    Pretty sure they have real cages to live in. These spaces look like they’re just for the guests to be able to handle them easier. Japan has limited floor space so the critters are probably only out a short while until the next batch’s turn.

    As a chinchilla owner, I feel really bad for these animals. I would never feed mealworms or broccoli to a chinchilla, the wheel is also way too small and really bad for their back. If you ever get a chinchilla, please do your proper research.

    They were feeding the mealworms to the hedgehogs, not the chinchillas. Also, yeah, broccoli is a no no for chinchillas, it can become toxic to them very quickly. Oh, and also, dried mealworm can be used as a protein supplement for chinchilla dietary needs, in small amounts.

    @@FieraMystThere is a lot of misinformation out there about chinchillas, since they aren't a common pet. A chinchilla is a herbivore and should not eat animal based food, so mealworms are a no go.

    @@kitsugatari Note I said supplementary, and in small amounts, I'd not feed it to them on a regular basis, but I know for a fact it is used for certain medical cases under the advisory of a veterinarian, as was done for my cousin's chinchilla. I agree there is a lot of misinformation to be found, but I'm not posting out of ignorance here. Also to be noted, not live mealworms, only dried and prepared for their consumption under such strict and monitored circumstances.

    I don't know anything about these animals, but I'm concerned. It seems like most of the spaces are all the same, even though there are several types of animals. And how are they making sure all the animals aren't under fed or over fed? How do they make sure people don't feed them the wrong things? It just doesn't seem....safe...

    @@mangamama9881 from what i know it's just guinea pigs that need vitamin C when it comes to rodents. for Chinchillas it's important to just give them dry food otherwise they will get the runs. they originally come from a dry arid place (also why it's extremely dangerous if their fur gets wet) so feeding them a ton of food with fluids will make them ill. that's why it's best to give them only dried fruits and hay

  • @Aghul
    @Aghul Жыл бұрын

    Oof ... these animals are really cute but also chinchillas should absolutely NOT be handled - especially not by multiple people every day! At least they make the guests wear gloves, but the fact that the employees apparently touch them with their bare hands is really not good. Chinchilla fur is extremely sensitive and doesn't react well to human body oil/sweat, and they can get very very sick from being handled. The enclosures are also terrible, especially the hedgehog one. As Aki pointed out, they are nocturnal and here they are out in bright light with barely any option to hide away and only plastic/rubber to walk on. I'm actually feeling really bad for these animals, because that place is completely unsuitable for them.

  • @gehtdichnichtsan2418

    @gehtdichnichtsan2418

    Cool, didn't know so many people know exactly what an animal wants. Wild, y'all should start some show with your magic powers. Ever thought about the fact, that the animal could be quite happy having a food ressource at all times, having a warm place at all times and not having to worry about a wild animal eating you? So what if they are nocturnal? They are nocturnal because of their inherent hunting nature, so if they have no need to hunt, why would it matter if they are nocturnal? Are you still going out to hunt deer and have to worry about a bear killing you? No? I'd argue thats a pretty good life, huh?

  • @Aghul

    @Aghul

    Жыл бұрын

    @@gehtdichnichtsan2418 We know what these animals needs because people have successfully held them in captivity for AGES and learned what's healthy for them and what isn't. It's not a magic power, it's called science and research - even if that might seem very much like magic to you, as you don't seem familiar with either. The 'food resource at all times' is food that can literally kill these critters because they are feeding them stuff that is actually toxic to them (broccoli for the chinchillas is an absolute no-go). They are also not nocturnal due to their 'hunting nature' as you put it, because these animals are herbivores. Hedgehogs are omnivored but the animal-based food they are *supposed* to eat is nocturnal, so they are as well. Animals aren't nocturnal just because they can. These animals' whole bodies and immune systems are MADE for a nocturnal rhythm and bright light and a lot of noise like here can and WILL make them sick and is very cruel. Their ears are too sensitive for loud noise during the day, their eyes are too sensitive for bright light... The hamster wheels are too small which can cause spinal injury and deformation. The enclosures have holes in the floor where the animals' feet can get trapped, causing injury and deformation if not outright death from the pure stress of getting trapped. Not to mention the stress from being touched and picked up and held all day by humans. Now, what do you think would happen if we took a human like you, put you in a glass cage with holes in the floor that you'd regularly get stuck in if you didn't pay attention, did not give you any closed-off room for privacy, no bed, no toilet (because from what I can tell from the video, there was not litter for the animals in their enclosures), kept you awake every night, the entire night, with loud music and bright light, let people manhandle you whenever they wanted with no say in it on your part and feed you stuff that you're severely allergic to or that's been proven to have killed other humans (or made them very ill) before? How long do you think you'd stay healthy and sane? Personally, I'd give you about two weeks. Also - not that I personally go out to hunt deer, as I don't live in the middle ages - the fact that we don't have to worry about 'bears killing us' is something we should be damn worried about because the lack of bears and other predators (like wolves, lynxes and whatever else depending on where you live - Germany, I'd guess in your case) is a desaster to the eco system.

    @@gehtdichnichtsan2418 In the UK one of our laws stipulates that animals have a need to "exhibit normal behaviour patterns". For nocturnal animals this would mean allowing them to sleep during the day and be active during the night. Forcing nocturnal animals to be awake during the day can have negative impacts on their health and well-being. It is like if a person was forced to stay awake for the entire night, no matter how tired they get, it causes people to be extremely tired, irritable and reduces their immune system (making them more susceptible to illness). In the wild, seeing a nocturnal animal out during the day normally means it is ill or unable to find enough food and underweight.

    In response to the mention of rabies being carried by armadillos and hedgehogs, its true that rabies can be carried by armadillos, but the only instance of hedgehogs carrying the illness are those that are wild, those you can get as pets, that are bred/raised, are only as susceptible as any other domesticated pet when exposed to the disease, i.e being attacked by a rabid animal, or being exposed to wild animals that are carriers of the disease.

    @@FieraMyst well he/she just hates Rabies as a disease I guess. I personally think there is no point in Hating rabies as the number of rodents getting killed by rabies is Zero, these small animals don't ever get rabies maybe 1-2 in a year. I personally would hate the ageing among the rodents more than rabies, as they die pretty fast and these adorable fluffs don't deserve a short lifespan. This is the only reason I would never adopt one.

    I had a hedgehog but they poo a lot. I had a bucket wheel and they just poo and it flings and gets so messy xP I also had a Guinea pig, I miss him. His little squeals when ever he heard a bag crinkle that he though it was his lettuce or carrot bag in the fridge, I'd always have to get him something. I was sadly allergic to him that I would break out when holding him but I didn't care xP His name was Coalbee that he was a little lump of black with a streak of honey. Guinea pigs poo pellets so it was easier to clean up. I always wanted a chinchilla, I got to hold one in a pet store and the softness wins you over. I was just scared I wouldn't do something right with their care for some reason. But I've had 3 dwarf rabbits and they are super cute and amazing to have as well. Had a white cat and Chocolate lab in the past. Now I just currently have one cat. You should get something >^.~

    If you wrap that glove around the lower jaw of that rodent, it becomes a Chinchilla chin chiller.

    Those enclosures look really not appropriate 😅, especially in those ugly ass pink color, where are the hides, green areas There is a similar cafe in Budapest, but animals are kept in the enclosures and just brought for 5-10 min max to the table where you sit, then they are returned and left alone for some time
