I Got SCAMMED Buying This Air Powered Can Crusher On AMAZON

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Things you didn't know you needed... well, I knew I needed it. I needed some type of epic can crusher for the warehouse to deal with the massive piles of cans building up on my metal recycling pile. I found exactly what I needed on Amazon but accidentally bought it from an Amazon to Amazon arbitrage scheme that took me for $80 with the worlds worst return policy, instead of the $20 no one would bat an eye at. If you're gonna arbitrage at least try to hide it and don't do it in a scammy way. Anyway, air powered can crushers are amazing, can't wait to recycle a million cans.

    It might be a scam, but nothing that will affect you. I think they buy the product using credit from a merchant, ship it directly to you, then never pay the credit bill, so your money is free to them. In this case they would not even pay the eBay fees and pull the cash out of PayPal asap then liquidate the bank account using a stolen, or fake, identity. I was shopping for a specific bike years ago a disabled person could ride. They get expensive, but cheap options are sold online by reputable manufacturers. I found one at 40% off from a odd named site like abc123centstore or some crap. I was fully ready to make a claim with my credit card company and used a one time use credit card number for protection. The product came directly from a big retailer but from one of their very far away B&M locations, like someone in the stores warehouse literally packed and shipped it to me. It also took a long time to arrive and my emails to their customer support were not responded to. I thought the site was a subsidiary the big retailer used to liquidate clearance items but now I suspect they were a scammer and I got lucky to actually get something rather than jump through hoops with my credit company over the scam. The product was 100% authentic as the manufacturer confirmed when I contacted them about a paint defect. The site was not around after a few months. I feel the last people to buy anything from that site before it went down got nothing. Fast forward to today and I see ads on deal sites for some random name sites that offer products at 25% msrp, just too good to be true. The one I researched had internet posts laying out the whole scam as it was way more obvious they would probably be sending you nothing and are trying to make as much cash as fast as they can before disappearing.

    Took a section of heavy pipe (about four feet long)with a dogged-on hinged heavy end plate. Attached it to an old log splitter with a round plate attached to the ram but just smaller in diameter than the i.d. of the pipe (well casing..?),and attached a hopper over the opening near the top when the cylinder is retracted. Cans fall i to the pipe, get crushed, and repeat until the pipe is full. Then, open hinged end and let the ram push the compacted cans out like an aluminum sausage...very effective and each "sausage" weighs about 10-12 pounds. Easy to transport..fun to operate

    We've had a pneumatic can crusher in our family for 30 years now. Pro tip: Drill a small hole in the can holder/fixture, dead center, opposite the piston and load the cans in the crusher so the open end is opposite the piston. The first time you hit a can with a swallow left in it and you _don't_ do as suggested, you'll regret it... I'd also ditch that top support gusset and thicken the base to add the structure back too (that's how ours is built). As long as there's a can in it, it can't completely close on your finger that way, but it would completely mangle you up the way it is now. We also always run ours with loose fitting gloves on.

I need to be able to carry it around with my girly arms too lol Will this work with a mini portable air compressor? One of those they sell on Amazon that are quite small and you can fill up tyres with them. On of them that I’m looking at has these details: - mini air pump - 60 second fast inflation (for tyre) - Inflation efficiency is 15L/ min - Max 150PSI (10 bar/10kg/1000kpa) - Max continuous working time is 20 mins I don’t care if it’s not as fast or if it works for a short time every time. I did not see anyone mention it, but if you are powering the air compressor with electricity then there is some waste by not going straight for an electric only option. I don't know how much time this saves, but it is definitely more convenient then using your own muscle. It also makes a smaller can so you can take more to the scrap yard in one trip saving resources overall.

    I ALWAYS search Amazon for other sellers offering the same thing. Often you'll get other competitors listed on the same page further down. I've saved hundreds by not being in a hurry and doing a little researching.

    I built one very similar to this several years ago, but I added a small PLC and a proximity switch that recognized when a can was dropped in, and it then cycled automatically. I think there's video on here somewhere of my first attempt with a linear actuator, but it was too slow.

    I've purchased a few things from Amazon its much like the swap meet in tha questionable side of town, so many cheap poorly made cinese knockoffs posing as brand name until the delivery arrives. I miss brick and mortar stores where you can see and feel the item and know what you are getting.

    My Grandpa had the ultimate can crusher. He had an exhaust valve from a freighter engine. It was so fun to smash cans with a ridiculous size valve, worked well too.

    You would have less problems with cans hanging to the crusher if you attach a square plate onto the bottom of the circular crush plate. The cans will deform around the round plate and hang to it. But won't deform enough to curl around and hang to the square one.

    Now you have to overpower it or build your own fantastic version. Maybe one that crushes a whole large container at a time. Or maybe build a melting foundry-those are cool AF, scalable and make great content. At the minimum you can pour ingots, or even better you can fashion cool or useful objects using the lost casting methods.

    One suggestion... put your crushed can capture barrel on a spare pallet now. That thing will get really heavy when it comes time to move it. Not like you don't have a forklift ready to go. As always cheers mate for the _crushing_ content and cheers to Gabe for being... Gabe. :D

    Seeing the can crusher in action has me thinking about how else you can use the air piston contained inside of it. Perhaps as a cheap means to lift a car? Or perhaps an easy way to open a door or a hatch. Or, perhaps a way to press the gas pedal to make something go fast with just a push of a button. The potential for fun is unlimited.......

  • @greatpix
    @greatpix3 жыл бұрын

    You should build a plexiglass feeder for the can crusher then add a sensor or circuit so it knows there's a can in position and triggers the piston.

    When that barrel is full he will need the towmotor to lift it. Best he sits it on a pallet.
