"I just made the best song in chrome music labs"

Музыка

I kept noticing a pattern in different videos with pieces that they made in chrome music labs.
First off, some pieces have this same chord progression, all throughout the piece. It doesn't even change a bit! I would recommend to try thinking of different progressions that you can use throughout your piece. This can really help it have more variety.
Second, the melody isn't very well thought out. It's also quite boring once you listen to different pieces and hear the same arpeggios and scales that are supposed to sound "cool". I think that instead of just having those arpeggios and scales, you should have more lyrical and flowing melodies. Melodies that can be sung, melodies that can be understood by even the most unexperienced music lovers. However, the arpeggios and scales are really quite a handy-dandy tool for creating melodies. Just try not to overuse them, like what I did in the video.
Third, the patterns are the same all throughout the piece. Let's say that we have some sort of staccato pattern, just like what you'll hear in the piano of "All my fellas". Make sure not to be boring and daft, and use it in every part of the piece. You should try some other things, like try making it smooth, rigid, sad, happy, or you can even change the genre into classical, jazz, or even reggae!
Lastly, I want you all to expand your limits. Try out something new, not just the same ol' "boss music 8-bit sick game arpeggio song" thing. Try different genres!
I am terribly sorry if I made you think that I hate your songs. In fact, I really like them! All you need to do is to think more creatively. It's okay if you wish to keep the style that you want, but you should always go beyond your limit and try new things. (I'm just a novice in music theory as well, so we are on the same page here.)

  • @musicperson101

    @musicperson101

    13 күн бұрын

    I thank you for your comment. I agree how making new interesting music, or coming up with interesting ideas in general is quite difficult. It actually took me a long time to come up with this piece to be honest, but try experimenting with different chords, motifs, and other stuff. Maybe that spark of creativity will enter your mind and you can create something fun. But you can choose to pave your own way, keep creating the music that you think you and your audience would enjoy. The unexpectedness is the fun part too! In Haydn's 94th Symphony, specifically in the 2nd movement, there's this loud G chord played in fortissimo after a calm pianissimo lullaby theme, which is unexpected and humorous, but I also understand that this unexpectedness could also disturb the movement of the piece so maybe you could also be orderly and have a neat and tidy piece without all these unexpected stuff. However, Beethoven's 9th symphony was full of unexpected twists and turns that were not recommended at the time, and everybody loved it. So maybe some have different preferences than others. Anyway, thank you again for this comment.

    ive been getting into making chrome lab music but it tends to be a short edgy 8 bit video game tune in a minor key than this music theory nerd carnival music so im already impressed that its supposedly a common theme that people are taking it this seriously writing music with a complex chord progression, even if it doesnt change throughout the piece. like when i just wanna mess around on a website like this i just wanna make something cute and catchy like i dont feel compelled at all to use more than 2 chords

    It's really quite easy to get people to remember your melodies. Let's say you have a melody that lasts 8 bars long. You can try to repeat that melody throughout the whole piece with bits of variation, or you can take parts of that melody and use it as some sort of foundation for different melodies, so it can become much more memorable. You can also change the rhythm but keep the contour, or change the contour but keep the rhythm. You can do what ever you want as long as the melody will be memorable :)
