LOL! Thanks Mark! I am super excited to have it and what a showpiece it is! I am very happy he offered it up to me first and it got here in great shape. Have a busted willy would have been very disappointing! If I had built it an knew what paints were used then running it would be less worrisome but not knowing anything about it then it would be hard to patch the paint if anything were to go wrong on the drive. Hey Addam I'm so pleased that Willy got there unscathed. I had visions of customs tearing into the box for a look and not being very careful with it. Anyway yes the person that built this went to great lengths to customise it and include the lights. Still not sure what model the light lenses came from or how they installed them so neatly in the front grill. It does all make this even more top heavy than the standard Willy so not really a practical runner as you say. I have still got my standard green one so I can still have some Willy fun 😁 Great presentation of this and many thanks for the channel shout out. Enjoy Willy 😁

It looked cool in your videos but in person it is way cooler! The person that built this did a super job on it and even though I was not the one to customize I am very happy and proud to have it in the collection! I was sitting down there for quite a while just examining it all, the wrap of the roll bar to hide the wiring was a really slick move and done very well! Thanks again for offering it up, it will be very well cared for here!

I was quick to jump on Pete's Willy, I wanted to get it before anyone else could! LOL! I knew they were coming so that is why I lead off with the title of the video like I did. I figured I would open the odors right away and welcome in all the humorous comment with open arms! I am super happy to have it in the collection. Whoever built it put a ton of time and effort into making it look so cool. The Wild Willy jeep is a fun and cool truck to begin with but to take it to this level makes it so much cooler! I will care for Pete's Willy very well, even better than my own!

Nothing beats a good Willy!

LOL, yes! Having multiple ones is not a bad thing. There is actually another coming up very soon, I got another custom one done of my own. This was 100% pure coincidence there is so much Willy going on over here but you will get a big kick out of the one coming up!

Yes, whoever did the truck spent a lot of time and effort getting everything done so well. This was not a spur of the moment, slap something together type of project. This was a long time in the works and careful planning type of project! I am very happy to have it in my collection! It is a pleasure to hold Pete's Willy in my hands! LOL!

It is a cool truck! They do tumble around a lot as the compact wheelbase and kind of heavy body on top make them prone to rolling over but they are hilarious to drive. They are wheelie machines and bounce and bobble around much like the Lunch Box and Midnight Pumpkin. I love this custom one a lot, it is done very, very well! The stock version is still cool too and if you look online there are a ton of cool colors other have done theirs in as well so it does not have to be the green to look right.

Terrific cross ocean addition to your collection! What a piece! Cheers

Firstly mate, well done for keeping a straight face and staying so professional whilst presenting a video about 'willies'!!!! 😂 There's no way I would have been able to hold it together! I'm not going to make any Willie jokes, as the rather amusing comments section already has that fully covered..... brilliant! 😂 😅 🤣 Thats a lovely example there Addam, the painting, lights and attention to detail is first class. I would certainly be keeping that one strictly on the shelf, a great asset to the collection for sure. The photo of Bournemouth was cool to, it's a gorgeous stretch of UK coastline that I visited many times on holiday when I was a youngling. I must get back there sometime! LOL, thanks, I was fully expecting a flood of willy comments and catered to them in the video and the title! I am super excited to have this in my collection and it is a great little truck. Whoever did the work did a fantastic job and spent a lot of time doing it well so I can greatly admire and appreciate the build. If I were not worried about the lights getting damaged I would tootle it around in the yard at least once but since I did none of the work if something gets damaged it may be an absolute nightmare to try and fix it to the same quality and finish. I can admire it on the shelf for what it is just as well. I actually have another custom build on the same chassis coming up soon, complete coincidence it is on the same chassis. That one will probably get run around at some point, I have not yet though due to weather and time. Take care my friend and have a great week.

The Wild Willy is one of those kits that I have changed my views on. I first remember seeing the original in the mid 1980's and I got the impression that it was a comical machine rather than a proper driver's car (and to some extent, that WAS the point of it). The buggies of the time such as the Holiday buggy, Rough Rider and Sand Scorcher were great off-road but the Wild Willy could hardly stay upright and I didn't see the point of it. However, now I really appreciate the concept and design of the Wild Willy and Wild Willy 2. It has tons of character and the kit has so many interesting details that are so rare with modern RC vehicles. In contrast with most modern Tamiya products with plain polycarbonate bodies with no internal detail that are just like a thin flappy shell, decals for windows, wipers and lights and no great substance to them, the Wild Willy has a body that looks real, it has thickness and depth, plus accessories and of course it has Willy himself. The Willy's Wheeler is also a great looking car that I would love in my collection.

I think as we go through the years in the hobby things do change and evolve for many of us. I know when I was little I wanted big and bad and things that could go anywhere and then later I wanted fast and faster. I realized fast was expensive and faster was even more expensive! Then I went into track running and now I am more into the building and collecting. I never in a million years would have thought I would be building and collecting all of these but here I am! I do agree with you that this is one kit that has a ton of details and character to it and even though it is not a track ripper and does take a lot of tumbles if you drive it like it should be driven it is a ton of fun and an instant smile maker for sure! I am very happy to have added this to my collection and whoever did all the work on this kit did a very wonderful job making it something super cool and unique! I am hopefully the Willy's Wheeler, or Honda City Turbo now, does get re-released at some point in the near future as I would love to have one of those as well!

It made a brief appearance recently and then about a year or so ago. It is a really neat looking one and I love all the cool details on it. Someone spent a lot of time getting all that done and I am thrilled to have it in my collection!

I am trying to find a unique paint scheme for the other body set but after looking online there are tons and tons of things done with them so I am going to have to keep working on ideas! Thankfully it is a no-hurry type of project. Hope you find the RC mojo again soon bud.

Pete had a nice Willy! I like your Willy better though... 😉😉 Seriously though, that camo! Pete did an amazing job of hand-painting that! It looks as good as if it was hydro-dipped.

It is a super cool looking Willy. Pete actually bought this from someone else a while ago and did not want to to tear it up by driving it. Since he is not one for them sitting around he decided to sell it. Whoever did paint it took a ton of time and effort into getting it done very nicely and I kind of though it may be a hydro-dipped body as well but it is all hand painted! Now the driver figure in mine is obviously a lot cooler with the mini-me head in there! I just need to figure out how to whiten up the beard in it to keep up with mine LOL!!! It is nice to have such a cool Willy in my hands to admire LOL!

It was originally blue and I assume it got a bit banged up from running so they repainted it in the camo and went to town on the details! They are fun ones to drive! Very similar to the lunch box just quicker to get up on the rear wheels! They do tumble around a lot so running this one with those fixed in place lights worries me, if I built it it would be a little different, I would know what to use to fix it and repaint it if something broke. It would be very hard to match the paint on this if something snapped off in a tumble!

Pete is a great guy and I am very happy he offered this wonderful truck for sale to me! I love all the work and time that someone put into making this little Jeep so cool! I would be more confident in running it if I knew what paints and processes went into making it but since I have no idea I would hate to break something and risk having to fix it and leaving obvious traces. my first Tamiya cars ran mechanical speed controllers and what a chore it was keeping them in working order of course what an improvement with the modern ESC, but to see the old resistor hanging over the side is sure a fun reminiscent reminder of the good old days of Rc, an excellent find and if you wanted to run it without damage drop in a 55t motor and be careful, but I would just shelf it and bash the new one.

Yes, I do have fond and some annoyed memories of the old mechanical speed controls! They were great for me as a kids as the mud and water I often ran through did not affect them like the ESCs as back then there were extremely limited or no waterproof ones! Cram it into a balloon and hope for the best is about all you could do back then for those! If I had done all the work on it and knew exactly how it was all done I would feel better about running it. I have way to many others at this point to risk damaging one like this so it will stay on the shelf for now. One of these days i may get the itch to run it, who knows! I am glad it reminded you of the good old days!

I love RCs, they is something for everyone and if there isn't something exactly like you want it you can make it into something you want! For those outside of the hobby it can seem silly and strange but I am not worried if I look silly to them, I am enjoying myself and not hurting anyone else so it is all good!

Yeah it is a great looking WW2 and whoever did all the work on it did a great job and it was not hacked together, they took their time and did it well. I am super happy to have it in the collection and will take great care of it. It is not my real hair on the little mini-me head Canuck Chuck made me although he did a great job recreating the red with the white streaks in it. However this was a year or more ago when he made it and my beard has continued to fade into much more white than red now! LOL!

I like the driver is a mini you though I think his beard is a bit too red need to agg a few greys in there 👍🏻

It does have some grey streaks in the beard but since he did the head I think I have gotten a bit more grey! It is surprising to me on how grey I have gotten over just the last 3 years!

Sure, here is my Amazon link for them amzn.to/3wRnOQa Super cheap and I have only have one or two have issues out of the 80-100 of them I have used. One got replaced as it was very noisy and one did fail completely, overall not bad at all for roughly $5 a piece servos!

Pete uses fast brushless motors in his cars. Or he puts fast brushed motors.
