I have a lot of respect towards Rivers’s aunt Cindy. While he is abusive towards his parents, he is nice to her. However, despite not having any abusive reactions with her nephew herself, she doesn’t try to cover for him and instead wants him to face his consequences.

If a kid is that dominant and wants to be alone in “their room” then turn the power off in “their room” and tell them to get a job to contribute. I can’t imagine consenting to my kid staying at home, eating, playing video games, and music all day. I would become just as brazen as they are.

Kids are required by law to be educated in a school system or homeschooled. If someone turns 18 prior to graduation, they can quit. If kids skip school, parents are in trouble.

So if I would’ve dropped out of school at 15-16 here in California my parents would be in trouble? I’m 21 right now
I understand but in the same token ain’t no way i’m sending my child somewhere where i don’t have everyday access to them. Do these ppl do background checks on all adults who will be there? Do the parents see food supply, if there’s running hot water? What goes on the daily basis? Can they video chat when they want to? You just sign custody over to new ppl and that’s it? Without all of those things on place i could never send my child anywhere.
Honestly these days schools base their rules based on political opinions. He shouldn’t treat his parents like he’s a pimp but I don’t blame him for not wanting to go to school. My school is like Eisenhower conservative to the max no hats type of school.

Yes. If you actually have a plan that is going to work, or is already working before leaving school, than by all means leave. School exists to teach kids how to be successful, and if you're already doing that, school is irrelevant. And yes it feels like school also exists to indoctrinate each generation and just spew their agenda on children.

If you read about people who dropped out of school and are famous like Pink and Eminem. They have mentioned about the struggle of not having completed school and having to figure out administrative aspect of being musician. Education is not only about academic knowledge it allows for child to mature, develop critical and analytical thinking and discover and reflect. I do feel education needs to fit the needs of a child. An maybe this kid should go to school that has a great music program. Why would you want to be mediocre musician when you can be great musician.
