@@SkyChaserCom gonna say this,I fly Alaska and once I got there 20 minutes late they were still willing to let me on the flight and take off like nothing at all had happened,I gladly accepted and I normally go to SLC National Airport cause it’s the closest,only a 3 hour drive with my annoying siblings and Everytime I’m late (mostly cause of security or traffic) they still let me on.

@@-bagelplaysthings-408 as long as you don’t have anything to check in, you can be close to late as you like as long as the doors don’t close. Every airline I know has a time limit for checking in luggage and that is usually 45 minutes.

No hate peric but you always blame the airlines when you are late and say their service sucks. So just don't be late next time and none of this will happen

Forcemaster Naik Exactly. He forfeited his seat by arriving late, and that seat is going to be a loss to American Airlines because they cannot sell a new ticket 40 minutes before departing, yet they offered to rebook him on a later flight for free. So he buys one (probably super cheap ticket) and gets two seats, but he claims AA did nothing to help. If they had cowed to his demands and delayed the flight just for him, the airport would fine AA thousands of dollars. There are cut-off times for a reason. Those are the bare minimum times required for an on-time departure. Being 5 (or 10?) minutes late for the bare minimum cutoff is not something an exception can be made for. It means he was really a lot more late than he thinks, considering the recommendations for arriving at the airport early.

The reason they can't let you check your bag after the cutoff is because it takes time to go through the screening process and the automatic sorting system. If they take a late bag, then the airline is responsible to wait for it to get on the flight which could lead to a costly delay.

The airline makes itself liable the moment it accepts your bag at the ticket counter meaning if your bag does not arrives to your final destination they are responsible to pay you back for every day the bag is delayed I’m pretty sure they gave the option of going on the flight without a bag. But of course it’s easier to blame the airline because it’s easier.

While employees shouldn't have been rude, I'd imagine the reason they were short with you is because you were late and acted like it was their fault for then being unable to check in your bags. All airlines have cutoff times. The 45 minute prior checkin rule is posted online. It's so your bags can have time to go through security and get put on your plane so that way you're not angry at the bag claim as well. Secondly, you wound up getting your tickets reissued with American later anyway, which is something you could have done at the original counter before you walked off to try the other airlines. Earlier this month I was stuck on standby in DFW myself from 10am until 6pm. It was upsetting but I wasn't rude to employees who had nothing to do with it and just asked to be rolled over until I got on a flight that went. DFW is a huge airport to explore with lots of good bars and restaurants to vlog about. You missed an opportunity.

Connor Allan Where is the evidence he was mistreated? The video is full of things he did wrong, not the airline. By rights, if you show up late, you’ve no-showed and lost your ticket, yet he says they offered to change him to a later flight (presumably for free).

you've clearly never flown before if you thought even for a second that united is the best airline lmao

The trick is to be at the airport at least two hours before your flight. That gives you adequate time to make sure you're checked in, have your bags checked, and to go through security. After that, you don't have to worry too much, just relax and get some food or something instead of rushing to get to your plane. It works out nicely if you're there early.

Ok, if you (incorrectly) assume that the only “helping him” would be delaying the flight, taking a multi-thousand dollar fine from the airport for delaying departure, just so one person who has no regard for other people’s schedules, and thinks he can arrive at the last minute can get on the plane... but I disagree. When you arrive late, you’ve forfeited your ticket, unless the airline puts you on a later flight (which he says they offered to do). So even despite his negligence, the airline offered to absorb the cost of that seat probably going out empty, while letting him fly later in the day, getting two seats for the price of one. Yet he posts this video to try to make the airline look bad?

A few years ago, my sons and I were flying back from Orlando. One leg was MCO to DFW on American. The plane was so old that it had ashtrays on the arm rests. That seafood looked amazing. But calling Teriyaki as Teriyaki food, is like calling hamburger "hamburger food". It's either Japanese food or just Teriyaki. I say you did a great job keeping your cool at the airport, I'd be yelling at people. You're awesome.

TGOutdoors So maybe dress accordingly? Besides, arriving 2 hours prior to departure does not mean sitting doing nothing for 2 hours. There may be a line at the ticket counter, an even longer line at the (government-run) TSA security check point, a long walk to the gate sometimes, not to mention other unexpected delays in traffic on the roads etc. Far too many entitled people make no effort to be early - or even on time - because the world revolves around them. Hopefully this young man will realize sooner than later that it does not. We are all of equal importance, and no one person’s schedule is more important than anyone else’s.

I recently traveled to Merida Mexico via Cancun, my trip on AA2473 to DFW was excellent and the continuing leg AA1343 to Cancun was everything I expected from a world class airline. My concern was the return trip on AA1343 to DFW and the continuing flight on AA2009. I understand that Mexican buses operate on Mexican time schedules causing me to arrive at the Cancun airport 1.5 hours before my flight. I spent approximately 13 minutes attempting to check -in at the automatic kiosk and an additional 17 minutes waiting to speak to an American Airlines agent. The agent Geraldine informed me that the flight has been closed and I would need to take another flight on to my destination. I spoke to several other agents and one supervisor about this problem and was forced to pay an additional $223 usd to board a flight that already been paid for. My father was a loyal mechanic for your company and often praised American for their extreme diligence to detail. He also told me to never realy on the customer service of the agents and TOLD me never to fly AA. This trip proved to me just why he felt this way. If this is the ongoing policy to charge someone extra while a plane is still on the tarmac then I will not be flying with AA. I will be mentioning this to EVERYONE I know just what kind of service is available thru this airline.

I love seattle! I happen to live there. This might sound weird but we get all the prime benefits and new cool amazon stuff because they’re literally based in downtown.

iTz_xLavaMob 19 the doctor rented the seat, I've flown United tons of times and have had amazing experiences. The doctor was required to leave his seat and they wouldve compensated him

First they tried to bribed the customers to leave the airplane by offering a free hotel night but after no one volunteered they randomly picked a person. Also the doctor had a appointment tomorrow soo yeah... also u can’t rent a airplane seat on United. United just overbooks

It's not AA's job to make sure that traffic between his place and the airport is smooth. If they hold the airplane for this spoiled brat, the next flight that this aircraft was supposed to serve out of Seatle will be delayed as well. And the angry passengers will blame AA, not this kid, for that. The world doesn't revolve around him.

Now, he never did explain how the conversation went down, but (giving him the benefit of the doubt; again, we don’t know what happened) they could’ve at least been a bit more polite.

Airlines charge a ton of money to fly you. If they can't put your bag in the plane 10 minutes before leaving the gate, they don't deserve business and won't get my business.
