I'm starting to learn to sing and I'm kind of using an artificial oscillation, mainly for messing around but I wanna be sure about the healthy and right production of the vibrato to avoid developing bad habits. Vibrato requires a bit more breath than the straight notes. It's like a little switch I turn on and off. More breath, less breath, more breath 😊

Love this coach. Not only does she know what she’s talking about, she’s fun and positive and really keeps the young girl wanting to do better

I wonder how amazing it was for her parents to sit there and hear the improvements in Isabella, in just this one session. And to hear such beautiful constructive criticism from Cheryl that just built her UP. I bet this was even more amazing to hear in the same room.

What an amazing woman! I had a singing coach at that age and she told me I was tone deaf and needed to find a different interest. I was so traumatised, I couldn't sing for decades without having an anxiety attack. Now in my 40s, I sing as part of my healing work and people are always telling me I should record a medicine music album. This has inspired me to get back into singing more ❤

Right. I did not know this song was so complex. Most singers have no idea what to hear for.

I wish all teachers could see you interact with your students. You encourage and uplift them, you make them believe they can do what you’re asking…and they do. That young girl can sing, but Miss Cheryl, you have a beautiful voice too! I’d love to hear you sing more.

I can't imagine what she is going to sound like when she is in her 20's.

I can’t imagine how good she will sound in her 20’s as well. I’m sure she will make it to the top of the world with such stunning voice. Hopefully as she gets older and reaches puberty. Her young voice won’t change. But make her voice even more stunning. As a natural part of growing into an adult and puberty is voice getting deeper either it’s a female or male. My voice has definitely deepened with age and I sound different than I did at 11. I’m now 17 and just looking back makes me realize how much my voice has changed. Hopefully puberty gives her a gift and either gives her a even more stunning voice or keep the same voice. Beautiful either way!

the "Dosage" idea was really interesting... "If you get to the high note too soon, you're not going to have any notes left." Whitney was a master of this-- it was like she could dial a volume knob on any note she wanted, at any point, to create such dynamic sweeps of energy in her songs. This is why I can watch her live performances again and again, even those when her vocal chords were inflamed she had lost some power. Anyway, thanks for sharing, coach! it's my first time seeing your content. I greatly appreciate the singer and her family for letting us have this inside peek, too.

OMG, I had the same situation and still does. My parents never wanted me to sing and every time I sang, all they said was my voice is too bad even though my friends from musical families said I had a soothing voice. My self esteem became low when I sing around my parents.

I just happened on Cheryl Porter’s videos last night, and I’m already in love. What a gorgeous woman, inside and out! Those are lucky (and talented) kids to have Cheryl as a vocal coach. The kind of talent, support, confidence, and strength she inspires will carry those kids throughout their entire life, guaranteed. God Bless you, Cheryl Porter.

She is such an amazing coach!! She doesn't push them , but encourages then to be better! This young lady has so much talent - I think she is star quality and has a very bright future ahead of her!!

Isabella is so lucky to have a voice lesson with Cheryl at such a young age, she will get to learn how to sing properly early and apply techniques that every singer should know.

Instant crying.. that was so smoth for her parent

If anything, the correctional confidence given to these babies is more than enough. Life is already hard enough, but walking on that stage with confidence ensures a good performance and I’m here for it.

When Cheryl sings to show the little girl how it's sung, Cheryl reveals where everyone else goes wrong when they attempt a Whitney song. Cheryl has the ability to imitate Whitney's fautless phrasing and it's emotional to watch.

She is phenomenal! And so is her coach. Cheryl is the master of confidence building!

Good lord this woman is talented and she brings out the best in those who are already so amazing. It’s so fun to see her in action with these students. You can tell how much she loves them and also what she does - and that honest love allows the students to really trust in her. They know she’s not going to steer them wrong….and to see the teacher and student so in tuned to each other is very powerful and so inspiring.

If every teacher is like this woman right here, students will be happy to learn at every point in time

Girl is working hard and being pushed to her potential but is also smiling, happy and enjoying herself...we love to see it!
