Here in the Philippines we don’t cut the pomelo like apple otherwise it will taste sour or off to tastebuds. We usually cut the top off (delicately not cut from outside to flesh, just until to white layering only) and we just peel it like orange. You must peel it off that way for best taste. 😊

@@bgram7866 Instructions for pomelo rind hat (usually reserved for the youngest of the family, but we're all babies to someone): 1. Slice off top part of rind, so that the top is flat. 2. Score (cut the rind, but do not cut into the fruit itself) the sides in a kind of "X" design, but do NOT score to the bottom. Score a little bit past halfway to the bottom, otherwise, you will just have separate pieces of rind. 3. Carefully peel the rind away from the flesh. It should come off in one whole piece. It will look similar to a fat squid. 4. Cut off one of the wedges of rind (one of the squid's legs) for the face. 5. Find the youngest in the family, and place on head. You may also wear it yourself. It is very aromatic. 6. Save the hat to make braised pomelo rind, or just toss it in the compost.

My neighbor growing up had a 20 foot tall red pomelo, I stole a fruit off it when I was 10 years old and was mind blown by such an enormous fruit! I remember it tasting very similar to the way you described

I have planted the seeds and had about 4-6 small plants/trees in a height of more than one meter (took like 6-7 years in Sweden). As we need to move my dear friend Marco-Antonio adopted them, so I hope he will take really good care of them! When I move to a warmer climate I defiantly will grow these citrus trees as the whole family loves them. Mostly the red ones but also the honey pomelo (white flesh).

Pomelo is one of the best fruit out there, we don't cut straight through the middle but score the outside and peel it like an orange 😂 also I believe the reds taste sweeter than the normal one according to my mom 👀 your pomelo tree looks amazing!

pomelo is very handy for citrus breeding, its DNA adds sweetness to the seedlings, and it is the only citrus that doesn't have some seeds that are an exact copy of the parent ( non - parthenogenesis ) in other words it's babies (seeds ) have 1/2 mother's DNA and 1/2 fathers DNA, other citrus have some seeds that are just copies of the parent.

Fantastic to be living somewhere , where you can grow such fabulous pomelos and other tropicals. The tree looks so healthy. The size of that fruit became apparent as soon as you picked it up. I use the 'rind' to make the candied peel sweet treats. I bet the juice is lovely mixed with some grated zest and crushed ice! Enjoy!

One of my favourite fruit to eat. My kids love it too! It’s easiest to just cut the ends off the top and bottom, then score the pith a few times and peel the chunks off by hand. Basically peel it whole.
