He said "Look at these bars I made off like Bernie" This line is so well thought out so the word play aspect is " i (MADE OFF) like Bernie" as in Bernie Madoff (pronounced made-off) so that's the wordplay aspect, but hes also saying he "made off like bernie" as in "made off" in the sense to steal or snatch something. For example if someone stole you're wallet you could say " that dude made off with my wallet"... So " I made off(stole/robbed) like Bernie(Madoff)" Bernie Madoff is a conman that used Ponzi scheme to rob countless victims. In the end its estimated that he stole (made off with) something like $65 Billion... and as a result has been sentenced to 150 years in prison...

Weird Al always made it his policy to ask the original artists for permission before he did a parody of their song. Even though, legally, he didn't have to get permission and could just do the songs anyway (because parody is protected under Fair Use), if the artist said no, he wouldn't do the song. Famously, Prince is the only person who has ever said no (and so Al never released his Prince parody). Pretty much every other artist has said that it's an honor to have Weird Al parody their song and that it's a sign of having "made it." Another fun fact: Michael Jackson was so into the idea of Weird Al's parodies of his songs, he even arranged to have the original dancers from his own video be in Al's video and to let Al use the actual location from the MJ video for the parody video.
