I Got A Tokyo Makeover
So we traveled to Japan to film a three-part series about beauty & style and our second episode is a head-to-toe Tokyo street fashion makeovers! I've heard so much about Harajuku fashion and Tokyo street fashion that I decided to take our regional style investigation across the Pacific all the way to Japan! We explored three street fashion trends, including Vintage Remake, Mode, and the Colorful Layered style. What did you guys think of my Tokyo fashion makeover?

She’s always incredibly respectful to the people she encounters on her outings and you can tell she puts A TON of work and research into her content. She really is a fantastic creator and 100% deserves her own show on TV.

Yeah, I think the mode one was my favorite from this video.
I like how Mika said: "No, you're welcome". I'm Asian, and in my language we also say No first to enhance that it wasn't any trouble when someone thanks us. And from the little Japanese I've studied I think it's similar, too.

It's kinda similar in Australia we often say "No problem" especially after helping someone out
@cherryberry9636

@@leomcmonagle4845 Ah yes, but I believe English speakers in general use "no problem". As opposed to the "No, you're welcome" (usually you'd say "Of course" or "your welcome" without the "No") so that one's kinda exclusive to a few Asian (and maybe other?) languages I guess ;)
@bjorkalways

@jellykitty9618

Yeah. It sucks.
@byakuyatogami5976
5 жыл бұрын
Well, I guess that's your taste. To me, it's not boring it's just different. And not everyone in Tokyo wears this, like they said in the video, it's more of a model style and less of a casual, everyday look. But yeah, the way they dress pretty cool.
@Leah-yh5sj
5 жыл бұрын
@@byakuyatogami5976 oh I totally see what you mean! To be honest, my original comment was just a condensed, simplified version of my thoughts that I put out onto the internet, but I have a more complex view of fashion overall. As far as the street clothing that like, 95% of people wear goes, I really do like Western fashion (specifically American). But when it comes to the subgenres and the kinds of looks that you see on runways, I feel like Western fashion is just kind of weird and not put together. Whereas I feel like the kind of looks Safiya wore in this video have a purpose, albeit and complicated/unique/crazy one. Does that make sense? I'm not always great at putting my thoughts into words.
@byakuyatogami5976
5 жыл бұрын
@@Leah-yh5sj Yeah, I gotcha. I really like their style of clothing, especially the pictures. I never really liked runways because they are boring, you just see a person walk back and forth. So yeah, I understand. I guess what they're doing isn't necessarily new to the west (cutting and mixing up clothes) but the fact that their putting their own unique spin on it makes it really cool to see. But there is less variety and openness of clothing in the west and you have to go to small shops to get the stuff close to what you see in the video. But I get what you're saying.
@nickdouglas736
5 жыл бұрын
you have to differ between american and european fashion as well though. for example the runway outfits of brands like Armani, Dior, Versace and co are very much put together within the collections. Japan and Korea are like a few seasons ahead when it comes to streetwear but they lack the classical sartorial suits and outfits most french and italian brands do.
Saf (creepy): "Do I look summery? Like a sweet summer child?" Rinrin (sweet): "Yes!
Saf in the Mode outfit is straight up “young hot Professor Snape” and I’m here for it

god i'd wear the hell out of the vintage remake style, it's so amazing!!
"You're so not sexy right now." Gosh, I love these girls 😂😂
"everything has pockets" *I'm sold.* this is hands down the best designer out there. how generous, how kind, to bless most or every one of their garments with something to put your hands in.
I love how RinRin always matches her outfits to yours or the style you're looking for in that day 😂💖
when you guys do these fashiony makeover videos.. you should do one where tyler gets a fashion makeover, as well. I would love to see some manlier looks. and it would be a nice contrast. and it would just be fun to see you both venturing around in cool outfits lol
lol tyler in the back with his icecream

This is an absolute killer, Safiya. Showcasing Japan streetstyle without being stereotypical; making a deepdive into the different Japanese fashion styles is so, so, so, so, so good!
I need more RinRin in my life
I actually love how creative Tokyo and Japanese styles are!! Its so creative and un judged- like theres no rules! I love it! Thank you and Rin Rin for sharing it 💜
Just an idea : *What if You wear these styles out in the streets of America and see people's reactions?* All of these styles are very different from the clothes we're used to seeing so it would be very interesting to see the reactions. 😊😚

Liucy McJuicy I feel like the second outfit wouldn't get much negative response it's not super outlandish but she lives in LA so that would outlandish for them. In NYC she would be super fashionable. The 3rd outfit I think would be the one that people in the states would be the most shocked by

I _really_ liked this video!! Tokyo as such an interesting amazingly fashionstyle. I'm not sure, if I would wear these but dang, it looks very cool & unique! 💕
I love how Asian makeup trends have people putting blush where highlight would be in addition to the traditional placement. Rinrin looks so cute with that makeup.

"oh no, sexy!"
As you're talking about flairs @ 26:10 , Tylers eating ice cream, and I got distracted xD lol
Rinrin's little "no" in 10:42 is the cutest thing ever 🥺
So hard to come by original content these days such as this. They either make similar videos, or work together so it’s hardly any creativity anymore in terms of working hard to out out interesting, and engaging videos. But this I love. One can really tell that it’s done professionally with a lot of hard work, and that they have done their re search. The footage is also great. I always get exited when Safiya has uploaded new videos! Fun, yet very educational, and informative. Awesome! Still waiting for that going to the homeland, like Scandinavia type of video seeing I am Norwegian. And the chemistry with RinRin was flawless! Loved her! She’s the perfect tour guide and shopping companion🙏🏾

there is something between Asian icecreams and Ty. Here, struggling. In the Tokio vending machine, an ice cream saved Ty from meltdown after the red hot snacks. In the South Korean Cheese Park, they almost lost the train "home" because Ty disappeared to buy some beverage and ice cream.
Mr. Ohashi has such good styling!
Rinrin is SO SWEET I can't get over it.
I love how much research and effort you put into learning about places you are visiting so you can present an accurate snapshot of the place to your audience! Your time and energy does not go unnoticed!
