with , if you are just starting out.
I'm a huge fan of Mary and Rachel! I'm really excited to do this course!

I find it funny how those types of guitarists will spend hours finding the perfect amp/guitar/pedal setup for the exact tone they're looking for but guffaw at slaving over a laptop for the same thing.

@@mowkikowski I'm Guilty for saying shit like that around 13-15, but once you realize music is just an expression of one's self or culture then you realize people need to get off their gatekeeping bs. I'd like to see them do something like mixing kicks and snares in a way that swings and grooves like some Jame Brown, J dilla or a Funk feel in general. Promise you they don't got the drip until they get over ego.

Howdy y'all. Guitarist, tutor and producer hear to speak for those gatekeeper guitarists - It's the same as anything - They learn everything they know about the guitar know from 60's - 90's music. A fear of being outdated is all it is. This type of music is ever evolving, and even in this video Mary describes the frustration a "musician" feels when faced with the daily of what "producers" go through. These guitarists could learn a lot from the likes of Mary, Rachel K Collier and evn guitarists like Paul Davids. It's 2020. They just need to sort their shit out :')
Nice idea you two - I too have been teaching myself Ableton for the past 6 months - still learning
Love your videos Mary
I definitely intrigued by this course I have always wanted to learn how to produce music.
Thanks Mary, now I'm inspired. I have tried to learn it on youtube and other resources but havent been dedicated enough. Time to try again. Ableton is kind of daunting as a DAW noob lol!

@@beatsmithaudio9245 Thanks! 😊
I've been using ableton for a while, I love it because as I'm a singer songwriter I don't want to sound like everyone else. It helps me be fluid in my creativity and make sounds that I normally wouldn't on another daw. Its also easy to use for me in its design
I'm mainly an FL Studio user, but I've been messing around with Ableton Live Suite 10, and even though I don't really see myself producing full songs on it (just yet), it's nice to change it up since I've been using FL Studio since 2008. I love the warping capabilities and how easy it is to hook up external instruments. I also love the session view, it reminds me of how I use the step sequencer in FL.
Yes, Mary! This is exactly where I am. I bought a Focusrite and it had Ableton light. Perfect timing for my situation. I'll be checking out the videos. Thank you!
This is so great!
You're inspiring and lovely..peace be with you love 💘
I love this video Mary! I use Ableton too but my knowledge is extremely limited, I really want to do this course! Also can't wait to hear the new single, it sounds great!
It‘s a really great course with high quality content! And best of all, it‘s really fun! This course is not just a presentation of features. You also learn how to use these features effectively in your music production. Congrats to both of you!

Your storyrelling balancing went so so up! I’m drawned to Your film
Got the course and twice now got stuck. I’m not tech savvy and have mightily struggled. I’m the guy who actually needs Rachel on the line, not just on the recording. But here it is 1/1/24 and I am gonna try again. I have other YT support on deck and will also try to find real people in my town because I have not yet broken through. I make things with my hands, I actually make and restore instruments when not playing guitar or piano and writing… I’m also a skilled artist and painter,.. I’m not a total knucklehead ..but so far, my tech skills are too basic to learn Abelton via this course. But here we go, new year… maybe I’ll make some real progress this time🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
I absolutely love Ableton. The more I learn how to use it, the more I love it.

When I started writing/recording I started on tape. Casettes, then 1/4 inch then 2-inch, mini disc, CD, then digital. From Protools and cakewalk to Logic and now Ableton. If you are truly wanting to a pro musician, you need to be a lifelong student. There will always be more to learn. ALWAYS. I will absolutely check out the courses!

For me the first DAW to feel like a collection of instruments you can jam with, rather than the usual digital tape recorder feel other typical “left to right timeline” DAWs use. Love it, feels like all my gear from the 80/90s!
Just bought my first focusrite scarlett solo and it comes with an abelton lite version. It'd be the first daw I ever use so I think I'll give that one a try first :)
Liking the sound of the new track
I'm currently learning Bandlab. Beat maker, recording, and social media.
I love Ableton Live too. I started off with Logic Pro, but a friend of mine convinced me to try Ableton for easier collaboration with him. I dont have a Mac anymore so using Logic isnt an option anymore, which im perfectly ok with. I now use a mix of Ableton Live 10 and Studio One 5 Professional. I like using Ableton for the creative/writing process, especially when it comes to midi and automation, and then Studio One 5 for mixing. I really dont like ableton's mixer view and metering. I still have a lot to learn on both applications
Interesting! Would love to do more than basic recording in Ableton. I am seriously considering your course
Oh my goodness, we are the same! I've had the same revelation and have played for 15 years singing with an acoustic guitar. I spent 15 years writing out music and hiring other musicians to play with me, and I just downloaded cover songs royalty free midi files and dragged them into my DAW (logic pro ....gotta figure out how to get it to ableton) but 15 years worht of work, in one move! you can change the sounds and write other parts if you want to and then perform it with a push controller or in your case your novation! what! RKC is amaing and I am definitely going to take her course...just saving up money. I just spent so much building my home studio....but its worth it! Thank you for sharing all these lessons and tools for musicians!
At around 6:00 I realised that this is yet another advert from a KZreadr.
DO NOT WATCH ITS AN AD
I got hooked to ableton live recently. I used Pro Tools, mainly for mixing, but Live is a lot of fun.
Hah crazy, i bought a launchpad x in April for the very same reason, it's been a lot of fun
Cool.
I also use ableton for music production .. I am not that pro but .. now it’s been around 2 years I am in it and I really enjoy it 😃😇🥰
I also come from Pro Tools and made the switch to Ableton. I find it a lot more versatile for writing and midi (love their presets and native plugins.) I still like Pro Tools better for recording and manipulating audio and mixing. I think that there is a good balance between the two. If rewire would let us use Ableton's VST capabilities we'd have DAW bliss.
I come to youtube as you get instructional vids for free.
I am a beginner and I am recently producing on Ableton Live 10. I started producing on fl studio. Ableton is so rich DAW and the work flow is smooth. #love_ableton.
i used to use Cakewalk Sonar, had ableton on a computer for a year before i actually used it, and after mastering it, can't really use any other daw, it has the most streamlined workflow . i do lots of MIDI. however my windows computer died and i have a linux computer now, using LMMS, which is painful, but i arrange the songs in Reaper, which is great, but very different from ableton... ableton may seem daunting at first, but after you learn it , it's super easy and you can throw a song together really fast. i tried sonar again after years of ableton use, and it took me about ten times as long to do things...and, if you really wanna do what Rachel does, ableton is a must -have, especially for it's 'session mode' which correlates to the Push or launchpad style controllers you see in her setup...
You are good peuple! I like your vidéo you and Rachel!
I’m soooo glad i read the comments yall saved me some time lol
I just finished a Berklee Online class for Logic Pro. It took a heck of a lot longer than a week.
im also an acoustic instrumentalist who works in Ableton!!!! its awesome
Shes rocking the Life of black tiger shirt!!!
I'm an fl studio user but I like ableton for the live set up so I'm trying to get my head around the differences.
Rachel from the Valley!!!!!! 😍
I have the 90 day free trial of Ableton. After many hours of watching videos and reading and struggling, I've managed to create an extremely simple beat... I am a graphic designer and I lost my job during the pandemic. I decided to take some time for myself and learn some new things instead of looking for a job right away. I've played instruments on and off throughout my life but I would say my music knowledge is limited. I'm not too sure what my goals are with all this but I'm enjoying learning guitar and bass again for now!
1:42 Okay, what's it with musicians and golden pineapples?
Welcome to the Ableton fam
Wow that sounds alright and kinda ways different
Hi Mary/Rachel, I had a look through your FAQ but couldn't see anything on this, I don't have any musical education in terms of music theory which I've found an issue when trying to put something together and ensuring the notes on the right scale, is that a prerequisite for the course you're offering and if not how do you work around that on the course?
I have Abelton on my desk I’m still intimidated to use it
looooooove ableton :)
I wanna learn mostly to play LIVE (not necessarily to create a song but creating different MIDI and Audio channels and jamming with them (beats, vocal and so on plus mapping) in Session View. I could produce a song with this in the end off course but mainly I like to learn how to play live with Ableton. Do you cover that in your course? Thank you!
I want to be able to have my electric guitar processed through Ableton 11 during love performances (timing modulation FX with the clock track and maybe even volume boosts for solos, etc.). Which of your courses would work best?
It'll be difficult to put trusty old Cubase (22 years of use and counting) to one side. I'll give Ableton and this course a go, this is going to be fun!!

I use Ableton since 2010 and i would never change to any other DAW. But i didn't understand why people using it mostly for electronic music, and why they stuck with this in mind. I use Ableton mostly to do Orchestral Soundtracks or Metal. Btw: I do not use the Clip Session. For me its like a track is made of Lego Blocks and you puzzle to make it fit and sound good. In arrangement view, i can make the track have a flow and being more dynamic.
Two cassette decks allowing for overdubbing is fine for me, thanks.

just found this and am starting to learn Ableton however I make more hip hop, rap and latin music. Would this course still be ag good fit for me?
I just finished the performing with Ableton you did with Rachel - great course. I was wondering if you had actually done any performing using Live as part of your set?
I have the necessary hardware, since I've been trying out Ableton 10 Live Lite (now renamed Intro?), for some months. But the upgrade to Ableton 10 Live Suite is 423 EUR (20% offer right now), and then $149 for the course. OK, I can do the Ableton 90 days for free, but after 90 days, I need to pay anyway, and 20% more! Suddenly a lot of money at one time! I'm confused! But I have a feeling that this Ableton course is very good! 🙌😁
the course is focused on session ? or you can learn how to work in arrengment from finish to end?
It would be useful to know why you switched to Ableton (if you completely switched). What can it do that Logic can't (if anything). Are you using it for live performance or studio work as well?
