There was no way you could tell that story in two hours effectively. Glad that HBO took it on to make it longer. Thank you to NAMI and everyone involved with the series.

Thank you all for making this! My hubby has schizoaffective bipolar, he couldn’t watch past the 2nd episode because it was “too real”. God bless you all!

I felt the same way. I never expected the show go the way it went when you compare 1st and last episodes. Truly a good watch

I was thinking the same thing, that you don’t see stories that have this kind of content and feeling in movies and tv much anymore. It has a lot of heart, really beautiful. And mental health is such an important part of understanding our humanness. Stigmas just fuel the non understanding, love and compassion go a long way 💚🙏🏻🌈 Thank you for your work 🔥🔥

Each character pulled me in. I loved the Native man who actually protected and watched out for Thomas in the Institution. He had his back. He got him out of that horrible place. Sadly Thomas I believe committed suicide after his release. I cried so hard. So glad that Native man saw Dominic as family even though Dominic caused problems for his family.

I loved this mini series and now to watch this interview was wonderful and a big big thank you to everyone involved esp. Mark Ruffalo who I love. I have C PTSD AND DYSTHYMIA AND A PRETTY TOUGH PAST, A PAST which hasn't involved much support, judgement yes but support not so much so now I find myself isolated from my family. Thank God I have 2 beautiful children who have forgiven me for my mistakes and kept faith in me and my deep love for them, thanks again, Ellen x

Thank You AlL for your authenticity and sincerity and bringing the human angle to this sensitive and stigma related subject. Having lived alongside my younger sisters complex suffering schizoaffective bipolar type disorder for 4 decades this has been a hard challenging journey, so close to home, making the book totally relatable and most comforting. We’re all suffering at some level, carers and sufferers alike. A masterpiece of a written novel. ThankYou Wally Lamb for bringing this subject to light.

This story resonated with me when I read the book as a teenager. My sister has borderline personality disorder and is a narcissist. It was so so hard to deal with her and put my life aside to help her with her life and her child. I eventually had to walk away from her and my nephew to save myself. This story is so hard to watch but it's very important to see to understand how mental illness can take over familial relationships. Mark Ruffalo did an amazing job. And the producers did so well to put everything to vision exactly as I pictured it when I read it so many years ago. Amazing job, everyone.

I myself have severe anxiety disorder which my mom also has, but also is made worse by the tense situation with my sister and my father growing up. It's scary to deal with but it makes it easier when you see mental illness depicted without shame on tv and media

I read this book about 15 years ago it was one of the most beautiful books I have ever read and I just saw the preview by accident and realize it was this same book I read so many years. Beautiful book and Mark Ruffalo does a wonderful job bring it to life. Heartbreaking but just beautiful book.
