1/1000 of spot is 2.328 today, 2.307 yesterday. The premium is gone as soon as you buy these just like gold coins. But these are 100%+ marked up

@@johnpower8356 It really depends on why you're stacking gold. If you're stacking for weight, getting gold spot or large gold bars are good options. If you want gold that can be spent, goldbacks are absolutely the best choice in my opinion. The premium isn't the main consideration for money. The spread and utility is. That's why we don't judge the USD based off of it's melt value, which is basically 0. We judge it by how many goods are services we can trade it for. it has utility, therefore it has value. (for now..)

If you think you're going to get spot out "in the wild" you're either new to markets are severely lacking in mental capacity. Spot is just that...A SPOT PRICE IN THE MARKET.

I don’t believe going back to the gold standard is going to stop fiat printing, it hasn’t in the past and maybe this is why we went off the gold standard. One thing I can say is we had very little inflation before 1972, there after our properties doubled in price in a very short time period thereafter.

It takes about 7 ounces of gold to cover my property taxes. I would like to get 8 years of property taxes in gold set aside.

Wait, you pay taxes to buy property, then get to pay more taxes on the Value of your property? After they already steal taxes from your paycheck? Then if you purchase anything they charge tax on new items? Then if you buy a second hand object they tax it again? I'm soo confused why and how the American people allowed this all to happen without engaging in a rebellion?.

@@Graymenn Imagine going into the hardware store, selecting a $10 box of screws - and then paying with a $10 Goldback that you paid $46 for.

There are other ATMs that just dispense small bars of gold rather than goldbacks. Premiums are much lower for that. (Not that I don't like goldbacks/find them interesting but 100-200% premiums are pretty steep).

Try 400-600% premiums. That's not steep, that's a scam.

I saw gold distribution machines like snack machines in Singapore. I was going to buy a few grams but the markup was insane.

Not the first gold ATM. I think dubai has that honour. Not converted to "pure" gold. The gold may be .999 pure, but the product is mostly plastic. They arent very durable, no one accepts them, and they have a huge premium. But they are pretty I guess. Owning gold is smart. Owning these is just owning something for the collectable/novelty value.

The gold ATM in Dubai does not dispense 1/1000 ounce of gold. They are durable. A growing amount of businesses accept them. The premium remains in resale and if you bought these just 3 months ago your return is very good.

This is a very dumb way to own precious metals due to the ridiculous mark up over spot. It's astronomical and thus proof that anyone who buys these goldbacks is just looking for a pricey status symbol, not wealth storage. How can it be real wealth storage if you lose 1/3-1/2 of your wealth in the transaction?

Premium utility explained because the average PMer doesn't understand the Goldback and what it is able to do. Goldbacks are not like anything they've seen before. The Goldback has something called "utility," It's like buying a new car, a base model is cheaper than a luxury model. One does more and is better, thus more expensive. Because bullion isn't easily spendable, fractional, affordable, fungible, leasable, bankable, tippable, investable or as accessible it isn't better than the Goldback in any of these ways. One costs more per weight but it is better for spending because of all it can do over what little bullion can do! In the end, the Goldback is a companion to bullion. One is sound money, the Goldback. One is a store of value, bullion. Both are freedom from the system. PS: The premium as you call it stays with the aurum. It is passed on, never lost.

$1 goldbacks are over $6/ea on apmex and $5-6 everywhere else.... for 1/1000 oz. at $5x1000= $5000/oz and at $6x1000= $ 6000/oz. Too expensive. Even Maplegrams are cheaper.

These gold backs are just getting off the ground.
