Congratulations on getting in! Did it say what the standard deviation was? Because 148 does not always mean 148. If the standard deviation is 15, then getting above 130 already puts you in the top 2%. An IQ test cannot measure much higher than that - if you take the Mensa online test, it can only show you a maximum of 135 IQ, and the SD (standard deviation) is 15. I am not 100% sure how the calculation works, because I don't know statistics (someone care to explain?), but if the SD was 15, your IQ would be calculated differently. I don't want to make your result look like less than it is, it is a great result! I just know that some people will look at your result and then their own, and then feel bad about themselves. So, if you take anything away from this comment: Bear in mind that IQs are calculated differently. The most common way is with a SD of 15, and then 100 is the average, 116-129 is superior intelligence, and 130+ is gifted.

Cattell III B scale scores have a standard deviation of 24, i.e. a score of 148 equals 2 sd from mean = exactly 130 IQ score. The Culture Fair test is either based on SD = 15 or 16, which would result in IQ scores of 140 or 137.5 (=2.5 sd from mean in case of the latter). "An IQ test cannot measure much higher than that" - yes they can, it just depends on the test design. Some are able to reliably measure high scores, some are not. "if you take the Mensa online test, it can only show you a maximum of 135 IQ" - that's by design, it's not supposed to be an accurate IQ test, just a first guess if you're maybe able to make it in. "if the SD was 15, your IQ would be calculated differently." - true, see the values above. Keep in mind though that the whole idea of the IQ scale was to standardise the measure of intelligence - with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. Note how the letter in the video doesn't call the values IQ scores, because they're not. Some people wrongly assume that an IQ test always gives IQ scores by default, which is often the case, but not always. If you don't want (or don't have enough information) to transform the values, just use the percentiles. Top 2% means 130+, top 1% 133+ (rounded), top 0.1% 145+ etc.

Congratulations! (I’m in Mensa too.) Be prepared for criticism regarding your membership. While the news media gushes over child members, adult members are often said to be arrogant, aloof, narcissistic, insecure, etc. People who should know better - meaning people who can read and understand scientific literature - will marshal all manner of specious arguments intended to invalidate I.Q. measurement as a practice and the existence of clubs for high scoring individuals.

There is a large body of evidence that I.Q. is not just how well you do on a particular test. I realize you feel the need to make such a statement in order to avoid the appearance of immodesty, but I.Q. accurately predicts a number of important life outcomes.

The thing about IQ is that the scores you will get across multiple tests are correlated and your IQ results are correlated with your general cognitive ability, so even though talking about an specific score could be dumb It’s pretty useful as an estimation or a range of your intellectual ability. I know It’s hard to say some people isn’t smart but that’s the truth.

@@maikel3888 75 iq means you have a severe intellectual disability. You wouldn’t be able to form complex thought moreover figure out how to use an advanced peace of technology. An iq test usually has a 15 point margin of error, this Persons iq is most likely closer to 85 or 90.

Amazing! Both of you have genius level IQ. I want the hoody, that and I scored 133 on an online IQ test and it made me wonder. I’m trying in November, I hope I get in, I feel like you have to earn the hoody. 😉

On my mensa Quick online IQ Test they produced said After I was done with the test it said You're IQ Lies outside the area the test Is able to measure. We are hoping to extend this area as soon as we have gather more data. So either way I'm Off the charts Just go to bed I'm not sure yet😅🤣
