2:29 the thing is, at least since 2nd gen of kpop YG have been releasing incredible groups, so it is not hard to believe that they will be able to succeed with BM as well. For example, before BP they debuted 2NE1 who was one of the biggest girl groups at the time. Then BP, who are also the biggest gg of their time. Obviously it helps that kpop as a whole grew bigger on the BP era (i dont say this to downgrade BP because they are part of the reason for that growth in kpop). So im not comparing 2NE1 and BP or excusing one vs the other, my point is that on different eras YG managed to debut different groups that were huge successes. So the expectations around Baemon comes from that. Looking into YG's history, their last 2 girl groups (2NE1 and BP) are among the biggest groups in kpop history. For example, at least since 2NE1 (debuted in 2009) all YG groups have received at least a few awards of "best new artist" and/or title of "Rookie of the year". Because of all that, the expectations for Baemon are high. Then you had BP in particular in the mix and those expectations get even higher. Also, the producer CHOICE37 is from LA. In YG they have at least 4 producers that come from the US. One of them i dont remember the name. Then there is Choice (this one), they have BIGTONE, which is the rap trainer you see in the introduution videos, I believe he is from NY and also Teddy Park, who was a rapper from 1TYM (another YG group from early 2000's), CEO of The Blacklabel (a YG associate label) and main producer for 2NE1 and Blackpink. Teddy spent part of his youth in NY and part in California and it is possible to see him speak in english with BP a lot of times.
