Regrettably you can’t use samples in hip hop anymore, unless you are really creative in editing it to a point where it’s almost unrecognizable. There will not be another “3 feet high and rising” by De La Soul, “It takes Nation of millions to hold us back” by Public Enemy, “Paul’s boutique” by The Beastie Boys, and “Endtroducing” by DJ Shadow (that album is hip hop, and I won’t let anyone tell me otherwise) because of those mentioned albums use of samples and sampling
