If a laptop defaults to the internal screen during boot, it can usually be forced to use the external display by booting with the lid closed. Of course one has to use an external mouse and keyboard in such case.

Just did this to a free chromebook a friend gave me. Honestly they arent bad computers. Chrome OS just sucks so much. With ubuntu (I know i know, but i like it) it runs surprisingly well.

I got this laptop for free thanks to a teacher of mine. Apparently, he had this Chromebook in a basement gathering dust. He gave it to me because I was already way ahead of everyone in computer repair class

While it's possible, not in his case. He installed coreboot without using a flashing board, meaning that it can exclusively boot linux, no windows. In theory though, it's possible if you flash it using that board.

hi! i managed to get linux on my old dell chromebook 11 . it was a challenge & i bricked it 1st time . i tried ubuntu & gallium os , but was successful with linux lite . i dontr have audio , does anyone know how to enable it . i have no chrome os anymore . its all linux

Because Chromebooks are already very limited on resources ram/cpu etc, Windows would likely be very painful to use on it. The point here being Linux would at least be a better choice than ChromeOS which is not only less flexible than Linux but older Chromebox loose support for ChromeOS pretty quickly. If you insist on using Windows you are just better off buying a lower end laptop that comes with it. Lastly installing Windows is not as straight forward to install on Chromebook hardware and can be trickier to get booting if at all. I say this as mainly a Windows user, even I would not bother.

I mean...I'll agree his content is good?..but some things are quite questionable....for instance....EVERY REAL TECH SAVVY PERSON knows you do NOT power on or RUN a laptop or chromebook on a BLANKET!! Its to be done on a hard surface with enough clearance that the laptop can suck in cool air!~

I disassembled my damn chromebook on the toilet while taking a shit and then afterwards, placed in on a blanket to verify theres no fucking magic screw except the one I got! So then i reassembled the shittop and it still fucking works.... in ChromeOS.... DAMMIT~ now I need to try my homemade POS hacked up USB C cable

@@CedrinMedia I too apologize, I didn't mean that in a condescending way....more from a safety aspect. I've had to deal with a fire as the laptop was on a blanket and couldn''t "breathe" properly...which lead to MASSIVE overheating..and then?...the few sparks that started the whole thing.
