I had Mixed Feelings About Inside Out 2 until...

Фильм және анимация

Sorry I had to reuse multiple scenes in this video since I just had to work with trailers for the visual aspect ;0;
UHMM,,,, TBH THIS VIDEO WASN'T PLANNED LOL I didn't think I would actually make a video about Inside Out 2 since like I stated in my community post, I think that I didn't have much to say about it and I think that statement still hold strongly.
After I finished recording the audio to this video, the editing process took longer than I thought and I listened to the commentary KZreadrs I subscribe to and they basically said the same things I have LMAOO but I think its still fun to make something about it!
I do have more art related videos coming up soon so hopefully that'll be on the agenda soon. Hopefully this makes up for the lack of videos within the April-May territory hehehe
I take KZread very seriously guys (i don't please send help)
As always, thank you for watching and if you read this entire description, please let me know which emotion is your favorite!

The scene where joy is scrambling to look through the memories is joy trying to find proof Riley is good enough and she is kind and a good person to prove her right and anxiety wrong but when she sees there is no proof she snaps and cries much like in the first movie when she sees that she's trapped she snaps and cries because she failed Riley

I was actually glad when the movie ended because it also gave me too much secondhand anxiety! I left the theater feeling worse than when I arrived! But I still did enjoy parts of it as well!

I really like the portrayal of Envy in the movie- she really captures that definition you laid out of “admiration + discontent”. She’s adorable, and means well, but she’s compelled to mirror people she admires uncritically, which reflects how Riley ends up mirroring the Firehawks uncritically with her sense of self lost.

She’s portrayed well but she just doesn’t do anything, which is a shame. It’s like she’s only there to interact with anxiety

@@ThePonderer I suppose. I wish they actually used envy for a small conflict, which then in turn drives anxiety further. The only thing envy does to Riley is make her get the red hair, which isn’t important to the story as is.

@@quad1532 I think Envy’s role as Anxiety’s yes-man already drives Anxiety further than she would be. I think it makes the point that envy and anxiety can form a loop, cause that’s what they do- Envy just “yes and”s all of Anxiety’s bad ideas without a second thought, and with Embarassment and Ennui being so passive that leaves Anxiety completely unchecked and gassed up.

@ThePonderer I can live with this explanation. Envy is jealous, not contradictory, so naturally she would go along with anything anxiety suggests. Maybe she'll have something to do with riley in the third installment, who knows.

I think there should've been a scene of Riley actually winning the hockey game, how she's celebrating with her team and then with her friends. The whole game is a climax to the plot, and it needed to be fully finished for the viewer to witness

I can understand your perspective on the scene feeling repetitive. If i could add a perspective. When it comes to understanding and realizing our mistakes for some it takes until were broken down to that point where joy is able to "see". Joy and Anxiety were both trying to push Riley to become more than what she is.

I like the way they made Embarassment be the secret double agent of the new emotions because he represents Riley's sense of regret for turning on her friends. Deep inside of course she'd feel embarassed for hiding her true self because of the wild fake (though somewhat plausible) scenarios that Anxiety concocts

10:00 i think the scene was trying to show Joy looking for joyful memories? But it atill didnt land well because why would she look for joyful memories in the place where distressful memories go? I definitely agree it was a strange scene

I guess I got lucky and got to see your vid recommended to me right away xD I always thought that the premise of the inside out movies was intriguing. Learning about how exactly emotions effect us and those times when they seem to dictate everything about us... even asking the questions like "how do emotions feel?" seeing things more through the lens of a range of emotions inside of us looking outwards, It's thought provoking for sure. I wonder which emotion would be at my console now that you bring it up pfft... I always had questions like these back then, and still do. From a third 'person' perspective, how would I seem to 'me'? What exactly makes up who I am? If I could look into a mirror and see something deep inside of me, what would stare back at me? I got a bit reminded of it now that you pointed out some things in your review, haha. That was my general impression from the first movie as my life back then at 13 was quite something... since we're a bit older now, it's always kinda like a "looking back" feeling of nostalgia and being able to ID those times more accurately. As they say, hindsight is 20/20 I like the review and I have yet to fully watch the movie, but I've heard a bit about it already going in and was just curious on your take. Another great vid, nice work light! I'll be back when I finish the movie itself to see if it has a similar impact to me pfft

Envy is petite, cute, but lacking in everything. The big things of note are the huge eyes complex eyes, vs everything else being small, humble and simple Then there’s her speech. She constantly admires everything, but then transitions into wanting it for herself or Riley. That is the envy. In spite of what you have, you admire something so much, thst you want it for yourself.

That’s precisely what I found, I was quite literally on the edge of my seat watching this film. It didn’t help that I had recently experienced something very similar to Riley during this film, I could totally relate to having lots of anxiety about the uncertainy of future events, or major life transitions.

It made sense to me that this film wouldn't hit the same emotional level as the first, for the simple reason THAT moview as about cathartic sadness and learning when to let Sadness take over... which of COURSE is going to be more of a tearjerker. And... of course... they were never gonna top Bing Bong. SPOILERS: BUT honestly I don't think that in itself takes away from this movie, since the ibg emotion for this film was Anxiety, and god knows they displayed that in the climax and throughout VERY well. I also like that, in contrast to the first film where Joy new she had to get out of the way and let Sadness take over, THIS movie was about Joy telling ANOTHER emotion they had to step back, AND Joy was the one who got to take over in the end: NOW while also acknowledging she ALSO was making mistakes but eya

When I first watched this movie, I was going into it thinking oh great another one of those Disney failures then I watched it AND MY GOD it definitely led up to what I was hoping it would be not only did they keep Joy’s character growth from the first movie but also allowed the characters that we didn’t get to see much of grow as well fear anger, and disgust and like you said about the whole core memory dump, I didn’t understand that scene. Maybe it was her realizing that when you grow up, there’s less joy which would be pretty impactful if it wasn’t so confusing at first. The new emotions are great as well two of them don’t do much which is boredom and envy but that’s OK because they were entertaining the watch and actually had a really good jokes along with them. But. We all know damn well that the character that mattered the most was anxiety originally they were going to add an antagonist in the first movie but decided to scrap it as I wanted to focus on Riley‘s emotions and make sure none of them were evil, seeing trailers. I was worried that they were going to throw this out the window. I can confidently say, thankfully, they did not instead of being directly evil. Anxiety was more of an antihero kind of like joy at the start of the movie where she had to learn exactly like joy, except it kind of got out of hand because that’s just how anxiety works another worry of mine was once they’re out of headquarters. The steaks wouldn’t be that high. All they’d have to do is get back to headquarters and anxiety wouldn’t be able to do anything outside of headquarters thankfully, they also explained how contraptions like goofball Island are made and imagination or whatever the hell it’s called by having Riley along the way do more teenager things because anxiety is taking over creating these treacherous I guess you could say challenges, the characters have to get across in order to save Riley‘s weird tumor personality thing that was thrown at the back of the mind. All right now that I talked a lot about the movie even though I spoiled a lot already this is where real spoilers happen. Basically the ending So when joy disgust fear make it back to headquarters prior to that anxiety pushes Riley to the limit accidentally making her hurt one of her friends, bumping her during one of those hockey tournaments that she was doing along the movie or whatever it was causing Riley to go into the Penalty box along the movie, anxiety starts to panic. She can’t get Riley to move or something like that showing Riley having a panic attack. It’s genuinely hard to watch. But what’s happening back inside? Riley‘s mind is anxiety starts to go like weird crazy sonic shit I don’t know and begins to go speedy Gonzalez to the point where she’s creating a giant orange tornado that’s blowing around headquarters thankfully they’re able to get joy, fear, and disgust back, and once they do, joy decides to charge into the anxiety tornado the other emotions helping the main 3 pull out anxieties weird tumor that replace the other tumor for Riley and when joy charges in she sees anxiety moving so fast to the point where she looks still joy, delivers one of the hardest hitting lines in the movie you don’t get to choose who Riley is and right after that line, we cut back to anxiety face starting the tear up, dear God this moment did not make me cry but I did feel very impacted or more emotional. Should I say by the scene in fact, it might be the best scene in the movie and after that great line, she says another great line you need to let her go It works anxiety let’s go and joy grabs anxiety, pulls her out and altogether they are able to help get the personality thing out that anxiety made and just when they’re putting it in the original one, Riley still isn’t better because I’m on the way, the main four emotions that were following realize that they too aren’t any better than anxiety as they have been flushing out bad memories but also trying to get what they think is Riley’s personality, but in actuality used to be so they let Riley choose and choose she does it it grows into this weird cluster of different colors making Riley feel better. I know I butchered the emotional scene by explaining it so quickly at the end, but that’s because A I just got back from the movie theaters yesterday and completely forgot how it all happens and B no, there’s no that’s basically it for once Riley is able to choose which emotion she wants to have a perfect and to a great movie So yeah, that was my opinions on the movie. I hope you understood and liked it. Also excuse the bad grammar. I was just trying to get this out as quick as possible because holy shit look how big that is.

I think if they'd really like to resolve the cliffhanger, I'd rather that be done in a short as opposed to a movie. While it'd be interesting to see what happens, I don't think there'd be enough natural conflict to justify a whole movie.
