I get it that you guys' comedic schtick is something like 'We're just some down working stiffs effing around after work, scratch scratch. We don't know nothing about nothing, but hell, boys, where we live and call home, we're all just funny guys with a coupla beers, some electronics and not a hell of a lot more.' And then you hit us with an observation that only a trained musician could make, which is how you lure us into your channel and get us to not only subscribe, but come back for more! The banter goes on for just the right amount of time before you go for honest observation and discussion, so you're not overplaying your comedic hand, as some might do. In short, gentelmen, you're a damn sight more sophisticated than you let on. Hey, schtick is schtick, but you get nothing but respect from this new subscriber!

“Everyone is looking at a screen”…indicative of what we all had to do to communicate with each other during the pandemic. They are showing what we all have had to do this past 18 months. Like the little boy eating breakfast and laughing with a friend over ZOOM. I love this concept.

This is not really a comment on this video so much although Pentatonix are pretty amazing, but just a general comment to say that you guys have become my favorite reactors. First of all I can definitely relate to you because you're clearly normal working-class guys. But the fact that you both have the background in music really makes your commentary interesting. I am a musician I understand some of the concepts but you guys often point out little things in the background that I missed because of your knowledge of choral music as well as instruments. So basically I'm just saying thank you for taking the time to do what you do. It is appreciated by many.

Haven’t seen a BTS for this video…but they built an indoor forest for the Prayer so maybe multiple rooms 🤣

Coffee in bed was filmed in the same room. It had actually been used in one of the superfruit videos, "Deny U". Since the pandemic was still really bad they used the same room and just changed out the decorations in the room.

Y'all have been missing out on a LOT if you haven't watched more recent PTX. The latest, The Prayer is freakin incredible. Seasons of Love to name another.

Pentatonix uses key changes as power-ups! As mentioned, Can You Feel the Love Tonight featured a number of great key changes in sequence. So does Amazing Grace. The group has great videographers, and they have all sorts of production folks in line nowadays. In this song, Kevin is part of the vocal ensemble, using his clear natural tenor as part of the harmonies.

I thought there was something interesting in the video. The guys are going through their scenes like ghosts. Kirsten gets to go into Mom Mode and possibly interact with the first kid in her first scene and does interact with the kid in her second scene. She also looked like a maternal goddess.

Great reaction and comments. I saw Stevie Wonder perform this song in concert and when I heard PTX do it for the first time I didn't think it was as good as Stevie's version. Then I watched Stevie do it in a video and I realized how much fuller and intricate the PTX version was and I appreciate it more now.

Loved your reaction - and your insight into the fact that the group were essentially narrators in each of the scenarios, not participants. The time passing - I interpreted as a double symbol - passing of time in the conversation, and also the passing of time through the year - clock reset for DSL. The message? Touching bases with others can be any time, not just celebrations - Valentines, Halloween, Christmas, time of day (relaxing, after work, during a meal) whichever. Last thing I got from this - sign of the times, we can still touch base without having to be in person.

There’s a lot of really poignant messaging in this video around the pandemic. We’re having to find so many new ways to stay connected to people we care about who maybe we can’t see in person right now, and they’re really highlighting what it means these days to “just call to say I love you.”

The use of five part homophony during the choruses really does create a great textural contrast to their usual "band-like" polyphony.

Glad at least the cool half-step note chord progressions are being rediscovered. In the early 1900's, melody lines containing half step notes in them became very popular (1940's Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B is a prime example) and remained so through the 1950's, but in the 60's that started disappearing. I guess too old fashioned for rock and pop. From the 70's until now, I thought it was all but extinct! You have made my heart happier today!

It is also is showing that even though we have been isolated due to covid we have been able to use media to stay connected to each other over the past year and a half

The only thing the producers missed is that string and cup requires the string to be fairly tight to work.

With covid, social distancing, and lockdowns, Its showing people communicating through phone/facetime/social media. Man-gf/wife (phone), businessman facetiming child, parents(2) facetiming daughter. We don't need special occasions (Christmas etc.) To phone and say I love you to the ones we love. ❤

What’s deceiving is a simple chordal structure that is rich in chordal extensions-9ths 11ths etc. but they’re doing by means moving voice lines. That melodic voice leading is what is so enriching to those harmonies!

Not to take away from PTX, whom I love, but please check out Home Frees new release "Brothers in Arms", a Dire Straits cover. If you were blown away with their harmonies with "Helplessly Hoping", this song brings it to a whole new level! The video is simple, yet haunting. I would say it's one of their masterpieces, and they have a lot of those. ;) It's also very fitting for Veterans Day. Just a thought. Love your reactions! Pentatonix have done a great job with this. But I grew up with the Stevie Wonder version and think you do it injustice it 8s a love ballad. Perhaps it was all the dance lessons that I did with his song waltzing close with a girl in my arms, or the just the understated smoothness of the truth that he called his love to say I love you not out of a hallmark obligation or duty.
