Birds are amazing. I think you are on the right track. Do some research and maybe find a bird in need of a home rather a pet store. I’m sure you are aware of the reasons behind that. But nonetheless these guys can be amazing pets. But they aren’t for everyone.... They can be a life long commitment!

The death of your cat (and it has happened to me) is very sad. But there is good in everything. Your cat has gone to a peaceful place and you now have the opportunity to rescue some other animal or bird who is suffering from lack of love and care. My two cats are rescues and they have bloomed into happy beauties.

Hi, JamieLeigh, Dave, Capri! Thank you so much for this beautiful free flight video of other peoples parrots in Australia! It was so much fun getting to know the birds, what species they are, and their owners. The parrots looked so beautiful in slow motion as they flap their wings! They remind me of angels. I feel that birds are earth angels and here to help people in many ways. I also feel many people are earth angels to help the birds as well. This is all so special! Thank you so much again for your special video! I love to see the pet birds having so much fun and enjoyment while flying!!! Love, big hugs, birdie kisses. Barb, Beenie, Baby spirit :)))

Bobette Armour - If you really need help, you could start a GoFundMe for your Catalina to get help (tell her story and explain her challenges and what she needs help with and a little about your situation and why you can’t afford paying for help yourself). Just a thought... Many love to contribute to helping animals in need and I can’t see why they shouldn’t be equally interested in helping your bird as the ordinary rescue bird cases (As I see it, this is a kind of rescue&rehabilitation as well). Having 3 homes in such a short time is really sad for a bird, no wonder it has some issues. After starting the GoFundMe, you could post about it on Facebook groups like Parrot Station etc (as long as it is permitted, I don’t know their rules) and in comment fields like this on KZread to let ppl know about it.

Kookaburras & black cockies, more bird species I get to see every day, well not every single day with the black cockies but everyday with kookaburras. 5 of them sit on my fence each morning for a bit of meat. I also have magpies who visit me for a piece of meat every day. Magpies have the best birdsong ever, it's an iconic Aussie sound!! You mentioned koalas, I'm 6 houses up from a forest that has the famous Port Macquarie koala hospital in it. I love black cockies but the black with red on them (not as common to see) are absolutely beautiful!!! When flocks of black cockatoos are screeching as they fly it's a sure sign that rain's coming, more precise than meteorologists!! I don't take where I live for granted, we often have kangaroos hopping along one if our beaches. There's heaps of eagles, dolphins & whales- I live in paradise 🤗

  • @MikePuorro

Kookaburras are regulated in the U.S. and can only be owned by permitted educators and some performers. They still find their way into some pet shops and the hands of private sellers. Big bucks. Amazing and wonderful to see them flying around their natural habitat.

I take my little budgies to free fly. It took so long to train tho, but totally worth it. Doesn’t matter the size of the bird, birds are meant to fly. Of course, safety first!

Heh Jamie and Dave. I started to watch adventures with Rokco about 2 or so months back. I'm glad u got to experience this rather large group of free flyers from Down Uhder. I had to go back a few years to watch and get familiar with who's who and their life story's. Of course the birds are beautiful and well cared for. I did notice SOME of a FEW owners interact with you and Dave. I didnt see Capri anywhere, noticed a few young kids there. But if I'm being honest and I believe I should always speak my feelings. This group are obviously closely knit and spend alot of time together. It was nice to see the FEW pictures of you and Dave interacting with a few of them but would have liked to have seen more, especially the people interacting with you guys. To be straight forward I really prefer yours and Dave's way and style. You both are alot warmer and approachable in general. I found out very quickly that they do not do Q&A for fans that want to know anything about anything. So its watch and enjoy kinda thing. The differance is they free fly with their birds, but you both get more involved with all your fans and followers where they are pretty much a tight knit as I said community. I mentioned a ways back when I began watching this group that i was a longtime fan of birdtricks and where they familiar with you, got no response or for any other questions. I know they give lessons for training or so I thought they did but not sure. Once Again; I'm not knocking them and their group, the flock is amazing to watch but I just felt a little Chilly and over the past few months have lost interest in just watching them get together and fly. I guess it's because I just feel more like a Stalker rather then " A part of something more". I may likely get some thumbs down for being candid and giving my opinion on how I feel with this group, but heh they are still doing a great thing here with how wounderful they are with all the many exotics they have , I just felt some could have been alittle more inviting as you both were guests and I felt like some were standoffish. Oh geez I hope I don't get jumped on for just giving my impression of how this vidio looked to me anyways. I ♥️ you birdtricks, as your my Cup Of Tea " bubble tea that is lol. Look forward to more as always. Kathleen.

Aussie here to explain ..... hahahahaha. American people are taught at a young age to speak up and be forthright. Australians are far more reserved and wouldn't want Jamie or Dave to feel that they were trying to be clever or better than them ... like don't want to be seen as a smart ass .... and to make it even more complicated it differs from state to state .... hahahahaha! Having been around Americans overseas your way is seems much more confident ... Aussies are confident around others but would be upset if anything they did or said upset another and therefore hold back until they get to know them. Aussies are very affable ... they will make you laugh and make the best of any situation but are reluctant to put themselves 'out there' ..... as you could see in the vid they sought confirmation from each other so that nobody thought they were trying to be better than anyone else.

@@TheVelvetraven Heh Cassandra. Thank you for taking your time to read my post and reply. I understand other countries people have different customs and ways in which they live by. Places like China, India to name a few have very different culturel views for sure. I think however that speaking up " not to be confused with being RUDE " is in most instances how your raised, and your personality. Just a Fun Fact...I'm not from America, rather I am born and raised in Canada, currently I live in British Columbia Vancouver, which is a very mild climate and steps from the Ocean Beach Town Famous for its beauty. But as my Father was a Service Man/ Soldier for 21 years we traveled to many places. Sadly we never had the pleasure to have seen your most beautiful country, that Boasts the most incredible array of everything from Huge insects 😲 , Spiders 🕷️🕸️ etc to Beautiful Exotic Birds of coarse. After reading my post I have to say that the way I said certain things would come off as being not nice. So in ture Canadian Fashion, please except my apology! I watch this channel alot and the people who own and love on their feathered friends is the best. Again thx for responding , and not everyone lives in America lol.n😅🌈💓🐦

@@kathleenadriaensen7129 Hi, another Aussie here to add a bit more explanation after reading your comment 😎 I get the impression that you're talking more about the general nature of Australians to be understated/laid back rather than more explanatory/direct, like you'd frequently see in an American content creator's video. Rest assured there's no rudeness there, it's just the Australian culture - think of it as being laid back or chilled out. For example, you'd probably agree that your average Canadian is more laid back & chilled out than your average American - Americans tend to take themselves quite seriously! LOL So what CassandraC-B was explaining is that Aussies are _even more_ laid back than your average Canadian - we don't take ourselves particularly seriously at all! We aren't particularly exuberant, actually super-understated - and this can unintentionally seem like we're a bit disengaged in videos like this, if you're used to watching a situation through the lens of the BirdTalk team's more American-style of videos (where you expect to see more excitement, narrative & on-camera conversation with other free-flyers). Also keep in mind that this event went for quite a few hours & it was just a gathering of enthusiasts & friends - like a bunch of dog owners meeting up at the local park for their dogs to play. They probably didn't want to be interviewed because the focus was on the birds, and you'll notice this has much more footage of the free flying than your average BirdTalk video. Us Aussies are a welcoming bunch, so I can guarantee the Womach's got a warm reception which just isn't on camera - they were too busy filming the birds & enjoying the experience 😎🦜 You should definitely come & visit once the world has settled back down a bit, we love Canadians! (and know you aren't Americans btw! 🍁 LOL) 👍

I'm part of a Western Australian conservation group for black cockatoos. So interesting that yours are able to feed without specific species of eucalyptus. For nesting, Carnaby's Black-Cockatoos require eucalypt woodland, comprising principally of salmon gum or wandoo. Their food is found in kwongan heath. They require a close association between breeding and feeding sites during the breeding season. If these two very different habitats are not within a reasonable distance of each other, breeding attempts fail. After breeding, the cockatoos move to different food sources such as banksia and hakea heathlands. So interesting to see your babies feeding as we're frantically trying to establish ecocorridors of species specific flora.
