I had to call the police on myself
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
[animal resources, products I use and more: goherping.com] - I accidentally broke into a rental truck pickup location, set off the alarms and had to call and wait 20 minutes for cops to come and question why I was standing outside with an alarm blaring and then figure out what to do afterwards. I probably could've left but didn't wanna accidentally become a burglary suspect or something idk. The reason I had to get a U-Haul was to pickup a used trailer, which I refurbish in this video! More to come in the upcoming vlogs.

Hey Alex, please consider the strength of that plywood going forward. The pine boards were providing rigidity as the cargo was moving. As it is, anything heavy that comes unsecured could just punch a hole right through the plywood. Especially for the bottom, you're going to need to use either more solid boards or a metal sheet + more strut system. Source: Hull Tech for 4 years. Hope you have more time to plan in the future! For future reference, those places always have the security company listed on the building. Usually there's a sticker on the door or window. You can just call them up and their dispatcher will send security officers to turn off the alarm and notify the owner/manager. My ex-husband was a security dispatcher for Per Mar.
I'm so emberassed to say it, but when I was younger, I was in a Walmart with my mom and sister and I pulled the fire alarm. Everyone left the building, thinking there was a fire, but my mom just kept shopping because every time I tried to lie to her I ended up crying, so I just told her the truth of what happened and she wanted to finish getting her groceries. So she was just...shopping and I was walking beside her...sobbing. So, yeah.

Random but quick thing on them sending 2 cops, it’s standard for cops to be in pairs after dark, just cuz it’s safer to have two peeps to watch each other’s backs in lower visibility essentially, it’s quite common, even just for a traffic stop :)

Hey, I work for an alarm monitoring company so I can provide some insight. Most cameras are for post hoc investigation, though some are live, or semi-live. Unless someone approved the police to be dispatched by Uhaul, it wouldn't have dispatched, so calling the police yourself was the best option, since you couldn't reach Uhaul itself.
@GoHerping
3 жыл бұрын
good to know! when they went off I assumed it's be like a house alarm where no disarm results in auto dispatch
You were so conscientious to call it in and wait. Probably a forgetful employee, but I instantly start thinking of crazy scenarios where a employee was trying to activate the panic button and armed the alarm instead. I always worry about the safety of solo workers.
That reminded me of Johnny Bravo calling the police on himself after looking at the mirror because "there is a handsome man in my house."
You know you could've just called the non emergency line for that
@ChimkinMcCluckie

@ChimkinMcCluckie

@@TeenDream888 Sounds like it's all dependant on where the caller lives. My city doesn't have its own police dept. any more. It's all governed by the big city's municipality that's almost 20 miles away so even emergencies take a while to be dealt with unless the cops are already in the area for another call.
@George-lt6jy

that is not what the non-emergency line is for. he set an alarm off, he wants dispatch if the employees are not showing up. who knows what could be happening.
I came for the reptiles, I stayed for the quality content.
That is hilarious! 😄😄 I don't think you could have handled it any better though! I probably would have just gotten so freaked out and run away, LOL!
I’m glad the employee wasn’t like injured or unconscious of something and that’s why you didn’t see anyone.
Just incase anyone doesn’t know police have a non emergency number that’s super helpful for situations like this so you don’t take time from an emergency . Each one is different so you search your city and the non emergency number.
your parents must be so freaking proud of you. You just are unafraid to figure things out and try things. Way to go young man!

I don’t know if this has been said before, but there is something so oddly calming and comforting about your videos. Your calm demeanor, calm way of speaking, and you just going about living your life doing what you do and documenting it is very comforting. I always enjoy watching your videos because I feel like it’s time to just be in a zen state lol.
You can just do a quick google of the local police dept and call their non-emergency line so it doesn't tie up the 911 dispatchers. Had to do it several times when I lived in bad area and had to report crap stolen, and for fender benders.
@George-lt6jy
3 жыл бұрын
nah this was emergency enough imo. there is an alarm blaring, someone could perceive the situation incorrectly, he did the right thing. In my area both of your situations would immediately get you transferred to 911.

This brings back memories! I installed a hitch on my Tesla 3 last summer. Did all the wiring myself, too! Then I took my car into Tesla for repair of an unrelated item and they undid all the wiring since they thought it was in the way but didn't put it back! Grr! This may be obvious but don't forget that hauling stuff will suck your battery MUCH faster and the battery calculator on the car's computer doesn't take that into account. Be well charged up before any hauling. We coasted into one town on zero battery because of this the first time. Luckily made it to the supercharger!
@GoHerping
3 жыл бұрын
I'm averaging about 400kwh vs my usual 275 or so, honestly not quite as bad as I anticipated. do you tend to find chargers with trailer pull throughs or have to disconnect the trailer every charge? the majority I find don't have them. Also my NoA is having issues connecting to the ultrasonic sensors so I guess I'll need to give service a heads-up on the wiring
For anyone who wonders 'geez how can this young person be so successful what is his secret?' I think the secret is pretty obvious in this video. You are willing to put in the hard work. Very inspiring to kick myself in my own lazy ass.
