At 56:51 I think that's a mistake: the intervening "if" ability checks once to see if it should trigger at all, and then again before resolution. He had cards in his hand, so it shouldn't have triggered at all. From the Gatherer for the Orrery: "No player may take actions in a turn before Ghirapur Orrery's second ability checks to see if it should trigger. If the player whose turn it is has any cards in hand, it won't trigger."

Yerp Also Ayli dying on her upkeep of her turn, the table still goes through her turns steps and phases as normal(rule 800.4something). its just that she isn't in the game at that point. So he could have discarded the cards on her end step anyways.

Not every rule, when a player dies in a multiplayer game, if it is their turn they still finish their turn going through all the states, however, they can not do anything as there is not active player for that turn. Also, if a player dies while having priority then priority would be passed to the next player. So at this point they made a mistake kzread.info/dash/bejne/iomd1NmOmZm3aaw.htmlsi=8ARVo0UBYBt1Uz3E&t=3246

42:12 is a big brain misplay on lynchyboi! So I'm very familiar with cabal coffers, specifically with the fact its USELESS on its own (most of the time). Because Lynch spite bounced urborg to his hand to screw up ayli, he actually can't tap coffers in response to bounce it back to his hand because it does not produce any mana BY ITSELF. If he were to save his coffers, he'd have to bounce two swamps to pay for coffers and then tap it.

Minor rules error, but around the 54:00 mark, it's mentioned that with her dying it instantly becomes his turn, not quite. The rest of the turn does continue through all the rest of the Steps and Phases but does so without an Active Player. So he would be given priority during those changes.

If a player dies you still pass through their phases and may take actions as phases end. There just is no active player and the next player in priority automatically receives it. It's like 800.4j or something as a rules reference. Ghirapur Orrery checks at the beginning of upkeep before someone could have taken an action on their turn so there is getting empty handed before it. The 2 mistakes in this case cancelled out though

um 53:05 800.4a When a player leaves the game, all objects (see rule 109) owned by that player leave the game and any effects which give that player control of any objects or players end. Then, if that player controlled any objects on the stack not represented by cards, those objects cease to exist. Then, if there are any objects still controlled by that player, those objects are exiled. This is not a state-based action. It happens as soon as the player leaves the game. If the player who left the game had priority at the time they left, priority passes to the next player in turn order who’s still in the game.

In response to Volcanic Offering Lynch tapped Cabal Coffers (42:15) for a black mana to bounce it back to his hand thanks to the Storm Cauldron effect but this he cannot do because Urborg Tomb of Yawgmoth was not on the board, it was in his hand. He had just put it there at the end of the previous turn. If he wished to save Coffers in response to Volcanic Offering he would have had to tap two additional lands to pay the Coffers activation cost, thus bouncing all three lands back to his hand.

Quick rules thing. When Ayli dies, Larry does have a chance to cast spells and activate abilities before his turn. When a player dies during their turn, you still go through steps and phases. Before the next turn begins. If ghirapur's condition is not met, the trigger will not go on the stack, so Larry can't respond to it. Basically, we ended in the right spot with the game, but the rules explanation was incorrect. Larry should have discarded at the end of ayli's turn to meet ghirapurs draw condition

Ghirapur Orrery doesnt trigger because IF [condition] must be met before it decides if it triggers or not (also checks again on resolution) Also i wasnt sure about tempt card but gatherer says: "After each opponent has decided, the effect happens simultaneously for each one who accepted the offer. Then, the effect happens again for you a number of times equal to the number of opponents who accepted." Which i would say it means that all casters lands ETB one after another, and all tempted players ETB at the same time. Or did i misunderstood that sentence? It also says "for each opponent search" not "search for as many lands as oppponents who searched" o i would say that im correct ... but who knows-> im not a judge :)

When someone dies the game still progress through its steps and phases. Upkeep she died, Larry can still cast spells and use abilities in the draw step, main phase, and everything else before it becomes his turn

But larry is taking the action after Ghirapur Orrey ability check to see if it should trigger, not before. The triggered ability goes on the stack, larry discards all the lands following the priority rules on the stack, than Ghirapur Orrey resolves, with no cards in hand for Larry. I think Ayli interpreted the rule this way

Lynch with the cabal misplay during volcanic offering, can’t tap it for a black and bounce it to hand cause you were speedy and tapped urborg during your turn instead of waiting for the end step before her turn

35:50 Larry's Valakut land was triggering several times facepalm Also at 41:35 How did Lynch tap Cabal coffers for mana? Urborg wasn't out, it couldn't just straight up tap for black, he would also have to bounce two other lands to his hand to activate coffers...

At 41:25 or so Volcanic Offering was played. Couldn't Larry have tapped his Mountain, return it to his hand, discard it to deal to damage to his own zombie token thereby removing one of Volcanic Offering's targets and causing it to fizzle out?? Maybe he knew this was the case, but thought that it wasn't worth it save his Field of the Dead since it would mean saving Sheoldred... Thoughts??

Mike taps his cabal coffers to bounce it using storm cauldron, despite it being unable to tap for black mana since there wasn't an urborg.
