    Honestly my biggest takeaway in this video is how incredibly smart it is to make your studio out of a shipping container 😂. Oh yeah, the lights are actually cool too. 🙈

    Your attention to detail in all of your content, and I have no doubt that the products you recommend are of the highest quality. One of the things I appreciate most about you, Jesse, is your authenticity. You never promote products you don't believe in or use yourself, which makes your recommendations all the more valuable. I've purchased several products based on your recommendations, and I've never been disappointed. Whether it's cameras, lenses, tripods, or software, you always seem to know exactly what products will help content creators elevate their work to the next level. Your recommendations are always well-researched and backed by your own personal experience, which gives me confidence in my purchasing decisions. Cheers Jesse

    Really enjoyed this video, great work! Currently looking to pick up a smallish light. One of the things I want to do is to use a spotlight add on to bounce controlled, shaped light from a wall or reflector as my key. Really going for single light solutions. Do you think the 60 or even the 100 is bright enough for that? Or do I really need to be considering 2-300W lights for that kind of set-up? You said you wouldn't use these for book lighting (which was a very useful point to make) so I'm wondering.....

  • @JesseDriftwood

    @JesseDriftwood

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks! It kind of depends on a bunch of other things such as ambient light and the camera/ lens combo you're shooting on. I use the FX3 in pretty controlled lighting setups a lot of the time, which means I can shoot at 12800 ISO and light a scene with a single flashlight (mostly kidding here lol). In general if weight/ size isn't a concern, then having more output will give you more flexibility. The flip side to that is the more you know about lighting, the more creative you can be with what you have on hand to come up with solutions that work. I found the Aputure 2x Fresnel I used on the G60 wasn't a perfect fit between the optics/ COB, so I'd love to see Zhiyun make a dedicated focusable fresnel for the ZY mount. We made a video quite a while back called "KZread intro's that don't suck" or something like that, and in that video we used a 300X on a fresnel thats shooting straight towards the camera into a bounce board for the key light, but I'd be shocked if that light was even at 40% brighntess for the shot. Also the shot is kinda wacky so you can see the bounce board and nightstand I'm talking about on the left side of the frame. That shot would have worked just fine with these two lights, and we actually plan on trying to do something similar later this week where we recreate a similar setup, since there were a few fun tricks involved in it.

    Why is everyone over selling the G60? It can't be powered without USB C power, so you have to have an annoying wire on it and the lights maximum output depends on the power output of your USB battery/Power brick or whatever you're using, so you can't just use any cheap power bank you buy off amazon. I keep seeing people say, you can just buy these extra things to make this cheap light better, but all it is is additional expenses for features the light is missing that other lights have! The X100 is better, the size makes it convenient, but again, you have to pay extra for an already expensive light. I would suggest if you travel buy the X100 which I shall be doing because the power to size ratio works for me. However honestly the G60 seems like a waste unless you are shooting in a tiny room and have no intention of moving it. Buy a better light!

    G60 is for the budget concious entry level to enthusiast. There are people with PD batteries and cables. You can grow with this and add the X100 or a better light when you have the dedication and budget. We recently used the G60 (75% power) as a high flood in an Indian wedding with 2 TorchLEDs. All powered by V-Mount. It worked well during ceremony (2 hours) and reception program (1.5 hours)

    @@johnm1707 but the Amaran 60D S is more powerful, cheaper and has a NP-F Battery Plate, and is pretty much the same size as the G60, which while may I add is called the G60 doesn’t even output at 60 watts so they’re even trying to trick you with the name! And as you “grow” you’ll realise it’s limitations but you would’ve already spent the money.

    @@JustJoshTV We are watching an influencer's release (late) video and not a real review to compare to other products. YMMV and to take eveything with a grain of salt.

    @@JustJoshTV To be clear, I own both and the amaranth 60d is not nearly the same size. And yes a daylight balanced light will always be brighter than an equivalent watt bi-colour light, that isn’t a marketing tactic, it’s science. It’s fine if you don’t like the G60 but as someone who owns both lights you mentioned, I’d grab the G60 over the 60d everyday of the week. And I’ve been paid by both companies, and have a personal preference towards Aputure products most of the time.

    @@workofdavidross - Great. So the fact that Jesse is getting paid by Zhiyun doesn't influence what he says or does... I purpose an experiment. Jesse pulls this video down, in it's place he posts a video saying that the Zhiyun lights are pieces of shit and no one should buy them. Jesse must leave this video up for a minimum of one week. After that, he can take it down and put the ad back up, or whatever. If the fact that Jesse is getting paid by Zhiyun truly does not influence anything, this experiment should be easy and of no consequence to Jesse.
