A Crazy Curt Ghibli Scorsese????? Fuck out of here....this scene would have been fast paced following Fredo's back as he was walking toward the party...then Michael would have bitched slapped him until Fredo was all bloody...meanwhile the background music would be the Ronnettes "Be My Baby" or some shit. Nah...Scorcese is fine doing his own thing...

Regardless of the timestamp, you can watch The Godfather I and II and have your eyes glued to it until the credits roll. Those two films were crafted to perfection. For me and my dad, watching it was like a pilgrimage. I would watch it once every two years and whatever timestamp my dad would catch me in, he would sit down quietly and watch it with me. I lost him to COVID a year ago. Watching TGF I & II will always remind me of him.

Imagine the range of emotions in a short amount of time. At first you'd assume Michael has special plans for you and him because he's proud of you and he wants to show his appreciation, then the kiss -- confusion -- then the line, "I knew it was you..." Now you're thinking, "How does he mean that? What does he know? Is it good? Is it bad?" Michael: "...you broke my heart..." You: "Oh, that's not good." Michael: "...you broke my heart." You: "Oh, that's definitely not good. Wait... was that the kiss of death!? Oh, he knows everything... I better get the H outta here!"

It is easy to overlook John Cazale's performance in this scene, but that's because of how natural he makes it look, which is the sign of a great actor. The mix of emotions on his face and his instinctive reaction of fear and shame all at the same time. He was a great actor who rivalled Pacino in a lot of scenes.

without Cazale there wouldn't be no Pacino, he was his mentor and introduced him to Hollywood heavy wheights, Cazale was dedicated to his craft and even worked while in the final stages of his illness.

The expressions on michaels face, the way he stutters into fredos ear, the passion of the kiss, just in the moment, his words become clearer, Excellent acting in this scene from Al pacino

This is an iconic scene, no doubt… one scene where Pacino is so subtly phenomenal, also portraying the pain of his brothers betrayal, is where Michael, Fredo, Senator Geary and their entourage are at the Cuban Night Club and Fredo is bragging about he and Johnny Orloff knowing the back alley clubs like the back of their hands…. Early in the night Fredo had behaved as of he had never known Johnny or Hyman Roth. Michael hung his head in disbelief…. He broke his heart….

the most conflicting part of me for Michael is he behaves like a sociopath but I know he's not at the same time. He's the ultimate good guy in a way. lol

Fredo was challenged from the start. When he was sick as a child, it damaged his brain. Doctors back in the day did not know as much as they do today, he was lucky to be alive. Michael was always the Dons honey favorite, and for good reason. Smart, good looking, trust worthy, acceptable. Fredo got passed over. He got screwed, even though it was not his fault. Such is life.

I'm pretty sure somewhere I think in the book it says Sonny was Vito's favorite besides his hot head. Michael he loved but he didn't want him to have this life. Fredo he loved but he wasn't made for this life either

@@Suave2459 he never mentioned about a favorite son He loved Sonny their relationship was good and alaways critized his hot heat temper the same with Fredo but he knew he hasnt the personality to serve the family With Michael was a sour relationship since he was young he knew he was the best candidate, smart, charisma and presence in one to take care of the family but Mike always hated be part of that to the point of left home to fight in WWII
