    I got you beat Speg, for months i kept getting an offer from a credit card company to take advantage of a special offer, get their card, spend $500 in 3 months, and get a $300 cash back bonus. No annual fee. One night I thought what the heck, I'll fill out the application. Boom, almost instant approval (I have insanely good credit) as soon as the card arrived I bought a little over $500 in silver from SD Bullion. Free shipping, and as soon as I was notified of my $300 bonus I applied it to the balance on the card, then immediately paid the card off. $500 of silver minus $300 bonus, no taxes, and free shipping. That's a bargain. I bought 1 ozt Australian Perth Mint 125th anniversary silver dollars. Beautiful coins in reverse proof, each coin in a plastic capsule. I wish they had the Queen on the obverse instead of Chuck, but might be more collectable. Depending on how long Chuck will be on the thrown, no not the bathroom. You know what I mean. 😊😅

    Ive got you beat too, lol did the same thing on a business card, for my LLC, when I bought my truck I had to give a few grand down payment so knowing that I opening a business line or credit and got $900 worth of points of free money for spending over 3k in 90 days, only used it for the down payment...Financed my truck put $355 down used my new card got my $900 in points converted it to cash back, got an instant transfer to the bank...then made a $900 extra payment on the truck ;) If you KNOW you will be making a large purchase theres no reason not to keep doing this, as long as you haven't applied for any cards in a few months and have a score over 750 you will be approved every time, reap the rewards and keep the account open ONLY if there is no annual fee and the extra credit only helps your credit to debt ratio keeping your score high...

    My takeaway is that Costco is breaking Florida law by improperly charging sales tax. Their computer system should automatically account for bullion sales over $500. The fact that it is NOT, tells me there's potential for a class action lawsuit here. How many customers paid the sales tax because they didn't know it was supposed to be tax free ? Why don't you return to Costco, buy two of the bars (to get over the $500 threshold) and don't say anything during checkout... and see if you get charged tax. Don't worry, you can get your tax money back later... this is just to test their system. Then have a lawyer send them a letter about it. Costco should know every customer they overcharged, and Costco needs to credit that money back to their customers credit cards ! Speg, you just stumbled on a good lawsuit that will help protect the public.

    Dude ur such a nerd u can't law suit over sales tax. Every store has the right to include sales tax. Also the tax of 7 percent on 300 is like what? Hardly nothing. Stop being a goof ball. Plus business pay credit card debit card fees. You don't know how Costco is set up maybe the taxes go towards their fees. Stop being a goof ball😅

  • @Spegtacular

    @Spegtacular

    17 күн бұрын

    So the tax on the $1500 which is 5 bars was over $100... so not hardly nothing as it's easily $20 added to each bar. The store has NO right to include sales tax on non-taxable or tax-exempt items. It's a law. That being said, for some reason people seem to believe that if there is tax, somehow Costco would benefit from that tax. Tax money isn't kept by the company lol. Regardless, tax should not be charged in my state (Florida) with $500 or more in bullion in a single transaction.

  • @joeknipp6698

    @joeknipp6698

    17 күн бұрын

    @@Spegtacular Speg... you've got a potential class-action lawsuit here. Contact the FL state attorney general and see what they say. Also, make another purchase (or more) at the same Costco and others in the state and see if they are incorrectly charging sales tax. This is something the state SHOULD do, but if you do it yourself, then you have proof that the state can not deny (or hide).

  • @Hooya2007

    @Hooya2007

    16 күн бұрын

    As Speg alluded to, the improperly charged tax is remitted to the state. In order to sue over a sales tax dispute in Florida, you have to first seek reimbursement from the retailer, and then there's an administrative process if that doesn't work. Only after all that could you sue. You might be able to get the state to tell Costco to notify potentially impacted buyers of the opportunity for reimbursement, but there's nothing "requiring" them to (though with Costco's reputation they may do it willingly if enough people complained to them).

    I would like to draw attention to an important aspect of credit card transactions that often goes unnoticed. While credit cards provide convenience and rewards for consumers, they are not equivalent to free cash. In reality, businesses incur costs when processing credit card payments, which ultimately affect the prices of goods and services. Here are some key points to consider: Processing Fees: Credit card companies charge businesses a fee for each transaction. These fees can add up significantly, especially for small businesses. Consequently, businesses often adjust their pricing to cover these costs. Hidden Tax: Just like taxes on big businesses, credit card processing fees act as a hidden tax on consumers. Although it may seem convenient to use plastic for purchases, the associated fees contribute to higher prices for everyone. Cash Back Illusion: While cash back rewards are enticing, they don’t negate the underlying costs. For instance, if a business has to raise prices by 5% to cover credit card fees, even a 2% cash back offer doesn’t fully offset the additional expense. In summary, credit cards provide benefits, but they come at a cost. As consumers, we should be aware of the impact our payment choices have on businesses and overall pricing.

    @@maritimezhang The complexities of our world often go unnoticed, largely due to the inability of many to perceive the realities that lie directly before them. The influence of credit card companies on the economy is a prime example of this. These corporations indirectly contribute to the inflation of everyday commodities, such as food. If this concept seems difficult to grasp, I would recommend enrolling in an economics course for a more comprehensive understanding.

    So the, I’m guessing 200 million Americans with credit cards should stop cold using them. We are very aware that merchants have to pay for credit/debit cards machine usage but if we stopped cold using credit cards, you think all business would lower the costs of their goods and services? I don’t have a business degree but I do have a minor in business.

  • @fushi-the-Immortal

    @@Denice340 Credit card fees feel like they're everywhere these days, making everything more expensive. While rewards programs are nice, for everyday purchases, I'm not sure the cashback always justifies the fees. Wouldn't it be fairer if stores were more transparent, with a surcharge for cards and a discount for cash? Maybe if everyone knew the true cost of credit card transactions, competition could drive prices down overall.

  • @fushi-the-Immortal

    @fushi-the-Immortal

    Credit cards offer advantages for both online businesses and consumers. Businesses can expand their reach to a wider customer base, while buyers benefit from fraud protection. However, the convenience of credit cards shouldn't come at the expense of hidden fees or inflated prices. Ideally, transaction fees should be transparent and not reflected in overall product pricing. This would prevent a situation where everyone ends up paying a premium for the convenience of plastic.

    $299.95 is $300. For what you spend on the membership you aren’t saving anything, you can get them for less elsewhere. It is great you are paying off your credit card each cycle but most are not and going into massive debt just buying silver and gold, defeating the purpose and compounding their debt problem.
