I got SCREWED by ComicConnect | CGC Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Unboxing | A Cautionary Tale
Join me as I unbox my new TMNT CGC slabs from ComicConnect! I got totally screwed because I purchased a #2 and it turned out that they didn't have it in hand and it wasn't until almost 2 months later that they refunded me. The seller mysteriously never came through. With my money tied up that long, I'm now pretty much priced out from buying the book because it's doubled in value. Something to be aware of if buying a hot book from ComicConnect, you may want to check that they are at least in communications with the seller if it's a book they don't have in hand. Note: all of their auction items are in hand, it's just the buy it now books that may not be in hand. Some are, some aren't, and as of right now there is no way to differentiate on the website which books they have in hand and which they don't.

Recently I got hit by the FOMO bug, BAD! Someone posted some TMNT on IG and I kept seeing TMNT 1 hit the hot 10 list and I wanted to get in before it was too late. We talk about FOMO a lot on this channel, and FOMO is the Fear of Missing out. Sometimes it can serve you well and sometimes it can do you dirty. This is another example of it serving me well because since I’ve bought these books they’ve doubled in price. TMNT 1 continues to shatter records, the most recent sale was for a 9.2 which sold for 28,800 almost triple the previous sale two months earlier of 11,500. A 9.4 sold for 36,000, up from 17,000 on the previous sale, more than double in one sale increment. Anyways, I decided that I wanted to collect all the Mono color cover of TMNT, Issue 1,2,3,4, I just really like the nostalgia and history of it, I think it’s so cool that these books originally had monocolor covers probably to save on printing costs and now they are bonafide investments! Now FOMO was telling me that I should jump on a 2nd or 3rd print of TMNT a couple of months ago when it first starting hitting the hot 10 list but I didn’t. And that’s an example of FOMO trying to serve me well but I got in the way! Now I’m just way too scared to make the leap. With sales that high over FMV it’s just too scary to take the leap on an issue #1. For now I’ll just be happy with my issues 2,3,4, although I will be looking for opportunities to upgrade these...

@@BrysComics There is a couple times I've used exchange but not for bigger books. Hit me up on IG and i can recommend some sellers that I've used for big books.

Nice =). I started going a bit crazy with TMNT purchases about 4-5 months ago when prices started jumping. I basically had the same thought as you and started grabbing the early issues (1-4 and Raphael). I think I’ve done 3 unboxing videos with them now =). Fun books to get.

Great books. Easily some of my favorites. In a manner of speaking, worth the wait. Still sucks about #2. And FYI, the #1's almost look exactly the same. On the cover of the third printing, the second "T" in Turtles has extra blood on it that's not on the first two printing. Just a little fun fact. Stay safe everyone..... 👍

I thought they didn't have any books on site. I am waiting on an order from the 24th of January. I hope they took action against the seller who never shipped the book you bought. That is total BS.

ComicConnect is really good overall. The pricing is possibly the best. However, sometimes things can be slow due to the reasons you mentioned.

Agreed. And in some cases like this that can really screw ya over...
I felt the stress level in your story. Wow! It sounds like that woman was reading a scripted response but it's understandable in these times. Thanks for sharing. I don't have an Instagram account but you are tempting me to get one.

This is the third video I have seen people complain about Comic Connect and I don't watch many videos.
Also, they shouldn't charge you until the books are shipped.
I live in New York and the pandemic has not slowed things that much !!
I know it's crazy but I LOVE TMNT 1 4th print - first Shredder on Cover, and first Turtles in color on cover. I wouldn't mind a 3rd print, but dang the 4th has some cool stuff going for it.

Brian, I'm not a fan of Comic Connect.
That is so Poor Customer Service(C.S.)....Reminds me of sending a book 8.5 CGC and I wanted to get it pressed/graded as I thought it would get a bump....I got it back after 4 months as a 8.0....I said WTF...C.S. said "They, think this book was a 8 and did not honor the prior CGC 8.5 even though I did CCS/CGC....Complete B.S.!

Man that is so disappointing!
Nothing makes my blood boil more then sellers who issue refunds because a book has climbed in price. I’m dealing with a seller now on some books I bought back in October. There not even big key books. I’ve been playing nice so I can get them but once I do I’m putting him in blast to warn others.
I've used CC a few times; one time I never got the comic, assumed it was porch piracy and got a credit for it but it took months to resolve. Another time sent me a high grade book that turned out to have an ad clipped out from one page and had to return it. Other times it was ok. It's hit or miss.
Wow, they took a little over 3 weeks for me, and I thought that was bad.
That was my TMNT #2 and I didn't want to sell to Comic Guy Bry lool. Man I hate shady comic dealers. We all risk selling too low sometimes.

I had a similar issue with Comic Connect. I spent a lot of money and no sign of my books being shipped. However, one of the owners got wind of my issues that I was very public about snd reached out to me. After explaining my issues he got it taken care of right away.
Ooooh, I understand delays happen, COVID-19 pandemic or not, this is awful customer service. I have your kind of patience. I've waited 2 months for orders where they'd go through this exchange program. "We don't have the comic book in stock. We're waiting on the comic book that we ordered from another retailer." Will avoid ComicConnect like the plague. The fact that you had to go hunting for those books afterward and prices doubled in the 100s.. Not cool.

I would have been furious. With this horror story I will never use this company. 👎🏽 BTW I ordered a comic from Brys store and I received a notification that the book was being shipped out the next day. And that’s what’s up in terms of giving good customer service.

I am definitely reticent to order from them...not the first time I've heard this tale of woe. Sorry to hear about that! On another note...I am a big fan of TMNT #1 Fifth printing with the beautiful red wraparound cover...still fairly affordable and is 🔥

They really need to work in that large slab design...
That sucks. I haven’t used them before, have you ever had a similar experience? Makes me wonder about using them to be honest. As an aside, I’ve got a mid-grade 3rd printing TMNT First issue I’m about to send off to CGC. Wish me luck.

Not a fan of Comic Connect and Metropolis ..they have the worst shipping department. They have a great product but for heaven sake work on your shipping department. I call bullshit on the pandemic excuse. I have had the same experience with them prior to the pandemic. Her name is Kiera and she uses the same exact lines with me. Your not alone...
We invaded Iraq faster
They take well over a month to ship. Can’t stand the buyers premium as well. Soon they’ll be out of business thanks to Instagram, whatnot and myslabs
