Pro Tip for the ticks (I ride in heavily tick-infested Northeast USA): • 32oz spray bottle • 1/3 pure tea tree oil (12-16oz) • 1 oz peppermint oil • Fill rest with water ..... I spray before every ride, and if I have that on, NO TICKS, 100% success rate. Safe and healthy, no deet needed. 👍

The steeps in the video do ok, but since all these trails are illegal, there isn't as much armoring on sections that do turn into bogs in the rain. Very healthy amount of rain this season - at least it lessens the chance of everything completely burning down in late summer/fall.

@ShapeThings the soil in that area does look really loose & I can imagine when it gets saturated from extra amounts of rain, it'll get really boggy. Plus, I didn't want to ride them trails blind & in very wet conditions. No telling where them snipper roots can be hiding. I could come around a blind corner or off a drop & then the next thing POW! I'm taking a dirt nap. I'm very comfortable riding the trails around here in the wet because I know where the snipers are hiding. These trails are off the map so by respect for the local builders I do not mention where it is even though it's known world wide.

Because the trail keepers are garbage. Great builders, garbage people. “We don’t want outsiders on our trails” - fuck inspiring future generations and allowing people to enjoy the mountains. Maybe the builders own the mountain and planted all the trees.

I’m sure it was explained to you that these trials are not legally opened or sanctioned. Maybe you can help create some interest in making them so ? The reason these trails are hard to work on is because they are illegal and very few people are able to maintain them legally. You as an advocate of the mountain bike community have an obligation to so no when it comes to riding them despite the thousands of people that came before you. I don’t think the trails are going away anytime soon, but you never know.🤷🏼‍♂️ Great shredding as always usual.

I agree with you. At the same time the demo forrest is closed to E Bike. There was not much left to ride around that is sanctioned. Perhaps that's a wake up call for California to make more legal trails. I received nothing but positive feedback from people down there. I'm hoping these trails will be grandfathered soon.

@@remymetailler it’s going to be a long road for those trails, I think the land is owned by the University and there is no way they want the liability associated with them.

They'll never be legal, because it's state park property and almost all of the trails dump out onto a highway. We're lucky that the state park tolerates it. They hand out tickets a few times a year, but that's it for enforcement.

UC will never be legal. The geography of the zone makes it too difficult to get emergency vehicles out there, and it does not pass a load of other requirements for legal trails :(
