Leave the brand loyalty behind Rick. You dont need the clout of the big names. You just something that works. You struck these irons better than anything you have tried. No errant shots, just good performance.

  • @FlyRiverFly

TaylorMade filed a lawsuit against Kirkland for patent infringement alleging Kirklands irons were based on proprietary technology. The reality is the golf industry is rife with clones and knockoffs and there are no lawsuits against the myriad of golf clubs built in Asia. A lot of reviews have said the Kirkland irons perform as well as the TaylorMade irons while TaylorMade has said that the Kirkland irons are not as good as TaylorMade irons. There is a lot of speculation that TaylorMade is suing Kirkland because the Kirkland irons are half the price with comparable performance which calls into question why Kirkland vs all the knockoffs and clones on the market. Their biggest fear is a large company like CostCo/Kirkland has deep pockets and is putting out an affordable product which calls into question why are TaylorMade irons so expensive.

@@FlyRiverFly Taylormade irons are so expensive because they need to pay huge endorsements! Paying Tiger is Millions in cost. Then you have to consider Rory, Dustin, Jason, Sergio, etc. This is why Nike pulled out of golf club manufacturing. After paying endorsements, they weren't making anything. No point in running a business if you aren't making any cheddar!

  • @FlyRiverFly

@@PRYVTgomerPYLE I agree but they are paying millionaires, millions of dollars so they can sell over priced items to everyone else. CostCo/Kirkland is charging people a fair price for a quality product. I dont blame TaylorMade or Ping or Mizuno et al for charging those prices because they do have a lot of overhead in their business which is tied to golf. But I do have a problem with them going after companies because they are offering a product with an affordable quality product.

I saw a Bettinardi BB 51 a few years ago and had to buy one,ma great looking putter from the guy who invented making great putters without having mass production. At the same time I purchased a set of Muira CB 501 irons. Yes expensive but fantastic looking irons and still gaming them. I sold the Bettinardi putter last year for more than I paid for it. I think if you buy something that’s top quality and great looking you might not ever change so a great investment. One thing that annoys me with today’s mass produced top brand clubs is the way they con the buyer. My 7 iron is the normal Muira loft of 34 degrees whereas some brands use 27 degree, 28, 29 etc and say they go further. That’s a lie as you have been sold a 5 iron or 6 iron not a 7 iron. Great show 👏🏻

The first time I saw a new set of irons with an 1800 dollar price tag was around 2009, maybe '10,, the sweet looking Callaway Prototype tour authentic blades, a first for Callaway. I figured they were exclusive limited edition tour specials or something. Back then that was off the charts. I say play these, Rick,, out on the course with real turf interaction, wind, weird lies. If they perform better those Wilson cb's then you've found your new set. Good review.

Nice vid, wish I could try these! Brand familiarity may be a "big problem" for Bettinardi's sales outlook, but I don't think it should be called out so prominently in a review, because you should be reviewing the clubs from the POV of the golfer who might be considering giving them a try, not the corporate sales outlook. From the golfers' standpoint, price certainly matters, so that's definitely important. But in your final wrap-up, "these are incredible irons" shouldn't sound so much like an afterthought after hammering on Bettinardi's lack of market saturation. It's an undeserved disservice to the manufacturer.

Genuinely everything Bettinardi touches is top notch in quality, and I don't think anyone familiar with the brand and men behind the brand would be the the least bit surprised these irons are fantastic. I am quite confident that the quality of these irons is up there with Ping, Titleist, Callaway, TM, and Mizuno, and would be shocked if they don't perform on their level as well. I switched over from one of their putters to a ping one just because of the shape, but absolutely loved and can remember distinctly the feel of the old one and do miss it. I agree on the pricing though. If I had the budget to add in a new set of irons, I'd absolutely give these a go. But spending $1800 on a set of irons with a newborn when I could get a high quality used set for $500 or so just can't be justified. And that makes me very sad. They're gorgeous clubs and clearly perform as well as they look.

Loved this Rick! But not sure you are correct about the job that Bettinardi have, establishing themself as an Iron manufacturer. Remember, they are already seen as pretty high-end/high-quality within putters. Think it is easier for then then say wilson, takomo etc. Still, can´t see them competing sale-wise to Taylormade, Titleist and Callaway, but maybe challenge the Mizuno, Srixon etc. Great review anyways. Would like yo see you stick them in the bag! ;)

Takomo had the best strategy. Come in at a price that is impossible to ignore. Get some traction in the market and build your reputation up. There just won’t be enough people willing to spend nearly 2k on a set of irons that will be difficult to even test

The price may be high but then their putters are pricy too. They are a premium brand and clearly want to be seen that way. If Scotty made irons they'd be expensive too. Hopefully what you get at this price point is exclusivity and very high quality craftsmanship. People, who can afford it, will pay extra for that. That's always been the way in all things.

Bettinardi is a popular brand in America, they make amazing putters like their Queen Bee series. I’m going to buy a set of these irons just to have I might not even play them I just like the look of them they remind me of the Miura 201s

Lazy review so this should help those that are interested.... TRI-MATERIAL CONSTRUCTION The integration of high-density Tungsten and Military- Grade CMC (Ceramic Matrix Composite) within the forged Carbon Steel body produces weight profiles that maximize forgiveness while maintaining balance and consistency from one iron to the next.

I'll be honest, I know Bettinardi for their putters which we've seen Rick test. If the price point was $400 cheaper, sales would be expedentially better. That said Rick is correct about them not be as popular coupled with the fact they don't have players signed. Rick should test them against an alternate brand as well as put them in the bag. If for nothing else, to field test on-course.

Still 200 quid cheaper than the Ping putter fitting 😂 Ping needs to take a look in the mirror for charging people that much for a fitting and a single club. Maybe if they fit Scheffler and Korda they could try and steal money from people 😂 Another great video Rick!

I see vice came out with clubs now, those should be next on your radar! Also, there's a way to fix the brand issue. More influencers like yourself can get out there and highly recommend the brand, regardless of their popularity. I for one dont care about brands, as long as they perform. We need more people talking about these other brands that dont get that much attention due to sponsorship deals. Because thats all it really is, sponsorships of pros. Help those brands out!
