    @@IHateYourDeckit's definitely the reason why I loved the episode and will continue supporting your channel. I was worried at the beggining of the discussion as it looked like Roper was about to lose due to the take backsies but I'm glad you allowed the 3rd one without punishment, he seems to be a cool guy and definitely did not have bad intentions on that, maybe he was a little nervous while playing but that's it. Anyways, I'm glad the game wasn't a loss for Roper. 😊

    In my casual pod, takebacks are common and most of the time allowed on small stuff, we all enjoy seeing each other have good plays. That being said, when you're really putting elbow grease into your board and popping off very fast and very threateningly, you can't ask for takebacks. ESPECIALLY three times. It's just bad form really, read the room.

  • @joshuaordonez1113

    How do you run a combat centric deck like GG&S and not ask about flyers or what possible blocks? Just take your misplays and become a better player for it. You can't be lazy just because you're ahead. And also complaining about not being able to take something back or asking for a redo when you're so far ahead just feels kinda like a tantrum

It would have only been fair to hold yourself to the standards of the channel and also accept when the table clearly communicates their boundaries.

He didnt have to do the shenans moving the age counter from hall of mist on the last turn coz it was the last turn, no point wasting mana on that coz it's do or die. The extra mana would have allowed him to cast an instant/sorc then flip thing in the ice, bouncing everything. Wouldnt have won him the game but would have had it continue on. Shame, was hoping Larry would've spotted that (unless i myself am missing something)

  • @jfgcz1

    @jfgcz1

    The cumulative upkeep is what makes you pay for the age counters. On any other card the age counters are counters without a function. GG&S triggers once per player. Not once per attacking creature.

  • @therealax6

    @therealax6

    Ай бұрын

    The trigger on Goro-Goro and Satoru reads "one or more creatures [...] deal combat damage to a player", so it triggers once per player. (If it said "one or more players", it would be just once for the damage step.) As for the age counters on the Island, the counters do nothing by themselves. It's the rules text of cumulative upkeep that cares about them. But the Island doesn't have cumulative upkeep, so stacking age counters on it doesn't make a difference.

  • @atk9989

    @atk9989

    From what I can tell age counters themselves don't do anything, it's the cumulative upkeep that cares about the amount of age counters.

    1. The GG&S triggers once for each player attacked ("a player" instead of "one or more players") 2. It would, if the island also had a cumulative upkeep trigger, which it doesn't. Other cards have cum. upkeeps with pay 2 life or pay U. The counters themselves don't do anything

    A lot of people complaining about Roper's take backsies but in the end does it really matter? The dude seems to be a little bit nervous, call it his opponents, call it the camera effect, call it his persona, whatever, he just seems to be nervous and hence, the misplays declaring attackers. It's a casual game between friends, not a tournament, and the "Gathering" should be more important than winning or losing a game. Focusing too much on this rules/consequences game can definitely kill the mood of the table. Finally, Roper was already ahead and about to win and they all knew that, I bet that is the reason why Lynch allowed the 3rd take backsies without punishment. Does it really make you people feel good if the "about to win" player is taken out by some loophole in the house rules? At least for me, I would rather allow the take backsies than have a win I didn't deserve. In the end, it's just a game with friends, and it should remain like that. 😊
