I love seeing games with Ayli and Skylar, they are both so cool and have great personalities and their differing power levels are always fun to watch

Seeing high power control is so crazy to watch. 4 people all countering and instanting. So funky.

This game was an absolute war of interaction, awesome game!

My favorite part of Riku is the weird math you have to do with it. “Is it worth it to play riku and copy a spell?” Ayli had spent 19 for the x of her Experiment. She could have spent 7 of that to play and activate Riku. Then she would have had 2 experiments with x=12.

Oh don’t get me wrong. I’m 1000% monday morning quarterbacking here. I would also worry about time if I played on camera. I worry about wasting time whenever I play at an lgs and I think about better plays on the car ride after as it is.

I really appreciate the introduction of your decks (commanders) and strategies at the beginning. Very cool and gives me some kind of a different feeling, when the matchup starts. Sometimes I play the same commander, but with a different strategy, so you gave me to another viewpoint, on what I can change in my deck.

I just built a mono blue deck called "Mills, Thrills, and Planeswalkers. It's several Jace's and 26 counters. It was built to just piss people off and make them upset. I'm only about a year back into playing MTG, definitely gonna hop in that Patreon and Discord!

Great to see the positivity building man! Everyone seems to be hitting high notes these days. To Ayli remember, turnabout is artifacts too!! It was worth the chance going big there.

Always really fun to watch a game from this channel. I honestly don't even know how I'd gauge my decks' power levels if I ever played with IHYD. My friends and I have never really had that kind of discussion or anything, we just kinda played and upgraded to match if we weren't up to snuff. XD I miss when I could do that.

@@IHateYourDeck Rapid Hybridization was also played after priority passed @ 25:25. He did not respond to anticipation, the spell failed to yield results and then he decided to play the Rapid Hybridization. You won :)

@@IHateYourDeck no because Lynch still had priority on the cast and after Lynch passed priority that is when Steven chose to counter. doesn't matter if someone says pass if they don't even have the priority anyway.

I would love to see a curse deck with Lynde as commander. Nice round again !

I wanna start calling Bird tokens Joshes specifically if Talrand is on the field or is the commander.

So this is basically a pod directly out of my tool box. Neheb was my very first deck that I built, and Riku was the first deck I built. Awesome. It is hard to root for any one particular, such good decks.

I agree. She probably could have gotten away with leaving some mana open for potential interaction. Even if she didn't have any, she could at least threated it.

It was a huge miss play. If you can see blue mana up, and you commit to something that strongly, do yourself a favor and back it up with your own interaction. No one in their right mind would’ve let that resolve if they could stop it

To be fair. Sometimes it's hard to play against blue if you don't have your protections up. You're stuck between not playing at all or try and taking out their counter spells

Check out Abjure for the Talrand deck. It's a great counter spell in that deck.

I am currently reconstructing my Talrand, and I hadn't tried running Archmage Emeritus in that deck. Seems solid! I have been running a Polymorph combo version (Lab Man/Enter the Inf) of Talrand, but I am considering dropping that aspect and going pure drakes. It was good to see your take while I reconsider my strategy.

Hey! Sorry for such a long wait, hope you see this. I have a polymorph package in mine too just in case the drakes can’t cut it. That way it’s not only just playing spells. I also have a few big beaters in there. Not running labman in mine though. Got stuff like the new Jin-gitaxias, hull breaker horror.. stuff like that. Thanks for watching!

i have a budget talrand commander deck thats basically all counters and spells and no one likes when i play it but i find it alot of fun

My fav deck is Riku (colors) Insanity, the point of the deck is to put everything on everyone's hand on the board, and everyone gets a copy of everything. Let the chaos ensue 😈

I am going to die on this hill but Talrand is so underestimated as a commander option! The deck can be built fairly cheap and it builds itself. Cantrips, redirect spells, counterspells, copy spells and mana rocks and boom, you're golden. Create some Drakes early in the game and then build up for late game when everybodys life is lower. I've gotten 23 Drakes on the field once which is lethal (unless your opponent is playing lifegain 🙄)

According to EDHrec, Talrand is the third most played mono-U commander after Orvar and Urza, that's definitely not what I'd call underestimated ...

Is it bad that I want to play my Phelddagrif "Wholesome Acceleration" deck in a pod of 3 "oops, all interaction!" decks?

With epic Experiment x=19 she had 21 mana, couldnt she just cast her commander cast epic Experiment for 12 and copy ist with riku? Would resolve in 2 copys of epic for x=12 right?

I would have cast reku then copied the epic experiment for two of 11 for a total of 22 cards instead of 19 still works cause even omniscience is just 9 mana

There are many fun Preconstructed Decks that I would recommend. Like Lathril then just buy some new upgrades like Cratorhoof. It’s a fun deck easy to slowly upgrade and still have fun.

I just learned that you can actually take back mana abilities because it doesn’t use the stack

You can't, but most players will let you because, as you said, there's no opportunity for interaction anyway, so it's not like you gain any information by doing that. And everyone mistaps sometimes.

This game was really enjoyable for me but it's probably because I'm a filthy Izzet mage

He passes priority on aggravated assault, but after the anticipate spell resolve he have to do it again and in that moment he can cast the removal
