I GOT AN ILLEGAL DRIVER! 515cc ILLEGALLY LONG AND STRAIGHT?!

Спорт

I GOT AN ILLEGAL DRIVER! 515cc ILLEGALLY LONG AND STRAIGHT?! 515cc Driver! ILLEGALLY LONG AND ILLEGALLY STRAIGHT ??? Drivers now have a legal limit of 460cc for the head size to conform to the rules of golf. Not only does this juggernaut POWER PLAY driver not conform to that but it also has an illegal COR which means we should see an increased ball speed and increased distance off the tee... or so they claim. I test thus against my very own Taylormade m5 and see how it does. does it go illegally long? is it the longest driver ever? is it the best driver ever? would you use this driver? would you cheat at golf? its amazing what companies will do to help people hit straighter shots, fist the rick shiels straight golf ball and now this illegal long and straight driver! I guess it all depends... lets do it... and lets do it now!

I think you nailed it at the end, probably not going to see an improvement for you seeing you already smoke the best driver on the market right now. What would be interesting is giving it to a high handicapper and putting it up against whatever he has in his bag and see if he gets a gain 🤔

Hi James, great video. I bought one of those Krank drivers which had similar advertisers claims. It was sold as only for “recreational use”. I have played with it a couple of times and tried it out at my local range. Despite the claims, it is certainly no longer than my current Callaway Rogue Driver. Maybe these things will get out there if club head and ball speeds are around that of the long drive fraternity! Good fun, but didn’t do what it said on the tin.

I picked this driver up after a car accident effected my game, without draw bias. I needed more forgiveness with the larger head to keep it in the fairway, couldn't hit the middle of the face to save my life - this helped. After several months of physical therapy my swing returned and I abandoned this for the Mizuno JPX900 (smaller 440cc head oddly enough). This is a great example of equipment assisting a poor swing with added forgiveness. Like you said at the end of the video, its for the average golfer that wants to have fun rather than a pro who can swing well consistently already. As in my case, the injured may benefit also.

Hey mate. Loved the review, and yes, that driver is not designed for a player of your standard. I’m a 18 handicapper, and never play comps, only social with my mates. I’ve tried the Sooo Long 650cc for a giggle and we all had a good laugh with it. It was sooo loud. I bought it to try fix my slice and gain some distance. All it did was slice further and sounded like a thunder clap every time I hit it. Turns out my grip was wrong, and after watching a few KZread grip lessons, fixed my slice and gained distance. Funny how the ball goes further in a straight line, running in the fairway. 🤔

Then I tried this club and WOW this thing has me going straight 90% of the time and increased my distance to 250 on average. I understand it won't help everyone because my buddy can't hit it straight with this club . But if you have a chronic slice its worth $90 to give it a shot . I was amazed!

Considering I've never been to a golf shop to test what specific shaft I need, what do you suggest? I know I need x stiff flex but beyond that, I don't know. I hit the ball low and depending on the day it might draw or fade. I know there's more to it than that but just looking for something close to standard that's decent.

But we digress and getting back to the driver, and older friend of mine in his mid 70's uses something like that illegal which keeps him in the fairway more often and somewhat farther than a regular driver, he plays for pleasure and to keep active at his age. I think that there is a place for most clubs of all kinds, here and or there.

Last week I played with a guy that has a Juggernaut. He even added a 3’ extension. He’s a 15-20 handicapper and he bought it because the other 3 guys in his group were always hitting it 10-15 yards past him. I hit it a couple of times, and was able to get another 15 yards out of it. On a par 4 I hit my Maverick driver 260 and the Juggernaught ~275. I did swing slowly because 1) the damn thing is 52” long, and 2) it had a senior shaft in it. Hit it twice more and blocked one drive average length and on the 3rd I hit a looong drive, but a bit right, all three hits were in play. To me it is a novelty. I’m a bit of a purist, but part of me wants to get one to see if I can consistently hit it long and straight.

I use this driver with 20 compression Wilson Staff Duo balls because the COR is non-conforming as well. With this club I drive the ball between 270-290. I'm 70 years old. My golfing buddies are way behind me and dumbfounded. The good news is they never ask to examine my driver. In our weekly twilight league and other sanctioned club events, I use a conforming Boccieri Heavy Driver head (460cc) with an AccuFlex Assassin shaft (48 inches) and a Boccieri back-weighted grip. Honestly, I hit the ball nearly as far with comparable control. The Boccieri driver head is unbelievable. Too bad that Steven Boccieri is out of business.

As a fitter who has sold hundreds of these Juggernaut drivers, I can tell you that your assumption about it being designed for slower swingers or less skilled golfers is completely wrong. It is actually a very low-launching, low-spinning head, in fact it's one of the lowest spinning heads I have ever hit. The reason for the higher launch and spin rate in this video is that he's using an Acer Velocity shaft which has a very soft tip and plays almost a full flex softer than the listed flex (stiff CPM is only 245 which is 10-15 lower than most stiff shafts). Also, this driver is a 10.5 where I imagine the M5 is probably set at 9.5 for his swing speed, and it's still only launching 0.7° higher and spinning 300rpm more. The fact that it performed that close to the M5, which is a $500 driver which likely has a $100-$200 shaft in it, while using a crappy $15 shaft that is poorly fitted to his swing says a lot. He needs to swap it out with a properly fitted shaft (ideally the same shaft in his M5) and try it again, I guarantee the results will be a LOT different!

  • @mytube411

It's also worth noting that he's hitting the "draw" version with offset rather than the standard version with no offset. And his M5 doesn't have any offset, so he should have done a comparison with the non-offset model.

I have this club with a better quality shaft. its longer than normal . there is also a non offset model . it will add 10-15 yards to a mid-high handicapper.

You probably should have upgraded the shaft to match the M5

No. I have a GBB Epic, and a 2014 Big Bertha for a backup. I use the Fubuki shaft from the 2014 BB in the Epic because there is something about the way the two work together as opposed to the stock shaft the GBB Epic came with. I also have an extra Fubuki I bought from Callaway just in case the unthinkable happens. Both are excellent drivers. The 2014 is in 9/10 condition and so could go back in the bag if needed and the club is very forgiving. I don't see where I'd use an illegal driver. I'm a mid-high handicap player. Git gud.

Its not about the driver or the club itself..Its depending on how you do the correct and right swing to release the club :)

There fore I picked up a driver from my boss, it was dirt cheap with bag thrown in. Its the Calaway FT-i is it legal? Everyone I golf with says it's not, so I just play around with it on the range. Any insight on it I've searched on the internet but not asking the right question I guess. Thanks

The biggest take away is you got almost identical performance out of a 160$ driver vs a 500$ one. Big brands charge you for the name nothing more.

I play with guys that hit 3 balls OB off the tee, then 2-putt and mark down par. "Cheating" seems to be subjective. Its your scorecard, do what you want.

Juggernaut: noun (often lowercase) any large, overpowering, destructive force or object, as war, a giant battleship, or a powerful football team. (often lowercase) anything requiring blind devotion or cruel sacrifice. Also called Jagannath. an idol of Krishna, at Puri in Odisha, India, annually drawn on an enormous cart under whose wheels devotees are said to have thrown themselves to be crushed.

juggernaut : is basically an unstoppable force or object of any kind. i'm certain you've completely missed the point. the average weekend warrior doesn't hit a 270 drive, doesn't have the tm m-5, and he doesn't have his own indoor range. in fact - everyone here knows that playing under 90 is not the norm for the masses at your average golf course. if you want to see a REAL result - give the club to some average guy who drives the ball about 200 yards with an 18 handicap and see if it improves his distance and accuracy.
