I installed this on my Civic and almost blew up my motor...Seriously

The Honda Civic build begins (and not on the best note). We continue the civic transformation to add some more tasteful mods and take care of some MESSY maintenance to keep the ball rolling.
My budget built 1999 Honda Civic Ex Coupe has gained a ton of recent attention, and I want to give the people what they want. I've cleaned up the car to a great starting point, but will continue to add mods over the upcoming months. Wheels, Suspension, and more to make it an all around clean daily driver. Many people have requested a k swap, or some Honda engine swap to really beef up the car, but with a perfectly working D16Y8, I want to take advantage of getting the looks of the car dialed in.
In this episode, I install the much desired EM1 Si Grill to add some spice to the front end of the car. In my opinion, this is a tasteful mod that really adds an aggressive look (in civic standards). But let's not overlook the fact that I almost blew up my engine to the stupidest mistake that I could have made with an oil filter. But, like any car related task, this can happen to the best of us. One step forwards and 2 steps back, right? Anyway, I do eventually change the oil on my Honda Civic.
If you're interested in the cool detailing items I used to make my car look pretty, I'll put the links down below! Thank you all for watching and subscribing!

As soon as I saw the oil pouring out that was my first thought. I bought a civic 10 years ago with a “blown engine” the owner said oil just shoots out when running. Took it home, saw the double gasket and had a perfectly running car in about 5 min.

my lexus is250 “had a blown engine” and it was literally just the alternator and battery, she said it’d stall and the engine and oil lights were on ,the lights wouldn’t turn on sometimes in the dashboard so she figured it was the engine... bought the car off my neighbor middle aged girl who got the car in 2007 as a present from her parents an was looking for a new car not to get it fixed, so i just bought it back in 2018 for 900$ it had 123k miles and back right panels got a big ol dent (as a project for me and my brother to work on) i did a little research and figured out the problem was i needed a new alternator and battery, did an oil change an me n my brother got it running perfectly in about a month, we’re broke so it’s not that easy to get parts lol at the end she was a lil upset it was only a couple hundred dollar fix but i don’t think she really cared to much she even gave me her winter tires after i had told her i got it running. things a lil beast for $1,300 still dented up tho

I remember 18 years ago when I had the 6th gen Ek coupe and was working for an oil change place. I got some synthetic oil mind you in hs I'm broke as it is. Waited till late at night to do it at my old apts and double sealed the oil filter. Go to start it and I hear gushing of fluid, look under to a huge mess. I was up till 4am cleaning!! Love your EK, keep at it!!

Not my first choice on oil brand or filter but take it from someone who works on cars for a living as well as someone who has a a civic of their own, those Fram filters are trash. They don’t filter like they’re supposed to. I’ve always used k&n or mobile1 filters in the past before I started working for Nissan. I actually use the Nissan brand long filters on my civics and they hold oil pressure perfectly and filter really good.

@@ALLDAYANTHONY btw, if you do plan to get more ponies out of the car, go single cam turbo. Yeah DOHC VTEC swap is fun and all, but I think slapping a turbo for easy daily driveable 200whp would be nice. Just my opinion though haha. I'll sub as well. Looking forward to more vids on that clean ass civic.

It’s basically an insert that you can put into the middle of the honey comb portion. The Si grill is hard to find used, but I wouldn’t say it’s rare compared to a civic type r grill. Thanks for watching!
