Also pro tip: because of the way NS garbage works, people have such a hard time throwing anything other than the weekly garbage out so there are a lot of places with barns FULL of old antiques and furniture they couldn't throw out, if you are looking for other very specific old things, ask around, you just gotta make the right friends/find the right people lol We ended up finding a lot of cool items from some random persons grandma XD

My family just bought a 100+ year old house and I totally understand the joy of finding exactly the piece that will fit in your house. I drove by a thrift shop a few weeks ago and saw a gorgeous hutch (maybe about twice as big as yours) in the front window and the price tag said $100. I was like, there's no way that price is right, I must have missed a zero, but no! $100! I don't know who in their right mind would ever sell and antique hutch like that for a price that low, but I certainly took advantage of it!

As work starts tomorrow on removing bees from our chimney, I definitely feel this - 'but the money could go on something I really want to do!' This is home-ownership: paying an extraordinary amount of money for something you can't see or touch, but if you don't spend it, you lose everything!

Yeah, keep in touch with that plumber. They clearly did good work, kept you involved and welcome, and gave you a good price on the work. That they put in that access port to let you easily snake the line out means they're taking good care of you as a client. They might have cut you a break on the scrap value of the line they pulled out of the dirt; it was probably cast iron. Plus lucky horseshoe! If they do this kind of work, consider having them back out to help with the standing water you have in your backyard.

Last year my neighbors left this old steamer trunk out of the garbage so I took it and cleaned it and applied three coats of varnish to the entire thing... Then I found these small coffee table legs at home depot and stained them with ebony stain and anchored them to the trunk with 2x4's on the inside and it's truly the most beautiful thing I've ever made. I spent maybe $30 in materials and have this amazing hand made antique coffee table now

First of all, I think it is important that home owners understand their homes. this can keep them from being scammed as well as simply increasing their knowledge of the world. and second, whatever repair I am doing, I have done hundreds of times and it can get boring... having a homeowner there to explain things to, helps me realize the importance of that individual job and thereby helps to remove that boredom. Hi ariel!! That horseshoe really did bring you luck!! I'm trying to figure out some planning for redesigning my room and it has a tiny closet, and the way you redid your closet in the previous video is actually giving me some great ideas!

I got all of my furniture on a second hand store like Facebook marketplace. It took me all over Norway, and I got the perfect chair and book shelves. And most of it I had to fix up - wood and leather work! But it really makes my flat a lovely place to be! ❤ I hope to renovate a house one day too for more space. I love following your projects!
