I was about to say the same thing. My aunt is a raging narcissist, and EVERY SINGLE TIME a problem is brought up at a family gathering, she always tries to start the "who's got more problems?" competition.

I have a daughter with a physical disability and it is amazing what people say.

I once said "you too" after a cashier said enjoy your meal. The amount of shame I felt in that moment was immeasurable. I threw my food in the trash and ran out crying. 😢

Just a thought... What if the pretty girl was trying to relate with her in her own way by empathizing about wanting to blend in. It may not be EXACTLY what the girl in the wheelchair experiences, but she still understands how bothersome and annoying it is when all people see is their difference. As a wheelchair user, I would have to restrain myself from rolling my eyes back so bad that I could see my brain if someone said that to me. Also I would never let anyone use me as propaganda. She's not the first one and she's not even a famous one. There's a youtuber who had major anxiety and wanted to go to a convention with her friends, not as participant, but as an invited guest but instead of wearing a mask to hide her identity, she asked everyone to censor her face whenever they took pictures with her. Her friend who's also a guest revealed her face (which is still disrespectful as its against her wishes). Majority of her fans defended her mentality, but ignore in the face of it being pointed out, that she could've easily wore a costume mask to hide her face. I stopped being a fan of her after that incident and I'm glad I did after seeing her video explaining her side of the situation where she blames the cause of her mental health issues on the actions of her family and friends just never criticising her and being good supportive people.
