    I think he made $150k, and doesn’t make $150k. He’d have more savings. That $19k debt is doable at $150k in 1-2 years so long as he isn’t spending every dime.

    @@Goldenchild0 I think the question was being disorganized doesn’t mean he can’t make $150K. A lot of people makes that kinda of money but yet living paycheck to paycheck, not being organized and not budgeted are the main reason he hasn’t pay and choose to ignore the $19K debt.

    Easy way to prove its not fake. Go to your local payday lender that has 30-70% interest rates and see how many people walk in and out like it’s a grocery store.

    Something doesn't add up. The next question is about purchasing a house. It really seems like there was no intention of ever repaying the loans until finding out there's no way to get a mortgage with collections hanging over your head.

    I don’t think they were able to cut through all the BS this guy was spinning. Dave would have ripped him a new one, because he would have recognized a younger version of himself. Dave would have told him all the dumb stuff he used to do, so that when he called out the caller, it would be from a place of having been there and climbed his way out. It’s a little tricky for the newer hosts to relate to the stupid stuff a lot of the callers do, because they haven’t completely failed and fought their way out. Not that we know of, anyway.

He's going to drag his feet and haggle his debt down. This is just wrong how he skipped on them. So many people would struggle and claw at their smallest bill to get it cleared.     Even medical bills: he completely ignored them. He could have gotten an itemized bill, called them to arrange a payment plan. Anything besides pretending they don't exist - they are going to start garnishing his wages by default.

    I wonder if his entire strategy was always to never pay the debt and attempt to settle the debt a few years later. This is the tactic debt settlement companies use, you stop paying your creditors and start building up a balance of about half of what is owed. Then from smallest to largest reach out to the companies and offer lump sum settlements. What doesn’t make sense is that these debts are an average of $2k each. $19k is what a car costs, I really want to know why he never paid anything on these debts

    It amazes me how people feel like paying off debt is like not even a priority. Maybe we need to bring back debtors prison or something. The massive sense of entitlement people have where they think someone else should pay all their bills is crazy.     Check statute of limitations before you start paying anything. Then call them for a settlement. Do not pause investing. He makes enough to do both.

    The statute of limitations in Georgia is between 4-6 years depending on the debt type, but that resets if you make any payments. However, that’s only the timeline for them to sue you for a settlement, so if they’ve already done that you’re stuck forever short of a direct settlement.

    Yep. When he is making that income consistently. His wage can get garnished.
