Because if it's not a hobby you wont put enough effort and longevity into it for it to make you real money. So find something that interests you that can make you money and be the best at it. Best piece of advice I ever got was, it's easier to find something when you got something. 11$ ain't shit bro dont settle for that shit.

Well, I work for Walmart myself and there is a rather strict policy about phones out while on your shift. The rule doesn't apply while you are on your break or lunch, but otherwise you can't have it out. You can have it on your person, but if it is seen out, you can get reprimanded for it. I personally don't agree with the manager's decision here, he should have simply instructed him to put it away. The manager would then go to their bosses and inform them of the incident. The only reason I know of this is because I got busted on my first day on the job with my phone out. One of the CSMs (Customer Service Manager) caught me with it out while I was in the back watching my training videos. Thankfully I had a decent excuse... I don't remember what that was to be honest.

Apparently you haven't been to Walmart lately. No one works hard there. I stopped shopping at the one in my town because the employees who weren't at the registers all just stood around talking to each other or on their phones. Any time I asked where something was, the employee would just point in a random direction. They are supposed to stop what they are doing and take the customer to the aisle.

My husband worked at Wal-Mart for 11 months, we had just bought a new house and they fired him. He is 79 years old and a diabetic and worked as a greeter. The front line Customer service Managers said he was one of the best Greeters they worked with and they didn't have to "babysit" him. Everyone loved him and all the employees loved him too. The main Assistant Manager pulled him in after a shift and told him he was fired. The reason he said, was because no done liked him (the Assistant Manager didn't like him), and he had four "meal violations" which meant that he didn't go to his lunch within a certain set time set by the company and the state government. However, he couldn't leave his post unless he was released which sometime didn't happened. Also, because he is diabetic, he was supposed to be able to go to lunch whenever he pleased with someone covering his post. The store also tried to block his unemployment and because he is diabetic they failed and he got it. The other employees weren't so lucky and couldn't get there's. We went back to the store several times to get medication and groceries and the Assistant Manager saw us and we stopped to talk with us and we talked to him and he called the police and had us escorted out of the store and banned from combing back. He had told the CSMs several days before he fired my husband, he was going to fire him because he didn't like him. He's a complete douche.

You are legally able to sign away lunch breaks but you have to do it on paper BEFORE you skip it. He violated federal law and put his employer at risk for fines. He should have just walked off for lunch because lets face it, greeters are 100% not needed in any way.

I don't understand why you would get fired over this. This is interesting how you do your job. I may be weird but I find this fascinating.

Sean Gildersleeve it's because wally finds dumb reasons to get rid of their long term associates so they can replace them with people for half the pay. I was fired for accedently breaking a 12 clock after 18 yrs of being there.

McDonald’s does the same thing and so do most other businesses. When employees are hired they sign paperwork saying they will not film on company property and that they will not acknowledge the existence of said company on the internet in any way, shape or form. He broke both those rules, plain and simple.
